MATES Taking cues from the celebratory Mister Saturday Night parties, intimate nights at the newly opened TBA Brooklyn, and the cozy back-room gatherings at Cameo Gallery, MATES is a new event focused on curating sophisticated events in Brooklyn, New York. Quite aptly named, the night was founded by Michael Goldstein, Meredith Dooma, and Brian Parker, three “mates” dedicated to uniting old friends and new faces, and sharing a love for quality music…especially in unexpected, inviting spaces. Like all good friends, MATES take care of their mates, who in turn respect the experience, the space, and the energy of the night, but most of all, show up for a good time. Michael Goldstein is a house head originally from Sydney. Under the moniker Mickey G he spins everything from jackin 90’s NY house to contemporary deepness and everything that grooves in between.  Meredith Dooma is an ATLien and photographer currently residing in Brooklyn. After living and playing in Berlin, Germany, she finally found an outlet for her passion for music : spinning techno, deep house, and dark vocally driven tunes that make you want to two-step all night long. Brian Parker is a musician and producer from Virginia, currently living in Brooklyn. He has shifted his attention away from years of pop songwriting to hone in on an electronic project that incorporates a fascination with extended, hypnotic, minimal grooves and open harmonic spectrums.

The New Year is here and MATES are welcoming 2014 with a party that will put your NYE night (and hangover) to shame. Brian, Mez, and Mickey are excited to work the decks with updated record collections and sharpened skills, so mark your calendars. And don’t forget to tell your mates!
