sherlock getting That Look in his face whenever joan does some freak shit makes me kick my feet and giggle. joan picks a pocket and he's literally swooning. joan does an illegal autopsy? her biggest cheerleader. joan knows information about mafia (that she collected when she was a teen btw. freak /aff) that he doesn't? he's genuinely twirling his hair. whenever joan does something super smart and surprises him he looks this🤏 close to being yelling HELL YEAHHHHH THAT'S MY PARTNER!!!!! and i think that's beautiful. everyday sherlock looks at joan and goes "ok she's way too cool. i need to lock the fuck in to be a worthy best friend for her." and that makes me so so happy. and NONE of it is even remotely romantic. GO MY QPR!!

he named a bee after her. whenever someone refers to her as his better half he doesn't flinch, doesn't deny; just breezes past, because that's the simple truth. of course she's his better half. she's his partner, his best friend. and he wants to go to the cemetery with her the next time she visits the consequences of her failure. and no, they are not lovers. it is not something that can be explained so simply. but there is love there. there is so, so much love.

The thing that’s so wonderful about Elementary is that it *does* the whole “Sherlock Holmes, rude misanthropic genius” schtick, but it DOESN’T STOP THERE. Sherlock IS a rude misanthropic genius, but he IS also capable of deep love, and he WORKS HARD to express it for the people he loves! It is incredibly endearing to watch Sherlock cook lasagna for Watson, advise her of the optimal temperature to eat it, and then sit stiffly next to her prepared to lockjaw his way silently through an entire Knicks game bc he WANTS TO BE GOOD TO HER. He takes pains to precisely and clearly communicate his support for her choices, even if she chooses to be away from him!

And IT JUST MAKES ME SO WARM about Sherlock, because despite how Sherlock claims that he is ONLY soft for Watson, Sherlock is genuinely *becoming a better person* as the show progresses by forming relationships with Captain Gregson, with Marcus, with Alfredo, with Kitty! “Misanthropy was so easy,” Sherlock mourns once, and I LOVE THAT LINE bc yes! It IS easier to just make Sherlock a rude ass misanthropist and nothing more! It’s HARD for him to open up! But he makes the fucking effort, because it is worth it and the show continually reinforces that.

So I was watching the Bookshop Tour and I noticed something

The couch has two blankets and is literally split in half one being shades of yellows and reds and the other being shades of bluish-greys and whites

Angel Crowley is just naive.

That’s all.

He’s not softer or kinder or better than present day Crowley. He’s just innocent to how it all works. He doesn’t ‘get’ the system yet. And when he asks questions trying to better understand it all, instead of heaven being sympathetic and understanding about it they cast him out.

But Crowley still has just as much wonder and love and excitement for existence as he did in the beginning. He’s just aware that there is bad intertwined with the good.
