MATHIEU: Hey, a family friend gave me two tickets to La Cage aux Folles at the Pasadena Playhouse this weekend but I'm not gonna be able to make it. MATHIEU: Do you want them instead? @stylisthummel

MATHIEU: Tell me you've had luck getting some kind of Christmas list out of Mom? MATHIEU: Whenever I ask, she just says she wants her kids happy and healthy but I can't guarantee that. It'll be a lot easier if she told you a specific sweater or something. @jamieschue

DAISY: Oh??? DAISY: 👀 DAISY: Something tells me this wasn't for me, but now I want to hear all about who you ran into!
[…] MATHIEU: Wow that’s embarrassing, I’m so sorry. MATHIEU: Last week I bumped into a classmate from my theatre days. Nothing exciting. MATHIEU: Actually this works because I’ve been meaning to text you too. Can I borrow you for lunch this week?
Yeah, of course! Honestly, I'm hoping for anything that will get me a day job, or at least something I can use to give myself some merit with the Glee Club. Of course I want to hear about you TAing, which is why I asked! Yes, those were very helpful. You're the reason I stopped getting jobs, actually. I couldn't do the show without those color coded show tracks. Am I kidding? Maybe.
You’re Gabe Wilde, that’s merit enough. They’re lucky to have you. Damn, that’s not an overload of pressure or anything. I’m joking, but if you’re in the market I’m happy to finally tell you my system so you can start doing it yourself. My audition organization techniques are just collecting dust in my brain these days, might as well share them with someone who’ll put them to good use instead of gatekeeping. Not that you need it. I draw the line at offering to start organizing your tap shoes again though.
No! It's a good thing to be organized! I color-coded all of my notes to help me get through school. Well, I still will stand by the fact that I'd think you be an amazing professor. I've seen way worse people who claim they are professors who barely know how to turn on a computer let alone teach.
My mom has a.. we'll call it a penchant for organizing, so I can at least partially blame genetics instead of it just being entirely my own nerdiness. It's not failed me or anyone I know yet. Tell me about it. With my current assignment, the first 10 minutes of class are spent watching the professor struggle to connect his laptop to the projector before he finally asks for help. Every single class. You'd think practice makes perfect, but.

[WRONG #] MATHIEU: Hey! I meant to text you sooner but I had some schoolwork that ate up my time, sorry for that. But it was nice running into you the other day. MATHIEU: We should catch up another time. @daisyclarington
True, but when we see Mom and Dad next week and I tell them I'm enjoying college sooooo much that I was thinking about grad school and you talked me out of it, they'll be on your ass, not mine. Something of mine hung up in the Sylvester household?? I've peaked. Umm, the Flintstones wouldn't have won the costume contest, Dad and Sue did.
Then they’ll insist I right my wrongs. And then I’ll be forced to harass you every single day until your only options are to either actually go to grad school or kill me in my sleep. I’d say it’s an easy choice but I don’t really know which’d be less work for you, I’m just hoping here. Dad and Sue probably have no idea they won, and I’m a little scared of what’ll happen if they find out. Speaking of next week, can I ask for a favor? And then I’ll owe you one. Or twelve.
What's one thing you wish you had said to someone?
Nothing I’m going to explicitly say online. But there are a lot of people who deserve apologies for having to put up with me when they did.
Wow you talk a lot. Okay.
I just want quiet places with no people. I'm in the school if music, does that count? Can I get keys to a practice room? I've never really asked before. But thank you for all of your suggestions, I will think about it.
Yeah I do, sorry about that. You should be able to get a key. I'd check with the building's main office on the exact procedure in case it's changed since I've been there, but it shouldn't be an issue. I knew plenty of people who would use them to just nap in between classes, but they're also good if you just need some peace and quiet too.
PRIVATE
There's so much Sylv-Lore that I'm not involved in because I was too busy getting my house demolished by a hurricane, and it's rude.
— private.
That's insanely rude. Sadly all I know about is your sister being born and the time your mom tried to get a bill passed that said my parents' show counts as explicit material not suitable for children's involvement. Guess you'll just have to hope your family ups the shenanigans so you can play a part.
Nothing, honestly! I'm pretty boring-- I've got a few auditions lined up, but nothing to write home about. How is being a TA? I'm sure whoever has you is really celebrating that decision. I remember when you color coded my show tracts for me.
That’s not boring, that’s exciting. Nerve wracking, but exciting. You’ll have to let me know how they go, what’re we hoping for? You don’t want to hear about me TAing, that’s what’s actually boring. It’s mostly just fielding emails that the professor doesn’t want to deal with from students who didn’t realize they’d have to use math in psychology. Okay but did that or did that not make your life just the slightest bit easier? I know the answer already, but please humor me.
It's been a while since we've spoken... How are you doing? I know it's none of my business to, but I still worry about you. @mathieuschue
It’s absolutely your business if you want it to be. Personally, I’m a big fan of worrying about my friends, it’s one of my better skills. I’ve been okay though. Classes are keeping me busy but that’s just how it goes. What about you, what’s been going on?
Damn, all the good TAs are taken up. That would be amazing, thank you! You are one of the most organized TAs ever. You should look into becoming a professor once you graduate.
”Organized” is such a nice way of calling me a giant nerd, thanks for that. Nobody should trust me to teach them, I can’t have that much influence. I’ll just stick to being auxiliary support and leave the teaching to the professionals. You’ve got it down to an art.
