Summer Investments

Living in New York doesn’t give you a lot of wardrobe space so you have to plan your purchases well (which is great for your wallet too though) in order for your favorites to fit in your apartment. So this summer, I have invested in three things that I know I will be able to wear a lot and match with the rest of my clothes.

I absolutely love bikinis, so at least one new one is a must each year. My favorite this year is this Kiini-look alike from Nelly.

You can never have too many white dresses in my opinion, especially not gorgeous lace dreams like this one from Iro!

I love to match red with my tan during the summer, and I have also developed a passion lately for fun party shoes in different colors (tired of all the black shoes that I have!). These beauties from Aquazzurra will spice up any outfit, and I know for sure that they will be my favorite shoes this season.

Humidity Fighters

Frizzy and uncontrollable hair is almost inevitable here in New York during summer time, but I have found two perfect helpers for that. Redken’s “Frizz Dismiss” shampoo and conditioner really do wonders thanks to their “FPF” (Frizz Protection Factor) and make the hair smooth and shiny. In addition, the shampoo is sulfate-free and one ingredient is the Brazilian Pracaxi Oil, which smooths, nourishes and strengthens the hair fiber for long-lasting manageability and control.

Spring glow

One of my favorite beauty products is this tinted highlighter/primer from Laura Mercier (in the colors golden or bronze) . It gives the face a beautiful glow and works perfectly both as a base under the foundation or by itself.

Gradution Gifts

May means graduation for many students, and I am actually one of them this year. I am officially graduating from New York University next week and I am so excited! Although you might not be wearing any caps and gowns this month, you are probably going to a graduation party and need something to give. Below are some examples of gifts that I think are perfect to give, and that I would be more than happy to recieve...

Scented candles from Byredo and Diptyque are always great to get, and not necessarily something you buy for yourself. Also, a luxurious passport cover (perhaps with a plane ticket inside?) or a weekend bag are things you can have forever. The perfect pair of black heels and the best hair brush in the world are also perfect gifts for a female graduate.

In addition, I am pretty sure most students would need a juice cleanse or a relaxing spa day with manicure/massage/facial after lots of partying and long nights with the school books. A great perfume or investments as a nice bag or a pair of sunglasses are also nice things to get since you can have them for many years. A magazine subsricption is also a gift that “lasts” long and again, maybe aren’t something you would give to yourself.

Beige silk + blue denim

The combination between classy/luxurious and relaxed/simple is what I usually try to look for when I buy new clothes and put together outfits. I love how Emily Ratajkowski manages to combine these things very well when she matches a classic pair of Levi’s 501 denims with a beige silk camisole.

I found an amazing beige silk camisole/slip dress at Century 21 the other day, and a great pair of denims that had that perfect shade of blue at Brandy Melville. I will style this outfit with a navy blazer and heels, or with white sneakers and a big knitted cardigan!

Coconut beauty

In last week’s issue of Net-à-Porter’s the Edit, there is this article about the beauty benefits of Coonuts. I started to use coconut oil on my skin a little while ago, and it really does wonder. My tip is to not put it on your face since it is very heavy, and to use it on your body in the shower. Read more about it here!

Spring Trends #3

PLEATS

I love pleated skirts, and have found a great one from Swedish Gina Tricot. I am also excited about this amazing beige dress that will come out soon at Gina Tricot too. In addition, this white pleated top from Zara is also a really nice wardrobe addition this spring. Classic and modern at the same time!

FRINGES

I really like denims with fringes and will look for a flared ankle-length style with fringes this season.

RUFFLES

Isabel Marant is in my opinion the queen of ruffles, and I think she manages to make her pieces both cool and romantic at the same time. I will be looking for a nice skirt this summer.

White on the beach

I saw a post about the supermodel Carolyn Murphy at work the other week, and absolutely loved her bikini! I’ve also seen Elsa Hosk wearing a similar Marysia and Chloé inspired bikini in white, and really wanted to find something like that to match with a tan and salty hair this summer.

So, I was very excited when I found this one at H&M the other week, and had to order it since the price was so good. Can’t wait to wear it!
