a smile h i d d e n behind his mask, watching as she o p e n e d the window and gave him THAT reply. pik laughed s i l e n t l y, glancing down b r i e f l y ; though eyes shot back up to CATCH her next question. ohp! the blonde held up a f i n g e r… as if to ask her to w a i t — before WHIPPING out his notebook, w r i t i n g something down… and showing it to her: ❛ a gift. ❜ a p e r k of his brows… and he turned it back around w r i t e something else. ❛ front door? ❜ he s p e l l e d out and showed.
it looked SUSPICIOUS… he knew that. of course, if she refused, he would UNDERSTAND and just p o l i t e l y leave the basket at the front door — which contained a bunch of peaches, with a note saying: ‘ hello. my name is pik. i’m new to your community and just wanted to say hi. this is in note form because i’m deaf and prefer not to speak. ’ having had trouble in the past, the lanky blonde felt it s a f e r just to WARN people prior in the friendliest of ways… just in case.
Vanessa wasn’t entirely sure as to what sort of little show she was getting, but naturally, she had the patience for just about anything. The finger being held up didn’t silence herself but she slowed up to offer the man an opportunity to get to scrawling. Vanessa knew to be wary. In times of so little, she needed to be guarded for the betterment of her whole camp, but he was just about the cutest thing she’d come across all day. A gift? He was a gift, most probably. Her heart never did steer her wrong in terms of impressions and she couldn’t help but lean into her instinct as she leaned on the window sill. “A gift? Well, aren’t you just the sweetest little...” Vanessa hesitated for a moment, wondering if she was talking a little fast, though he seemed to be able to keep up with her mouth’s wish to ramble.
“Wait there.” A light instruction, but she left him waiting at the window so instantly he didn’t have much of a choice in whether he caught what she’d said. Vanessa was positively tickled by whoever this young man claimed to be. In truth, anyone who wandered into her camp offering genuine gifts off the back of nothing deserved just about every second she had to spare. She moved quickly through the corridors and pushed through the front door, out to find the blonde. When she did she caught him by the elbow and pulled around to stand in front of him, ever the tactile greeter. “You wanna come in? I’ll get you something to eat.”
