“It is,” he laughed. “I hate it but I’d rather do it than stare at boxes, so..”

“Yeah, they are something to deal with. And I speak to her in two other languages besides English. So she’s learning different languages and let’s just say it does not make this time period easy.”

“Oh wow,” Matt said with a nod of his head. “She’s going to be pretty smart, it sounds like. I know one language, save for a few questions like..where’s the bathroom, etc.”

“Where you been, man? Feels like centuries. I’m okay. Not drinking alcohol so–” He lifted his glass, “Ordered a Shirley Temple like a child. Don’t know why I ever stopped drinking these. How are you?”

“It pretty much has been centuries,” he laughed, shaking his head a little bit and sighing. He arched a brow. “Oh yeah? Good on you, man,” he said. He shrugged a little and leaned back. “I’ve been alright.”

“Fine, good.” Christian sighed, running a hand through his hair. “Exhausted from so much work. But, you know. I’m still alive, so I must be doing something right.” He smiled. “How’re you doing? It’s been a while, huh?”

“Glad to hear it,” he nodded. “And I can imagine. Work loves to do a number on us, doesn’t it?” he chuckled. “I’m doing pretty good. Hanging in there.”

“Where were you?” The Hungarian took a drink of her whiskey as she looked over at him. “I’ve been well. Just dealing with a bunch of cases like always.”

“I had to go home and deal with some things,” he said with a shrug. “Oh yeah? Anything exciting?”

“Me? Been working a lot.” She said as she pushed the ice cubes in her diet coke around. “I am about to finish for the summer. I don’t know but…I think I might want to take a year off of college honestly.” 

“Yeah?” he said, cocking his head to the side slightly. “There’s no harm in that. Sometimes you just need to take a break, right?”

“Oh boy..” he said with raised eyebrows. “Sounds like there’s a story behind all that,” he smirked.

“Unpacking’s never the fun part. Packing isn’t that thrilling either, but you know what I mean.” Mason smiled upon hearing how his move went, knowing that stuff like this could really go either way. “Well, that’s good to hear. The city that never sleeps and all that – can’t stop movin’ around.”

“I know exactly what you mean,” he said in agreement with a nod. “I already feel restless and I just got back.” He laughed and shook his head with a sigh. “I can’t wait to get back to it.”

“Thanks,” he said. “Well besides unpacking and all that, same old,” he laughed.

“Where have you been, anyways?” Sutton asked, giving a short glance over to him before shrugging her shoulders. “I’ve been making boss bitch moves, so I’ve been good. What about you?”

“Went back home for a bit. Had to deal with some family stuff,” he said with a smirk. “I’ve been good though. Better now that I’m back.”

“Yeah. Things are going great so far. Then again, I’ve only been here three weeks. I’m glad you’re doing well.” Ziggy gave the man a smile. “Oh boy do I know about trying to get back into a routine.”

“Well it sounds like there’s at least hope for me,” he laughed. “It’s a lot harder than it sounds, that’s for sure.”

“Hey!” Karla said recognizing the familiar face. Bouncing over she hugged him warmly. “I’m doing well! How about you? Anything interesting going on?” She wondered aloud. 

Matt chuckled a little and hugged her back, smiling. “I’m doing well too,” he said. “Nothing too much. I just got settled back. I gotta get in touch with a couple people but really? It almost feels like I never left.”

“As much as we’re enjoying beautiful Chile, I can’t wait to be back in New York,” said Hodaya, “I’m bringing back a lot of stuff like candy and these cool Moai paperweights, and I’ve got one for you. And yeah, October’s sneaking up fast. My sister, who is my maid of honor, is taking me and my bridesmaids somewhere that she’s keeping hush hush for now in August for the bachelorette party.”

“I bet. New York is one of those places that sucks you in, makes itself home, whether you want it to be or not,” he laughed. “That’s how I felt when I left.” He paused. “Oh yeah? Well I’m sure whatever she has planned will be a lot of fun,” he said.

“There’s not too much to tell,” he said with a shrug of his shoulders. “Been keeping busy with family business and all of that. Now I’m back and ready to start where I left off.”

Giving a small nod to the question, Val rubbed her lips. “More often than I like to admit. They are good kids, so it’s not a bad thing to see them, but I like my time on my own. I don’t have to watch what I say and whatnot. But I love them like they are my own.”

“I guess that makes sense,” he nodded. “And as a former terrible student, I will say I always enjoyed the teachers who seemed to enjoy their job,” he said with a light smile.
