your fall was not an accident. you were chosen for the damned.
I was about half in love with her by the time we sat down. That’s the thing about girls. Every time they do something pretty… you fall half in love with them, and then you never know where the hell you are. Girls. Jesus Christ. They can drive you crazy. They really can.

With a nod, Evangeliya started their mission. If they were going to be baking a cake from scratch, the right preparations were in order. She began finding the ingredients that he hadn’t claimed, which were all of them except baking powder. Effortlessly, she placed the flour on a kitchen island, soon followed by the other things she grabbed. Sugar, butter and eggs from the fridge. “ Hmmm, ” she hummed aloud. “ Do you need milk? ” It was a question she said to no one in particular, merely thinking aloud when she nearly ran into her fiancé. She had been so focused on her own endeavors, that she had completely overlooked how hard he was working to find a simple box. Because of the close encounter, she immediately turned away to hide her flushing cheeks, but began eyeing him from her side of the room. His struggle was so amusing, that she allowed herself to smile with pursed lips. When he found it, she tried to stifle a laugh, albeit poorly. How can someone go from so intimidating to so adorable? She nodded again, and grinned, “ I, uh.. Well, actually, I got the rest of the things that we need. I think. We’ll just have to see if it tastes, good, right? ” Her words weren’t confident, but her expression was. Promptly, she pulled a mixer out from behind a counter. “ Can you pass me the flour? ”
Resting his hands on his hips, a long breath exhaling out his mouth, Matteo watched her incredulously. She had already collected all the other ingredients? What was she Flash or something? And there he was, thinking he was all quick at finding the baking powder... Still, rubbing his hands together, Matteo didn’t dwell on the matter. “I’m sure with your direction it’s going to be delizioso,” he assured, nodding but then stopped. “-----flour?” As the question fell off his lips, Matteo unbuttoned his blazer and loosened his tie. There was no use in getting his clothes dirty. Stripping himself of the jacket and tie, Matteo pulled up the sleeves of his button-up. “Of course I can,” grabbing the bag of flour, the boy moved it closer to her. Grabbing the measuring cup and dipping it into the flour. “Like this?” he asked, a smile gracing his features at the spark of an idea. But should he? Would she react angrily or with a laugh? Was that how a prince should act? And then he did it. His wrist just flicked - and the flour went everywhere. The white puff of powder enveloping her face, and Matteo couldn’t hold back the laugh that roared. “Oh god, mi dispiace! I shouldn’t have done that.” And then came the panic. “Here, let me clean you up--”

How do you start a love poem that isn’t love quite yet? It escapes me. All I know Is there’s a sea rising above my head and sea foam washing into the chasms of my chest. The thought of you is a soft warmth against my face. And my god, I feel like I could fight the sun.

“I’m a bit cold but I just try to dress warm and I like coming home and staying in front of the fire place after I’ve been out. Would I prefer somewhere warmer? Yes. But I’m just trying to enjoy this, I suppose.”
Matteo thought it over. The picture she painted for him sounded actually nice. “When you say it like that it doesn’t sound so dreadful.. It’s stupid of me to complain about such things when our lives are in danger, isn’t it?”
amber jung:
“Shit.. Sorry. Didn’t mean to fall sleep here. Uh… I didn’t snore did I?”
Matteo shook his head, giving the other a reassuring smile. “ No, you didn’t snore. Might have drooled alittle, but I don’t think anyone noticed.”
evangeliya dragov:
“ I’ll teach you, ” Evangeliya offered with a smile. This is good, she thought. They were headed in the right direction in terms of their relationship, or rather, future one. While he was still a bit frigid, blatantly hesitant to accept her company, he was still willing to try. It was a foot into the door. That fact alone was enough for her to work with. In all due time, perhaps, he’ll be more willing to the idea of her being his wife. It was something she would accept, as well. “ Sure thing —.. ” She had stepped to follow him, when suddenly, she was being lead. His hand brushed against her own, which was enough for her to feel a hitch in her breath, and then, it was in hers altogether. Ohmygoodness, what if my hands become clammy? His are so warm.. It was a stark contrast to his cold demeanor, which made her realize he was only giving half of himself to her; he was allowing her into just the surface. Don’t hold too tightly. Don’t mess this up. Don’t let them intertwine. They weren’t soft, but weren’t calloused. Longer than hers, by far, to where she felt as though her hands were small. The simple act of holding his hand caused a flurry of butterflies in her stomach, and kept her silent until they reached the door. When he pulled away, her eyes had kept onto his fingers, watching them slip out of her grasp. She was certain she was blushing when she composed, “ U-Uh, yes. Yeah. ” With a step into the spacious room, she immediately opened the cupboards. “ I, um. We’ll need flour, baking powder, butter, sugar.. ” There was a whole list, and she riddled them off by memory. “ Got that? ”
As she went down the list, Matteo just stood there. His eyes darting around the room, not really knowing where to go. He wasn’t stupid or anything, he just wasn’t familiar with the room. There were far too many cabinets and cupboards for any one person to remember. But there he was trying to impress his Fiance - or in the very least have her like him. “Yeah - uhhh, right. I’ll find the uh - the baking powder...” As he spoke his legs started to dart around the room; his head dodging one of the many hanging pots & pans. In his wave of tyranny, Matteo nearly bumped into his Fiance. Muttering out an apology as his cheeks reddened, the prince began opening all the cabinets. There were so many ingredients. But just to his left, behind the package of breadcrumbs, his chocolate gaze landed on the baking powder. “Got it!” he exclaimed, leaping up before coughing when he realized how childish he probably appeared. “--- i mean, i uh, i found it...” Flattening his dress clothes, the prince sat the baking powder down on the table. “What else is on the list again? Sugar and....?” The question hung in the air as he moved closer to the princess; his hand coming up to scratch his chin.
willow breckenrich:
somehow willow had thought he could have given her what she desired, but it was as far from the truth as it possibly could. this had always happened between them. once they were on the verge of happiness, they found a way to ruin it. it being for one of them or in this case both of them. willow knew that if he realy cared, if he truly loved her he would have found a way. it was fighting for a lost cause and willow knew it. she needed to forget. she needed to move on. “ there won’t ever be an answer you like. ” even though she wanted to reject his touch, her body was unable to move away from his. her body was attracted to his like a magnet to iron. tears would wash over her cheek while her body reacted on the situation by shivering and heaving just the slightest. “ i rather you don’t. if we are done, we are done. i can’t have you in my life if you don’t want me to. not any longer. i would have done anything for you but if you push me away now… then.. then i am done. ”
Her answer was not what he had been expecting. He was hoping for something more heartfelt, not so downing. Did this mean they weren’t friends? That they could never be anything? Merely acquaintances who walked around each other, never saying hello or acknowledging the others existence? That sounded worse than death, and Matteo’s heart sunk deep into his chest. His arms loosening around hers and his body going numb. “Are you saying that... we can’t be friends if i don’t break off the engagement?” His forehead creased, taking a step back. Now it was his turn to be hurt and angry. “Then fine. If that’s what you think is best. I - I won’t be in your life. You won’t even know i’m here.” Moving further back, their bodies sinking further and further apart, Matteo grabbed onto the door handle. His eyes were heavy, already feeling misplaced in her presence as if he didn’t belong. “I really do hope you’re happy,” he whispered before his hand opened the door and he was gone.

Evangeliya offered him a shying smile, beginning to feel more comfortable as the conversation picked up. She always considered it her ticket into the lives of others; she found it easiest to feel calm when she could speak, and in return, listen. His softness, albeit subtle, was reciprocated. “ I, uh.. would love that. ” Her expression remained delicate, when she continued, “ Oh, me too! Il tasso di sopravvivenza delle mie creazioni non sono elevati. I was going there to practice. You see, I’m studying Culinary Arts. Entirely on my own, without a teacher. The kitchen staff back at home only watched me during my attempts, and it’s safe to say that I made a few of them cringe. ” She was eager when she laughed, “ But I’m trying hard! It’ll be a learning experience together. ” With an expectant gaze, she was slowly allowing herself to flow back into her natural demeanor. She tried to project her softness and heart; she wanted to show him that he could feel at ease. It was the least she could hope for when she took a step towards the exit of the library, willing him to come with her. “ C-..Could you lead the way? ”
Matteo nodded, still obviously timid about the whole baking adventure they’d be going on, but the more she talked about how she wasn’t that great at baking, the more the knots in his stomach untangled. “Okay, I think i’m following.. But I’m sure you’re still better than me. I wouldn’t even know where to start?” Forcing back a grin, his gaze followed hers as she laughed. The brunette’s eyes brightening as the whites of her teeth showed. Her laugh seemed so genuine with just the right touch of shyness that it caused a rush of warmth to course through him. Matteo kept his brows furrowed though, trying all he could to not show his enjoyment -- that he was actually having fun. Bowing his head at her request, Matteo sat his book down ( he would surely find it again ). “Of course, follow me.” Without warning he grabbed her hand and pulled her along and out of the Library. Their legs carrying them through one of the corridors, passing fancy frames and overpriced vases with intricate designs etched in, until they came to a halt in front of the kitchen. Letting her hand go, Matteo sneakily opened the door --- was he breaking some kind of rule? “Here we are. The kitchen. Do you think it’ll have everything you’ll need?”
