synopsis ⇢ this is how matthew's life would be if he didn't get 3rd place on boy's planet. hey, at least he met you.

notes ⇢ HEYYY GUESS WHOS BACK,,, well not really i’m just like popping back in after the comeback bc like WOWWW but hi i’ve been really stressed back in school doing a lot of exams and applications for nursing school. i just finished my teas and like the semester’s almost over so i’m so STRESSED AAAAAA and this has been in my drafts for so long bc yk i’m just manifesting myself getting into nursing school but i will def try to get more uploaded soon but i’m always tired from work and school eueueu got some drafts tho so i’m hoping to get that done soon. take care!!

perhaps it wasn’t the best idea to get an early start to studying for your pharmacology exam. not, it definitely wasn’t the best idea. every professor had always told you to review and study more than you thought you needed, so you tried your best to do just that. it was just that one confused topic led to another…and then to another until you realized it was nearing two. 

late nights were no stranger for a nursing student, but they were not recommended if you had plans for the morning after, especially if the morning after was your weekly 12-hour long clinical rotation. 

that was how you ended up with two and a half hours of sleep, a frantically thrown together lunch, missing materials, and a need for caffeine after you overslept your alarm by twenty minutes. you cursed your ability to sleep through alarms but also thanked yourself for setting alarms every five minutes in case this ever happened. 

the facility you were stationed at was a little over an hour from your apartment, so you would barely make it in time. there was realistically no time for you to stop by for coffee. usually, you would just make your own, but your unfortunate luck continued to prosper as you had forgotten to purchase more instant coffee in your last grocery run. however, seeing as how you nearly fell asleep behind the wheel the first ten minutes of your drive, you knew you needed it. if you died in a car crash, there was definitely no chance for you to make it to your clinical on time. 

you pulled into the parking lot at the tim hortons nearest to your apartment, seeing only one other car there who you assumed belonged to whatever employee was on opening duty. it was only 4:43. this location opened at 5. if you waited for it to open, you would definitely be late. even if you had just told yourself it was alright to be late, you were sure your instructor would not be pleased if you were, especially since this was an obstacle you could potentially get over. 

reluctantly, you shuffled your feet to the entrance, not worrying if you would wear the soles of your white shoes quicker than they were supposed to last. you didn’t want to bother the poor worker, but it was your only choice besides sitting in your car waiting for 17 minutes, which was definitely not practical. 

reaching the entrance, you peered in to see a young man diligently preparing for the day. you figured he would be far too busy to notice you (or it was just your excuse to walk back to your car and wait). still, mustered up the courage to wave at him from outside, refraining from knocking on the glass. 

by some dumb luck, he noticed you and came to the door from around the counter. he gave an apologetic smile as he opened the door, popping his head out. “sorry, we aren’t open yet.”

“actually, i was wondering if you could make an exception. i have to be at the hospital in an hour and it’s an hour drive from here,” you explained as you fidgeted with your watch. 

“oh definitely i can do that for you. that hospital must need you as soon as you can get there,” he commented as he opened the door wider for you to come in.

“oh no, they do not need me. yesterday i put on my sterile gloves wrong 4 times because of nervousness. if anything, they hope i’m not there,” you casually blurted out, which caused the employee to give you a concerned look. “i’m a nursing student, not a licensed healthcare provider. everyone always thinks of nurse or doctor when they see someone in scrubs, but i’m just a stressed person in college trying to get through.” 

“ah, makes sense. i thought you looked young to be finished with school already, but i didn’t want to say anything in case it was offensive,” he commented once you both were at the register, “what can i get for you?” 

“just a medium iced latte please,” you ordered as you dug through your wallet for the right card. 

“go ahead and insert your card whenever you’re ready.” 

and you did just that, receiving the receipt from the employee once the transaction was over. “it will be out shortly.” 

there wasn’t much for you to do but stand off to the side as you watched him work. as time went by, there was something familiar about him you couldn’t catch. it was as if you had seen him from somewhere, but the only places you really frequented were the library and hospitals. was it from tv? 

“here you go,” he announced as he slid the cup over the counter. 

as he was about to head back to finishing his preparations, you took a sip of your latte. with the newfound courage taken over you by the caffeine, your thoughts spilled out of your mouth. “do i know you from somewhere?” 

he chucked. “no, i don’t think you have. if so, it was a long time ago since i just got back to canada.”  

“you have a celebrity lookalike or something? i swear i’ve seen your face somewhere before,” you asked. 

“ever heard of boys planet?” 

then it hit you. you looked at his nametag. matthew. of course, he was the canadian from that korean reality show one of your friends had shown you. in fact, she begged for you to help her vote, and she was devastated when her one-pick didn’t make the group. and here he was, standing in front of you at tim hortons. 

“ohhh that makes a lot of sense. my friend had me voting every day for you when the show was airing. interesting seeing you working here. totally thought you’d continue trying to be an idol if you didn’t make the lineup.” 

“i missed home too much, i guess. i had it planned out during the finale too, the part time job i’d get if i didn’t make it. didn’t think i’d actually end up at timmies, but alas, things happen. thanks for your support though.” 

“don’t thank me,” you insisted, “i’m just an unsuspecting victim to desperate fans who wanted the best for their faves.” 

“i think that’s the best feeling though, meeting someone who doesn’t really care about what you’ve done or who you are. you’re the first person who’s actually recognized me, and i’m glad it’s not someone who would leak this information. though, i’m sure it will spread eventually.” 

you finally noticed what he was doing throughout the conversation: packaging a 10-count box of timbits. “here,” he called as he pushed yet another item over the counter, “on the house.” 

shaking your head, you quickly responded, “no i can’t.” 

“trust me, you’re going to need the boost of energy from the sugar for your shift. just take it, or else you’ll be late.” 

“oh shit,” you cursed, realizing you had spent too much time in the shop already, “fine, but i’ll be back and next time, i’m going to buy something for you to enjoy.” 

“mhm good luck!” 

you ran back to your car, relieved you decided to come in when you did when you saw a plethora of cars pulling in with two minutes until opening. the coffee was placed into the cupholder and the box onto your passenger seat. 

before beginning your long drive to your impending doom, you decided to have one of the timbits matthew had given you. that was when you noticed the small message written on the top of the box. 

good luck! you’re doing great things for the world :) come back anytime! i always open on fridays and will take you after 4:30. 

you smiled at the little note, popping one of the pieces into your mouth. it tasted way better than timbit you had ever had. you weren’t sure if that was just because they were fresh in the morning or the care you knew was packed into them. needless to say, you would wake up a little earlier on your fridays to go back to this location to see matthew.

can i request a 1:27am timestamp of ricky?? would it be better if i paint the scene a little ;-; idk if im making sense but like 1:27am and you cannot fall asleep and he is your neighbor/best friend/anything actually, and he knows your see not sleeping yet and ends up aging you to go on a late night drive/walk around aimlessly because it just rained and he knows you like the smell of rain (this is oddly specific.. sorry)

synopsis ⇢ after a rainy evening, you're left in your bed in the midst of night with a need to go outside and a neighbor who's willing to drive you around. (fluff)

usually the sound of rain puts people to sleep. it was peaceful, the pitter patter of the droplets hitting the cement at a rapid pace. 

that wasn’t the case for you. rain made you excited, ready to see the new world unraveled by the water decorating the earth (not to mention the fresh feeling you received when you inhaled the new smell of rain on the earth). 

at times like these, you would go outside, but considering it was the dead of the night, you refrained from doing so. it was far too dangerous to be going out on your own. you never knew what sick person could be waiting outside for people like you who wanted to wander into the unknown. 

instead, you resorted to looking outside your window at the new world you weren’t able to encounter. pulling away at your curtains, you rested your head on the window sill as you looked down from your room on the second floor of your home. while semi-blocked by the raindrops racing down your window, you still could see how the water beautifully spread around your front yard garden. 

you were about to go back to bed after admiring the world the rain brought from your room when you spotted another figure across from your room, your neighbor ricky who also happened to be looking out of his window. 

smiling, you waved to him. to which, he waved back with a small smile. before you did go back to bed, however, you noticed he was quickly typing something on his phone. was he trying to text you? no, he didn’t even have your number. 

he pressed his phone against the window. it held a message that was slightly hard to read because of how small the screen was. you had to squint to read it. 

wanna go for a late night drive with me? 

you thought about answering it with a simple nod, but soon decided you wanted to answer in a similar manner, pulling out your phone to type up a simple ‘yes.’

when you pressed your own message against the window, he gave you an ‘okay’ sign with his hands before disappearing from his window. you also went to your closet to put on a jacket in preparation for the likely cold weather that came after the rain. 

you carefully tiptoed down the stairs to escape the house, cautious to not knock anything over as you made your way to the door. if your parents knew what you were doing in the middle of the night, you would never see the light of day again. 

the breeze hit you immediately as you closed the door to your home. still, the fresh smell of the rain was worth it all. 

once you opened your eyes from taking in the air, ricky had already pulled up to the front of your home with his car. 

getting into the passenger seat, you quickly pulled the seatbelt across your body to maximize safety. though, since you two were likely not going too far from your neighborhood, it probably wasn’t needed. the slippery roads did make you think twice, however. 

“thanks for this ricky,” you mentioned as he began driving down the road, “i really wanted to go out, but it was hard since it’s.” 

you paused to read the time displayed on the clock. “1:27 in the morning.” 

“yeah no problem. i noticed you liked going out after it rains, so i thought i’d offer since i couldn’t sleep either,” he explained as he made a turn out of your neighborhood. 

“is it obvious?” you asked as you looked out at the scenery. it was so much prettier when you were closer to it. 

“a little,” he admitted, “but it’s a good thing. most people find sadness in the rain,” 

you shook your head. “it’s not like that for me at all. i think it’s beautiful really, the water falling on everything makes it shine in this way nothing else can shine. it’s not the same as spraying it with water either. everything just has a new beauty after being rained on.” 

“you really like the rain huh?” 

“i mean look at it!” you exclaimed, pressing your finger against the window to point at a patch of plants outside where the car had stopped at the red light, “isn’t it just the most beautiful thing you’ve ever seen. it’s glistening, ricky!” 

he turned his head quickly to see what you were pointing at but quickly turned back to focus on the road ahead of him. “i guess it is.” 

“don’t even get me started on the smell of it. it’s just the most peaceful thing in the world, being able to take in the smell of fresh rain.” 

ricky rolled down the window as you spoke, allowing the fresh breeze you preached about to seep into the car. both of you took a deep breath to take the air into your lungs. 

“yeah i guess that is really peaceful.” 

“right?” 

you placed your arm over the window, sticking your head out to take it all in, the world left behind by the rain. it was a whole different experience at night, and you were glad you were able to experience it with ricky.

synopsis ⇢ everyone has the upperclassman they find interest in and never talk to. hanbin just had the chance to see you again.

many people dislike the season of winter. hanbin was one of those many people. however, he didn’t hate the season because of its frigid weather like most people. he actually didn’t mind being wrapped up in layers of thick jackets. he actually preferred that to the summer as cozy outerwear always allowed his mind to be the most at ease. 

sung hanbin hated winter because it was the time that took you away from him. 

well, maybe saying it took you away was dramatizing it, but hanbin dreaded the days of winter leading up to mid-february, the time you had to graduate from high school. 

it didn’t even make sense why he felt that way about your departure from the school. not once had you ever really interacted, but he had heard so many things about you from his peers, one of the upperclassmen who didn’t look down on underclassmen. your kindness radiated throughout the school, even leaving its legacy when you left. 

it was such a shame hanbin never got the chance to speak to you. you always seemed to be swarmed by people, whether it be your own classmates or underclassmen. being so popular with underclassmen, hanbin always felt stuck in a sea of people where he was constantly swimming against the current as he was pushed out of crowds. 

he tried to not think too much of it after you graduated, but still, the two years he spent at the high school without the legendary upperclassman was filled with grudges against the winter season. 

a lot of people like the season of spring. hanbin was also a part of that lot. however, he didn’t like the season because of the beginning of warmth like the vast majority. he could care less about it because of how his allergies acted up in the presence of the flowers blooming. 

sung hanbin loved spring because it was the time that brought you back to him. 

it was yet another dramatization of the situation, but it was true. the spring did somehow make your lives cross paths again once he entered university after his own graduation. 

“hey everyone. welcome to lab. i’m going to be your ta for this semester. i took this class almost two years ago, so hopefully i’ll still be of some help. let’s have a great semester.” 

he didn’t think he would be seeing you as one of the trusted instructors for the many science labs all over campus. he didn’t even know that was possible, but he soon found out many undergraduate and graduate students took offers to teach labs in exchange for some of their tuition paid off. 

this spring really was his chance to finally speak to you after a year of failed attempts. unlike before, he had a foolproof plan to see you: office hours. 

that is, if your office hours weren’t always filled to the brim. he didn’t even know who that guy sitting to your right was. he wasn’t even in your lab section! 

he scanned the corner of the coffee shop where you had decided to hold your office hours, students on your left and right trying to get your attention about one of the formulas on the lab worksheet. he certainly didn’t expect you to wave him over when you spotted him cluelessly looking around. 

“it’s a little cramped here, but go ahead and pull up a chair! if you need anything, don’t be afraid to get my attention,” you explained as you became preoccupied with another student. 

hesitantly, hanbin took one of the chairs from a nearby table after confirming with the occupant that it wasn’t being used. he sat down, and pulled out his lab notebook to mimic the actions of the few students looking to learn. most of them spent time ogling you instead of actually making an attempt to learn. it seemed even in college you remained as a legendary upperclassman everyone knew. they were bombarding your office hours after all. 

who was hanbin to judge though? he was practically doing the same thing. 

unlike the others who spent their free time dangling their feet as they sat on tables surrounding you, however, hanbin would make use of his time there. he hoped in the time it took him to review his lab notes and do homework, the crowd around you would eventually dissipate. 

well, it didn’t. it seemed the crowd that surrounded you only continued to grow as you became swarmed with questions from students who actually wanted to learn. slowly, it was like high school again where he was constantly pushed out by those who wanted only a chance to speak with someone as well-known as you. 

“these are all great questions, but i’ve stayed a little too long already. we’ve been taking up a lot of space in this coffee shop, so i think it’s time for me to go home and do my own work. i appreciate all of you coming to further your knowledge. if you need anything else, send me an email, and i’ll try to answer in a timely manner.” 

and just like that his chance to talk to you was over. he sighed and followed the actions of the other students, packing up all the stuff. he was disappointed in himself. he hadn’t even asked you anything related to the class, let alone anything about yourself to get to know you better. 

he was content with it. sitting in your presence was calming, allowing him to finish all of his homework in a timely manner. he could always try to talk to you again next week during your office hours. even if he wasn’t able to, at least he was able to finish his work. 

still, there was a part of him that was uncontent with the encounter. he really wanted to have at least one conversation with you. maybe that was why he was taking a little longer than the rest to put his things away. 

slowly, everyone said their goodbyes to you as you packed up your devices and papers from the table. as you were about to leave, hanbin sped up his packing in an attempt to leave the door with you and wish you a safe trip home. 

instead, his binder fell, several papers falling out of it and spreading all over the floor. he quickly bent down to clean them up before anyone could slip on them. that was probably one of the most unfavorable things in a coffee shop: slipping on some stray papers and spilling a drink because some random college student was trying to give himself a cliché moment with someone he idolized.

he shoved his papers into his binder without any second thought of organization. he was more focused on trying to not become the most hated person in the coffee shop. 

“here, let me help.” 

well at least, he got the interaction he so desperately wanted. this wasn’t how he anticipated it to be though, the two of you on the floor of a coffee shop trying to gather all of his papers. 

“thanks,” he mumbled as he shoved more of them into a pocket of the binder. 

“oh, you got through this problem,” you commented as you handed him one of the worksheets from the previous lab, “everyone was having trouble with it today.” 

he smiled, glad the interaction got to be a little more. “oh, well i was just listening to the conversations you were having with everyone. your explanations really helped.” 

“aw really? i’m still lacking knowledge, so i’m glad i could be of help in the background of your studying.” 

all he could do was nod. this wasn’t a conversation that could particularly lead anywhere, so he didn’t want to drag it out too long. you seemed to be in a rush to leave, so he didn’t want to keep you longer than needed. 

once he realized there weren’t many more papers scattered, he tried to assure you that he could do it on his own. 

“nonsense,” you retorted, “there are only a couple left. don’t worry i’m not doing anything important after. i just wanted to go home.” 

he chuckled at your insistence and diligence in helping him. you still were the kind upperclassmen everyone praised you to be. nothing about you had changed other than age. 

“thanks.” it was all he could really say. 

“mhm–” 

when he heard your pause, he looked over to see what you had stumbled upon. had he left something in there he wasn’t supposed to? were you going to find some hidden dark secret he had been trying to hide? did he even have dark secrets? 

“you also got invited to this?” you asked, showing him a flyer he had been sent by his old high school to talk to some of the students. it was a common occurrence for some of their most popular alumni to be asked to come back as per request of the students. he had never seen you come back, but he was sure you were always invited. you were spoken about like some celebrity, so why wouldn’t they invite you back?

“yeah, but i don’t know if i’ll be attending,” he admitted as he took the paper from you. 

as the two of you stood up, you added, “i also went to high school there.” 

“i know.” immediately after blurting out the response, hanbin realized how odd his statement must have sounded. “i mean uh–” 

you laughed, placing a hand on his shoulder to reassure him you didn’t find anything wrong with what he said. “no i get it. they always invite popular alumni back, so i understand my name is well-known around there.” 

he shook his head. “you don’t understand. you’re a living legend. even the new students who know nothing about you would hear all these crazy stories.” 

you raised an eyebrow. “crazy stories? i don’t think i did anything crazy while in high school.” 

“they say a lot of things that are inaccurate, but everyone always is wondering why the esteemed upperclassman never comes back. you’d be a celebrity if you went back there,” he rambled. 

“what about you then. you got an invite. won’t they be waiting for you to come back too?” you wondered. 

“i just graduated. my demand is not as great as yours. they would go ballistic seeing you back on that campus.” 

“hmmm what do you think about going back together? we could give them even more stories to tell. two legendary upperclassmen ending up at the same university and coming back to visit together. it would be one heck of a ride for them.” 

he thought about the proposal as he zipped up his backpack. it did sound like a good idea. it also gave him more reason to talk to you. 

“sure that sounds fun.” 

“you know me, what should i call you?” you asked as you two finally exited the coffee shop. 

“hanbin. sung hanbin.” 

“well then sung hanbin, my successor of legendary upperclassman, i’ll see you in lab next week. stay behind, and we can talk about our plans more.” 

yeah, sung hanbin’s favorite season really was spring. spring brought him a miracle. spring brought him you.

synopsis ⇢ he promised to find you with one simple line, and so he did. (part 1)

how you came to be a pianist, you weren’t sure. your life had pushed every agenda but that of a pianist. while your parents had urged you and your siblings to play musical instruments, they didn’t want you to play the piano. 

what they had against the piano, you also weren’t sure. when asked about musicality, you only ever expressed interest in the piano much to their dismay. they refused your ambition without much explanation and forced you to take on the violin instead. 

needless to say, your skills in the violin were even worse than that of a two year old playing with two left hands. both your instructor and classmates often advised you to take up a different instrument because of your inability to play. 

however, you didn’t have much say in it until your instructor spoke to your parents about your…lack of talent. she mainly blamed it on your hands, the piano hands she called them. your long and slender fingers were more fitted for playing the keys of a piano, not holding the bow of a violin. 

it was only then you got your parents' explanation of why they never wanted you to play, the strange stories they had been told about the bad luck of pianists. you had no idea where they got the story from, a young pianist who was exiled after expressing too much musicality to a prince. that seemed like a story only a fairytale could bring, but they insisted on one of your ancestors seeing it while working in the alleged palace. 

your parents’ superstitious ways almost cost you your whole career, your whole passion. almost. you managed to convince them eventually with the help of your former violinist classmates, forging stories about the mishaps of violinists to show that every musician had their ups and downs. only then did they hesitantly let you play the piano. 

you weren’t sure about a lot of things, but you were sure that it was their hesitant agreement that allowed you to be on stage that night, telling your story and journey after a long night of playing. even if it was their fault you could not play, it was ultimately their blessing that allowed you to start your journey as a pianist. 

“it’s a funny story really,” you laughed, “my parents' plans for me as a violinist didn’t work out because you really can’t let anyone else tell you how to live your life.” 

and this was the moment where you gave your own advice to the aspiring people in your crowd, advice you accumulated from your own hardships trying to achieve this dream. “

“nothing is impossible. dreams are for you to follow, not for them to stay as dreams. if you love to do something, you should do it, even if there is something holding you back. this is your life, and you get to live it for yourself. this isn’t a life someone else dictates for you. you are your own person. you can make your own decisions. you can follow your dream if you believe you can. i believe you can.”

with a round of applause, it was time for you to get off the stage. your long speech towards the end always seemed to sway the hearts of so many people, inspiring them to follow their own dreams. this time, though, you shook the heart of someone else in that crowd in a way that was not only inspirational.

you wouldn’t say you were famous. you were simply known enough to have some people lining up near the exit, hoping to catch you for a quick picture or autograph. it wasn’t anything like having paparazzi. no, you weren’t that well-known, and you were glad about that fact. having few people who loved you enough to do this meant you could accommodate each of their requests. you had time to spare, so why not give back to the people who made your career possible in the first place. 

you signed things without hesitation: pads of paper, shirts, even someone’s hand. you did whatever it was that would make those people happy. you took pictures doing all sorts of poses to make sure everyone had an original experience with you. you even answered several wacky questions people had the burning desire to ask. 

then you got to one particular person, holding out a pad and a pen. this person had a very specific question to ask you, a question normal people usually didn’t ask. they asked more random things about your life: your favorite color, food spots you recommended in the city, if you had ever been to the mountains. people rarely asked about anything regarding pianos as that’s all they saw on stage. 

“do you prefer beethoven or mozart?” 

you paused at your signature, forgetting momentarily how to even sign your name. the question threw you off guard, but you tried your best to pick yourself back up. something about it just seemed familiar, but you couldn't understand why. 

“mozart,” you replied as you continued your signature from where you had stopped. it was probably nothing. the debate of beethoven vs. mozart was so prominent in all classical music enjoyers, so this person was probably just curious about your own preferences. 

“...because he’s more fun, right?” 

you finished your signature, but your pen didn’t move from the paper. you were frozen again. no one knew about the reason you liked mozart. most people had more legitimate reasons as to why they preferred one composer over the other. for you, however, you just enjoyed the fresher feeling that came from mozart’s pieces. you never wanted to admit that to the regular enjoyers of classical music.

“yeah,” you breathed, looking up from the pad of paper to meet the eyes of the person who asked you the question. it was only then that it all came back to you. 

just remember! you love mozart. i love beethoven. 

“and…you love beethoven.” 

the stranger–well could you even call him that if you remembered all this–smiled at your response. “i found you.” 

as much as you wanted to say more to him, there were many more people who demanded your attention, and you wanted to give them their time as well. you looked at him and then turned back to the man. “my car’s the white hyundai. i’ll be out when i finish. we can talk then.” 

he gave you a nod before disappearing out of the crowd that soon engulfed you with more requests for pictures, signatures, and answers to other strange questions you had.

it was never smart to meet a person in the dark, especially if this person wasn’t someone you had ever met before. this was different, though. the moment you looked into his eyes, you knew the history you had together, the history not within this life. 

the reason that was possible was another thing you were unsure of. none of that really mattered though. what mattered was that you were able to see him again, after all the mishaps in your previous life (all of which had slowly come back to you throughout the course of the night). 

looking around for him, you were startled when he came up behind you. you gasped. 

“your highness!” you covered your mouth at the instinctive exclamation. it was strange to be calling him in such a manner, in this society where there was no more monarchy. 

he chuckled at your surprised response. “you can call me taerae. there’s no more strict titles you have to adhere to.” 

you raised an eyebrow. “you kept your name. that’s kind of strange to hear.” 

“as did you,” he commented, “i almost thought it was too good to be true, but when i heard the advice you gave during your closing speech, i knew. i had to make sure that you remembered though, hence the strange question.” 

you shook your head. “it wasn’t strange at all. it was what i asked you in our first conversation, so it was very key. you did say for me to remember that you love beethoven and i love mozart, so it stuck.” 

“i’m glad. i’ve been to so many recitals of pianists, asking the same question over and over. some answer beethoven, so i knew that couldn’t be you. some answer mozart but then give me judgemental looks when i ask them if it’s because he’s fun.” 

you couldn’t hold in your laughter after thinking about all the embarrassment he had to go through to reach you. “well, my reasons for that preference were simple. i was simple-minded then. i just wanted to play music.” 

“are you still like that now? both your preference and simple-mindedness,” he wondered. 

“well i like to think i play music just for the sake of it and nothing else,” you began, “as for my preference. i will always like mozart, but beethoven has been growing on me lately.” 

taerae gave you an intrigued look before you added on. “especially, piano sonata no. 17. i’ve grown to love tempest so much, and i wondered why. now i remember that it was your favorite.” 

an approving nod by taerae proved that your memory did not fail you. 

feeling the cold air against your skin, a shiver washed over you. “do you have a ride? anywhere to be?” 

when he shook his head no, you knew what had to be done. unlocking you car, you pulled the passenger seat open for him. “get in taerae, let’s catch up.” 

seeing how his smile grew to be bigger than you had ever seen, you had to know why. “why are you so smiley this evening?” 

taerae merely shrugged before entering the car. “you’ve just never called me by my name before. it was always the fancy titles, so it’s really calming to hear.” 

you stuck your tongue out at him. “oh shut up.” 

and then you slammed the door in his face. it was going to be a long night of catching up, but you were sure the two of you would be connected in no time. 

there was one thing you wanted to make sure before you drove off, however. 

“do you still play the guitar?” 

“always, i’ll play for you again sometime since you’ve played again for me tonight.”
