Something really irks me in the ACOTAR fandom, and hence the following rant...

SJM specifically wrote the Bat Boys, and all the Illyrians, in a way that makes them POC coded. Their skin colour is often described as golden brown, hello. (Though their struggles and cultural aspects aren't all the same as real world POCs, as they're a fantasy people).

But almost every post or video I see, where someone tries to fancast them, is full of white men (I like Henry Cavill but he's not Rhysand or Cassian, omg stahp). They may be tanned or covered in bronzer, but they're white.

Even Mathew Daddario is white (99% times people want him as Azriel).

Like, is it really that hard to accept that dark skinned fantasy races exist? That not every role is meant to be taken over by white people? There are enough white coded characters within the ACOTAR series, so there's no dearth of options there.

Why must the POC characters be whitewashed too? It frustrates me to no end.
