What  It Takes to Move Forward (2009)

I have listened to this song like 30 times or more in my life, but as I was listening today I noticed it could be interpreted way differently than I have interpreted it before. Before, I thought it was about a break-up, and the narrator is encouraging the subject to leave him because the narrator wouldn’t be able to give the subject everything he or she needs to be happy (very Kierkegaardian interpretation).

Now, when I listened to it today I interpreted it being about the narrator impregnating his girlfriend and her deciding to get an abortion. Basically, how guilty the narrator feels about doing this. Here are the lyrics though if you want to form an interpretation yourself:
