What Isn't Steam Powered Giraffe? ... us! After being mistaken for members of the actual band at Walter Robotics Expo, and earning ourselves the nickname ‘the SPG lookalikes’, a conversation with former Steam Powered Giraffe member Matt Smith (not the Doctor) himself led us to take on the official title of “Matt Smith’s Other Band: Robot Powers!” Who are we? We are group of best friends who share a love of theatre, arts, and cosplay. Our names are Sn0w, Trollki, Spencer, Karli, Kellan, Kelsey, & Halcyon, and we love Steam Powered Giraffe. This blog is dedicated to our adventures and shenanigans.

Hey guys!

So, so sorry for the literal years of radio silence. It’s been a hectic time! We’ve had members leave and members join, all without saying anything- and we’re really sorry it’s been so long! Moving forward, we will do our best to keep you guys updated. We’re still here! We’re still alive and planning exciting things! So definitely stay tuned, and sorry again for the years of nothingness.

First big announcement? We will be at the 10 Year Anniversary Show in Escondido! And we couldn’t be more excited!

So, if you are attending the show, feel free to come say hi to us! We will be in purple shirts that have our names and “Matt Smith’s Other Band” across the front in white letters! Sn0w, Trollki, Karli, Kellan, and RV will be in attendance! Can’t wait to see you there! (Because of the way we are travelling, we more than likely will not be in our cosplays that you all love so much. We’ll make it work, though!) Also, feel free to track the “mattsmithsotherband” tag for updates, in case we post from our personal accounts!

WWWC5 Lineup!

Sorry for the delay! It’s been a hectic few months for us! Sn0w and Karli will be attending WWWC5 all weekend, with Kellan joining Saturday evening and all day Sunday. The lovely Miss Heather will also be with us all weekend. Here’s our lineup! Be sure to look for us:

Friday: A certain Mouse, wearing a certain pair of gold and blue shoes, will be exploring the old west for the first time with the help of Princess Rapunzel. Be sure to stop them and say hi! And don’t forget to check out those shoes!

Saturday: Accompanied by Walter Worker Kaylee, Miss Rabbit will be making her WWWC debut! She’s never been to this con, so be sure to make her feel welcome!

Sunday: Walter Worker Kaylee has her work cut out for her: Beebop will be returning to WWWC, but he won’t be alone. Be on the lookout for not only Beebop, but also QWERTY. And, of course, Lil’ Stove will be there too.

Favorite member from Matt Smith’s Other Band: Sn0w ( habitmademedoit )

(transparent for his own use~) aGH, i forgot the little sparkles on his rose but here we go! A thing!! I would like to start of by saying, I actually know Sn0w personally, and he really is a swell dude, not to mention an amazing cosplayer. He never seizes to impress me, and surely he never seizes to impress his admirers and kohais either. Going on to say i know him personally, he actually comes to me when he is feeling down, and i always try my best to help a him, and he goes through some really tough things. I thought it was about time i made him a little post to look at every now and then to know that, i care for him, a ton. I think its safe to say he trusts me, and though we don’t talk often, and i don’t do a lot of venting, I feel as if i can trust him completely as well. He is a really strong person you know? as weak as we humans can be, he is really really strong, one of the toughest guys i know, and one of the bravest to put himself out there and to talk about things that he necessarily isn’t comfortable talking about. It takes a lot of courage to do that, and since i have met him, he has only gotten braver with talking to people and making friends. He has also gotten better with handling things, and though the progression is small it is extremley valuable, and the affects are big. Not to mention, as much as i help Snow, he helps me too. When he is happy, i’m happy. A small description for Sn0w: One of the lead members of Matt Smith’s Other Band: Sn0w! Other wise known for his amazing cosplays such as Upgrade, Rabbit, and miss bunny bennett and so on! You could consider Sn0w the main man of the ‘band’, he is always keeping us updated and engaged in the new news of what his cosplay group is doing next, and his enthusiasm and dedication to his group is to be admired. He brings the team to life! You could say without Sn0w, it couldn’t quite be Matt Smith’s other band. -with love Kerri

Unfortunately, due to a faulty flash drive, all of the pics I got of my Miss Rabbit at the photoshoot I attended before Fan Fest were corrupted and lost. It was my first time ever doing this version of Rabbit, and I changed up the makeup a little bit before debuting her at Fan Fest that following weekend. So here are a few pics that I got of myself before and after the shoot, just for reference. Since I probably won’t do this version of the makeup again anytime soon. So.. Enjoy! ~ Sn0w
