this recent trend of teenagers using genAI chatbots to talk to fictional characters is fucking grim. what you should be doing is roleplaying on private messages with your friends until the lines between you & the characters begin to blur & you develop some very complex & confusing feelings for each other that culminate in a massive fallout you dont have the tools to process nor understand
Well another job has come and gone, the indie company I worked for shuttered their entire social and marketing department (which included me) yesterday and I'm back to job hunting.
They laid me off with no severance and only "paying out my last two weeks" as part of my final pay. So things are once again going to get tight financially around here and I hadn't even been able to financially recover from the previous layoff I suffered.
If you have leads to work (Social Media Manager, Community Manager, Marketing Manager, Voice Acting, or literally anything) please send it along my way!
But if you have the ability to donate or contribute to help keep us afloat while I'm once again on the job hunt, you can use any of these below:
The job hunt continues, I have a few jobs I'm in the running for but all hiring for anything has slowed down for the remainder of 2025 and I likely won't hear anything back until 2026 at this point.
Add in the fact that December is typically the worst month of the year for content creators (how I make some money while looking for work) that means we're gonna need some help making rent this month again.
So, if you can spare it and help us afford rent/bills for the month, we'd really appreciate it!
the worst part about grief is that it feels like the world should be horrendously earth shatteringly changed, and to an extent it IS but its also the same. to everyone else it's just another tuesday. the world moves on. you have to go grocery shopping.
Keep making myself like choke laughing because I keep imagining a Netflix documentary following Augustus Gloop 20 years after the chocolate factory incident, heavily advertised across the platform and titled "Augustus: After the Gloop" like with his face in shadow or something
sometimes I randomly think about the time a girl posted in this girls only Facebook group I’m in telling everyone how she broke up with her boyfriend and he lied saying that he lost the spare key she gave him, only to then break into her apartment when she wasn’t home and steal the cat they’d adopted while they were together, but then he denied having done this and she didn’t really have proof that he took the cat since he wouldn’t let her come into his place and look for it. And then another girl saw this post and knew her ex-boyfriend, and she was like “girl. I used to hook up with your mans back in xxxx and I still have his number. If you want, I’ll hit him up and get him to invite me back to his place and see if your cat’s there.” And the OP was like “bet.”
So this woman hit up homie dog, asked him out for drinks, went home with him, slept with him, and then woke up in the middle of the night and TOOK THE CAT. Like she had only said that she would confirm if the cat was there but then she took it upon herself to steal this woman’s cat back. Like she full on Trojan horsed this man and then hit up homegirl like “I got the goods. Where you wanna meet.” And then the two of them posted a photo of them together with the cat to the group.
And I just think women supporting women is so beautiful.
Ive been to this art installation when it was in Seattle it was made by an indigenous artist if I remember correctly it has small patches of astroturf in front of a black and white American flag with a sign that invites people “kneel and join in the screams of the American national anthem”
This piece is called Neon American Anthem by indigenous artist Nicholas Galanin “to mourn the loss of lives, freedoms, and safety for people and lands subjected to American violence, and to protest continuing oppression.”
Text below the line to make it easier to read!
[Image 1 Text: I’VE COMPOSED A NEW AMERICAN NATIONAL ANTHEM TAKE A KNEE AND SCREAM UNTILL YOU CAN’T BREATHE /end]
[Image 2 Text: If we sell you our land, you must remember, and teach your children. that the rivers are our brothers and yours, and you must henceforth give the rivers the kindness you would give to any brother.
The wtite man does not understand. One portion of land is the same to him as the next, for he is a wanderer who comes in the night and borrows from the land whatever he needs. The earth is not his brother, but his enemy and when he has won the struggle. he moves on. He leaves his fathers graves behind and he does not care. He kidnaps the earth tam is thiaten And he does not care. The father's graves and the children’s brithright are forgotten by the white man, who treats his mother the earth and his brother the sky as things to be bought plundered, and sold like sheep, bread, or bright beads. In this way, the dogs appetite will devour the rich earth and leave only a desert.
Neon American Anthem is a participatory installation designed to activate the American Art galleries at the Seattle Art Museum. The work offers visitors a place to kneel and follow the directive of a neon sign on the wall that reads, "I've composed a new American national anthem: take a knee and scream until you can't breathe." The work creates an intersectional space for catharsis; to mourn the loss of lives, freedoms, and safety for people and lands subjected to American violence, and to protest continuing oppression.
The neon sign embodies capitalism, its text a pointed reference to the murders of Eric Garner, George Floyd, Tyre Nichols and all people of color who have been murdered at the hands of police and agents of the American state. Asking participants to take a knee is a position of deference turned refusal; to scream until you can't breathe encompasses protest aimed at tearing down the systems built to enforce Whiteness, White privilege, heteropatriarchy and capitalist control. / end]
