"Uhhhh the economy is doing fine because my chart says so" Then your chart fuckin sucks, bro. Your data collection is shit, your data processing is shit, your entire methodology is shit.

Is anyone else starting to feel kind of wary about the increasingly common narrative that "women's bodies are so different to men's that modern scientific recommendations do not apply to them"?
Like. There is a significant gap between 'a lot of studies do not take into account variations caused by things like female hormone cycles, which can limit how generalisable they are' and 'medical science does not apply to women', and the latter just seems to create a situation rife for bad faith actors and snake oil salesmen to reassure you that actually, THEY have the answers, because THEY listen to women, and if you simply pay them for their online subscription service-

Meeting Tsul'reksh was probably the best thing to happen to tyranny thus far in her journey in regards to truly setting up her arc. Her and her sisters were created with the specific purpose to serve the creed, and we can assume she's had no other interactions with demons apart from them. The sisters have more human names. Not only that, but despite them still being obviously demons, they also have more appealing/palatable bodies. They were brought into this environment that is forcing them into a specific mold, and yeah, Tyranny might be aware that the creed is bullshit (she was in on it after all) but she still subscribes to their belief that demons are inherently corrupt creatures with no chance of being "saved". She was never given the chance to understand what she truly is outside of the propaganda that's surrounded her from day one.
And Tsul'reksh knows the creed is full of crap too. She also knows what she is and who she is. When she tells Tyranny that her/the knife's purpose is to hurt others, it's not said out of malice, but out of understanding. Because she's had the years of experience when it comes to battling with her own nature. It's not something to be afraid of, but rather something to work with. She knows what it's like to have to navigate this plane, when to conform and when to not. In a way, this is almost like a glimpse into what Tyranny's future could look like - one where she let's go of her fear and embraces what she is. Because she simply just is.
(and then on the other side of things, Araq sort of acts like this extreme mirror to where Tyranny is at right now. Desperate and in pain and yearning the freedom that the "Light" offers.)

Also can I just say how happy I was that Thaisha was in that scene with Yanessa. Because that challenge loud and clear from the Lloy in the campaign about "Redemption from what" was so needed. It's such a corrosive idea coming from the Candescent creed that we have all inherently done something wrong, but it's specially heinous to ask for penitence from a people who have been treated as inferior for so long. You will not take the energy of the rebellion, turn it inward into self-hatred and use it for your own good without pushback in Dol-Makjar while Thaisha Lloy is standing right there.
This is also very interestingly in conversation with Tyranny's scene with Tsul'rekshi where it seems like Tyranny has internalized this belief of the creed, that her inherent nature is sinful and evil. Sure Tsul'rekshi might agree that their nature is inherently one of destruction, and I think the situation with the knife proves that this is something beyond Tyranny's complete control, but this doesn't mean that it should be done in evil. If anything Tsul'rekshi's nature to "in every age tear down the highest tower" is a noble cause. After all, there are many things in this world worth destroying and nobody should apologize for doing just that.
the entire cooldown had me in fucking stitches, but I happened to pause on this exact frame while already nearly in tears from laughing and it fucking broke me.
"Thank you, you're a real one." "I am a real one. And so are you, sister."
