maybe im too revolutionary girl utenapilled but considering yoshikis circumstances (everyone for years telling him to cut his hair ie for yoshiki conform to their expectations of what a boy should be, read: heterosexual and masculine and strong and energized etc) i thiiiiiiink it does not symbolize *positive* change like ive seeing so many people saying.

specially considering it's framed as a compulsive decision on his end, right after his mom (who forgot about him for three hours) made him promise he essentially wouldn't kill himself in the near future.

and before that he told asako, a friend, a secret he thought he would take to his grave, and even though her reaction was the best it could have been, now somebody else knows of a part of him that he thinks intrinsically makes him a monster, unworthy to be in society.

and before THAT he saw "hikaru" kill again, despite the promise that he would carry the sin of murder with him, he was still in shock for hoooouuurs after passing out because of course!!! it's logical!! he's a teenager!!

he's not in the most sane state of mind actually and that haircut cannot symbolize "change for the better" or a "renewal of oneself" for yoshiki, it's gonna push him deeper into a hole of self repression.
