I think in progressive spaces, the term "white" is widely used to mean "culturally middle class". And while I would prefer people just say "culturally middle class", because it's more accurate, "white" is a term that gets used widely for this idea (especially in America—I wonder why that could be...). Anyway, you will understand a lot of social justice discourse better if you understand that this is actually what people mean when they talk about "white feminism", "white leftism", and so on a good chunk of the time.

I'm not sure 'middle class' is quite the right way to put it but yeah like 90% of qualities ascribed to 'white culture' in a DEI context that aren't just explicit racism fail to apply to, idk, the populace of rural West Virginia. Having another word for 'the expected norms and habits of the hegemonic culture of the English-speaking professional class in the United States' might reduce the number of people who keep accidentally calling Asian people white* though, which would be nice. *accidentally in that they usually end up publicly apologizing and presumably regret having said it in public at least, idk.

sorry why does north korea need us sanctions lifted when they have ample trade with the prc, russia, saudi arabia etc? perhaps they should finally have the dignity to actually declare peace if they actually want notional access to American consumerist tchotchkes. after all the refusal to declare peace with the united nations is the bulk of embargo and sanction actions against them. honestly i don't see why adding them as just another resource and cheap labor basket to extract from for america is going to help any average citizen there - and that's the only kind of economic relation they would have to the us if they finally made peace and were open to american trade. its after all the role they have for their current trade partners.

Trade is positive-sum because of comparative advantage. Everyone benefits from getting to trade with everyone else.
