Bohemian Inspired Wedding

“Millenials,” our youngest adult generation, have reached the milestone in their lives where they want to start settling down and get engaged.  The” Millenials” are a throwback generation inspired by nostalgia, vintage and returning to a simpler time.  They live in a world where owning records, watching classics like Breakfast at Tiffany’s, and nontraditional weddings have made a huge comeback.  If you are looking for a nontraditional and Bohemian inspired wedding, here are our consultants’ suggestions.

A Bohemian Bride (and Groom) is laid back, and wants to focus on the experience and love over the grandiose and lavish.  So instead of going for your typical wedding venue, try some place rustic with wooden interior adorned with Christmas lights; or an outdoor setting in the woods for an emphasis on nature and flowers.  Simple, but thoughtful little touches like flower crowns, diy decorations, and candles can make a huge difference.  Instead of going for a veil, try a headpiece with crystals or lace.  Handmade signs like chalkboards and old wooden frames for table numbers that can be done by the bride and her bridal party are a great way to save money and bond with the girls.  If you know it’s going to be nice outside, adding lots of streamers or ribbons in your wedding colors can add texture and beauty to the event.

The best part of any bohemian wedding is the dress because the Bohemian bride wears something trendy, ethereal, light, and comfortable.  The most popular wedding dress from our store for this type of wedding is the coveted Watters Jacinda.  This dress has a beaded, clear bodice with intricate layers of tulle flowing throughout the skirt and pearl buttons down the back.  What make this dress perfect for a Bohemian bride are the flow of the tulle and the lack of weight most traditional wedding dresses have from crinoline or boning.  The slip and the ribbon can be different colors than your average white or ivory.  The slip comes in white, ivory, amaretto or bronze; the ribbon can come in gardenia, vanilla bean, whisper pink, platinum and taupe.  If budget is important to you, the vintage inspired WTOO Hannah is another great option. You will be thrown back to the 60’s with this simple wedding dress with a classic bateau neckline decked out in Parisian lace. If sparkle is your thing, the Allure 9107 is perfect.  It is a light lace dress with a silk charmeuse lining that shimmers throughout the entire event.  Any of these light and airy dresses would be an excellent fit for the bride who is looking for a more creative and nontraditional wedding because she will surely be comfortable in any of them.

This is an exciting trend for weddings because couples are no longer putting the focus on expensive and traditional decorations or venues. The focus is on the love between the lucky couple and everyone having a great time.  After all, isn’t that what the wedding night is all about?
