A father to me is... well... A man who was given the joy of taking care of a child, whether that child was adopted or was the result of sexual reproduction.

My personal definition of daddy is merely a way that young children refer to their fathers. (In cases of my Daughter, this title is used on occasion. Mostly when she's very upset at me.)
