I think many people miss how comfortable Hinata is with his femininity and enjoys activities that considered traditionally feminine.

Aside from having a naturally nurturing and caring personality.

He also seems to have enjoyed the baking meeting up enough to want to stay a little longer.

Things like pop music and romance books, he doesn't shy away from engaging with it. Although it'd be hard to say he prefers it over other genres.

There are also many moments in non-canon/semi-canon materials where he can be seen engaging in activities that usually resonates with girls.

I am always fascinated by the fact that while Hinata's biggest insecurity is being an average person, living a boring life Komaeda's biggest desire is to be an average person, living a boring peaceful life.

Dare I say this normality of Hinata is one of the things that attracted Komaeda to him?

What's interesting is that this line specifically from Enoshima AI is directed at the relationship between Kuzuruyu and Hinata.

Out of all survivors Kuzuruyu is the only one who have lost a girl he loves, Pekoyama. Yet instead of adding something like "friends you made along" the AI chooses to add "the guy you hate" which can only be meant to Hinata since he was the one who cared about the death of "the guy he hated"

It's as if the relationship between Kuzuruyu and Pekoyama and Hinata and Komaeda are compatible for one another. And I believe they are in a way.

Aside from obvious romantic subtext, I feel as if both Kuzuruyu and Hinata had someone who they wanted to understand but couldn't truly understand before they lost them. And the thought of never getting them back, not before they could fully understand that person would definitely make them anxious. I feel like Enoshima AI knew that and that's why she added this line.

In one of Light Novels (called Super High School Level Friendship) Hinata worries that the moment Komaeda finds out he has a "worthless talent" he'll stop caring about him.

Yet in main gameplay after finding out how Hinata doesn't have talent but also IS Ultimate Despair Komaeda admits he can't stop caring about Hinata. Even after learning everything.

And in alternate universe where they spend time with the knowledge of Hinata being talentless, he actively seeks out Hinata.

Does become friends with him.

And does care about him afterwards!

You cannot convince me that Komaeda would not care about Hinata just because he's talentless or worse hate him. #EndBullyKomaedaNagitoCharacterization
