crlylanism:
“I mean we both know this world is full of magic.”
“do we? because you’re not sounding much like a believer right now.”
crlylanism:
Carly shrugged. “Seems like a very normal wednesday to me. I don’t see anything special about it.”
“you poor child, it must be terrible living in a world with no magic or joy or awesomeness,” he sighed. “but don’t worry, i’m sure it gets getter.”
vshe:
“Well, for starters, if I’d ever have one, it would definitely include some nice, studded leather jacket and a biker helmet – wearing all black, because… duh,” she said, casually. Even if it was all play-pretend, she’d still prefer to have everything prepared. “— alright, maybe not a helmet, maybe a some kind of hockey mask? Jason Voorhees-style?” As long as no one saw her face, it was good enough, right? She had no idea how this entire thing worked, so she had to keep relying on all the movies she’s seen just about far too many times. “I found my old car that I sold few years ago and kind of… decided to get it again, and fix it,” she answered. “A beaten up pick-up truck, basically nothing worked – safe to say, it DOES work now. Took me long enough.” As she continued, a hint of a smile made an appearance upon her thin lips; talking about something she loved doing apparently had that effect on her. Not that strange, right? “— wanna see?”
“i’m liking, i’m liking,” he nodded. his attention focused on the older woman, only interfering to voice his opinions on her choice of outfit. “yeah, i think a mask would be better.” he himself had never stopped to think about it, but maybe he should start. though, his strategy would be closer to inside man style. then again, in what world would he ever need to rob anything? but it was at the mention of the car that his attention truly peaked, and it was clear to the boy that so did ashe’s. he knew the feeling of finally getting something just right after hours working on it. “yes! what kind of question is that? let me get us some coffee and you can show me this beauty.”
itselizarogers:
Eliza snorted softly. “Happy birthday, weirdo,” she said, her words not without affection. “What presents could people possibly get you that you don’t already have? Or that you couldn’t buy yourself? I’m pretty sure a member of the Stark family makes more money by breathing than most people do in, like, twenty years.”
a grateful smile appeared at the words, “thank you!” the question prompted a shrug from the teen, he figured that was the sort of question everyone thought -- what to give someone who had everything. kind of how he felt about his father. “there are a lot of things i can’t buy, and technically i don’t make all that money yet.”
faeriezone:
“You better. You never know when I’ll just randomly show up, ready to sip on vodka and bask in your never-ending glory,” she mused, making a mental note to bring up the shot glass idea sometime in the future. “I still don’t believe it’s right considering I’m neither bland or simple. Unless, of course, you have something you want to tell me,” she replied, an eyebrow cocked at him. "I guess we have to figure out which one of us is the better friend.”
“not to worry, i’m a stark and we’re always prepared.” now he’d really have to work on that glass. “actually,” he started, but broke into a wider grim. he had yet to meet anyone that would use any of those words to describe the girl; it didn’t matter if they knew her well enough or not. “what i want to tell you is that someone needs to keep that ego of yours in check. that’s what people keep saying about me, so it must be true to you too,” he joked. “no offense, but i’m going to vote myself for that one.”
mikaelparker:
The Parker looked at Max when he raised his finger up, listening to him and nodding multiple times when he started speaking. “Ice cream everyday? How am I supposed to say no to that?” He smiled, nodding again. “Your plan is the best, we go with that.” He said really honestly, crossing his arms slowly. “And I now promote you as best person in the world, congratulations.”
“that’s the thing, isn’t it? you’re not supposed to say no,” he replied with a smirk pulling at his lips. “that’s all i wanted to hear. it’s all i want to hear every day, but some people just can’t see the greatness in my plans. and they’re always as awesome as this one.” maybe not all of them, but he’d still stick to them. “thanks, man. does it come with a prize too? i feel like it should.”
[text] Happy Birthday Maximus from a person who's been around for most of them xx ~ Eden
Max: thanks, e!!!Max: when am i getting my present?
mikaelparker:
Sitting down, and looking up at the person in front of him, Mike stood up almost immediately, without any warning. “I want to go to the beach and eat chocolate ice cream. You come with me? I’ll pay you an ice cream. Or two. Or three, just don’t leave me alone. Please?”
“i will do you one better,” he replied, index finger up to indicate an idea coming. “how about a week in the hamptons? chocolate ice cream every day and the relaxation only a beach can bring to our spirits.” he had been meaning to go there since the summer had begun, but ended up too busy for any of that. he really wish summer was longer. “you’re paying for the ice cream, though.”
it wasn’t rare that max would be sporting a smile, but today the teen was radiating verve. he had always loved birthdays, and the same enthusiasm he had about the day when he was a little boy had remained with him this long. "is it just me or does today feel a lot better than your usual wednesday?” he mused, a cheeky glint in his eyes. “it must be because today is the most important day of the year. let’s try not to ruin it, people! gifts are always welcome too, of course.”
faeriezone:
“Not many people do,” she shrugged. Granted, the only reason why she knew anything about the religion was because of her time spent in India. “Yeah, that’s true.” While she was no expert on the various religions of the world, each one had some semblance of truth in their own right. The Thorson’s and her mom were proof of that. “You caught me,” she replied, raising her hands in mock surrender. “Just manageable? I’m offended you didn’t dip into that lexicon of yours and choose something less bland.” It was a teasing joke more geared towards Max and his vast intelligence. “I guess so. Although I can’t say I’m surprised.”
max wasn’t a religious person, his only interest in those was based on the same curiosity that made the teen want to explore anything and everything. it was the knowledge and not the faith that moved it. “i knew it. don’t worry, i always have a shot glass with your name on it.” not literally, but maybe he could work on that. “i could have done just that, but sometimes the perfect word is the blandest and simplest one,” he shrugged. “any ideas on how we can solve this one?”
edenlang:
“Max you sound like my Grandpa,” Eden replied dismissively. She couldn’t count the number of times her grandfather had tried to press the importance of the technology they had been gifted onto her, but in the end even he hadn't been able to change her mind. A piece of fabric couldn’t make you who you are. Eden wasn’t smart, she wasn’t even very good in her suit, and she simply didn’t have a tendency to care. “My coffee addiction isn’t that bad, and besides isn’t that what elevators were invented for?” she replies with a smirk, made all too happy with the sight of the other’s smile. “I know,” she replied with an air of confidence that was so often lacking, but then that wasn’t really surprising, for a long time she knew Max better than anyone else in the entire world. “I do remember what happened on my twelfth birthday y'know,” she teased with a giggle.
“i’ll take that, your grandpa is a really smart guy,” he shrugged. hank pym was one of the brightest minds of their time, and max would gladly be put in the same category. he knew that was what people expected from him too, and with all the confidence that the boy naturally emanated he couldn’t shake the fear that he would never make good to all the potential people saw in him. chocolate brown orbs rolled, but the grin remained unfaltering. “you’re just completely erasing the cool factor, though. and everyone knows that’s the most important part of anything. besides, you could use them to get me coffee then.” the last comment came with a mischievousness that reached his eyes. “twelfth birthday? i have no idea what you’re talking about.” but the lie was obvious in his tone. there was so much history between the two, so many moments shared and that would remain in his memory no matter where life took them. “but if i did remember it, i’d say my mom is to blame for teaching me that lying was bad.”
lyraquill:
“That’s true,” she nodded. “Though they are counting on me to be responsible,” she then turned to the other. “You think so? I just remember how good letting go with my powers felt when I was your age,” Not that Max knew how that felt.
“i applaud you for trying. i don’t think i have it in me to be a teacher here,” he admitted. he was a smart guy, maybe too smart for his own good, but tutoring had never been a strong suit, especially when kids didn’t seem to follow his fast reasoning. “yeah, for sure. i’ve got no powers, but i’d dig that sort of stuff. -- i feel that’s all i’d want to do if i had powers,” he chuckled.
vshe:
“If I wanted to rob this place, I think I would’ve worn something a little bit more… extravagant, really,” she quipped. This was definitely not the first time she had managed to get inside the shop with some tool that could be deemed dangerous; one would’ve thought that all the places around the school would be used to it by now. “— some people leave their houses without phones – I leave my garage with a god-damn wrench,” Ashe commented, chuckling ever so silently. “I am almost certain, that Joey over there, won’t mind it. Not in the slightest.”
“now i wanna see your robber outfit. please, tell me you have one picked out just in case. are we talking masks? you gonna need one to get away with it if you’re going for extravagant,” he rambled, lips curved in a playful smirk. he could relate to the girl’s ordeal, he knew how easy it was to just get lost when you were working on something. “what were you working on?” his curiosity was clear; ashe was one of the few he considered an equal when it came to anything mechanical related. he turned, eyes searching the person. “i don’t think he will mind anything you do.”
What's the craziest thing you've ever done?
“this one time a friend of mine, josh – great guy, a little bit crazy though –, drove by this huge construction site that seemed more of less abandoned, and there were these three cranes. there’s also a chance we had watched casino royale only a couple of days before that. so, josh being the great yet crazy dude that he is thought it would be funny to dare me to climb up there and walk across a crane between these two buildings. it was pretty awesome, actually, but one of the things it’s best my mom doesn’t hear about. i’m just glad i didn’t end up with tetanus, though. those things were rusty as fuck.”
