Will work end
If robots do most work and chores, and if we have proper wealth distribution to keep the consumer side spending going, then what will people do. I see the automation creeping into the work space to minimize spending on human capital which keeps the door closed d to new hires. Something to think about.
Data Jamming
As firms get better at identifying individuals from their digital foot print, maybe it's time for individual to create alias accounts and use VPNs to cover their digital tracks. Also, use ad blockers, select do not track and have your browser delete private data upon exit. Further, only provide the necessary permissions to your apps and os.
Sabiticals
I think there should be mandatory Sabiticals for all workers. A chance to learn and do something different by exploring new ideas and concepts. This is important to creative knowledge workers. Creativity can not be taught nor the experience of something out of your comfort zone. Creativity needs to be nurtured outside the typical office.
Mid life crisis
Do men have the Hollywood mid life crisis or is this narrative used to sell content? The fake blond,with fake breasts and an over priced car. Almost seems like a old wife's tail. Or do men just get sick of the bs and realize that a drastic change is required but Hollywood translates this into American Beauty. So sad that this awareness is only allowed in the Hollywood narrative for women.
Is privacy dead?
Privacy is not a concept for only those who can afford to keep there data private. Just because you agree to barter your personally identifiable information with a social media network, for example, does not mean this barter should Favor the network.
If people did not place a value on their privacy, then why do they place select information and pictures behind passwords?
Those businesses who need consumers to barter their Privacy for a service, have a desire to repeat this message, that privacy is dead.
These businesses hoping it will stick and consumers will comply, and freely handover their personally identifiable information.

Facebook and Twitter have quantified your social status, turning social interaction into a game that can be measured, and “won”. As with any well-structured game, competition, engagement, and stress ensue. There will always be losers. Snapchat is not a competition. It’s an outlet from the competitive nature of modern content sharing. You choose a select group of people to see your low-fi picture, and you don’t feel pressured to create a masterpiece. Everyone is a winner. Everyone can have fun.

Faking a Pregnancy Test is Inadvisable; Courts Agree
According to multiple reports, positive pregnancy tests are available for purchase on Craigslist. Why would someone sell such a thing, and why would anyone purchase it? The answer to both questions, according to legal experts, may not only be immoral and unethical, but criminal. Outside the world of soap operas, faking pregnancy can be a crime.
Just before Labor Day, Courtney and Irvin Murrell were sentenced to jail time for pretending that Courtney miscarried twins. The Murrells bilked various friends, acquaintances and employers out of money for funeral expenses and other miscellaneous costs associated with the fabricated pregnancy and miscarriage. One of the victims was the mother of one of Courtney’s former boyfriends, whom she named as the father of the nonexistent children.
According to criminal defense attorney Pamela Mackey, best known for representing basketball player Kobe Bryant in a high-profile rape case, women who mislead men in their lives for financial gain in the way the Murrells did could face similar legal ramifications. She said such behavior constitutes “theft by deception. If you deceive someone into giving you money, that’s a crime.”

Facebook: My Pet Peeve
One of my biggest pet peeve is with companies advertisements, campaigns and contests that only have the option to view, participate or enter is through Facebook.
As I do not have a Facebook account and most likely never will, then the efforts of these companies to reach me is useless. OR maybe I am getting to old for all of these new fangled technologies that often resemble groups of the bulletin boards of years ago through AOL or Compuserve.
I must buy a cane and slippers, Grandpa time cannot be that far away!
Smart Cars: Why not take Public Transit Instead
There seems to be such an euphoria for the self-propelled driverless car where the driver can take leisure time instead of struggling through traffic. If I am not mistaken, a user can take leisure time in public transit if it is well funded and actually serves the residents.
Too bad there is unlimited money to maximize the utility of private transit but in most major cities, public transit is never really provided with the equivalent money, resources and the will to make it happen.
Will the Internet of Things be helpful
The Future Speaker Serious at the Canadian National Exposition has got me thinking about social media and geo locations and how important they are becoming in our lives and how this data will be mashed.
One of the topics that caught my interest was personal assistant robots but what if robots where akin to smartphones for those of us that need extra help in our daily lives.
In reality most of use may need more of as digital assistant than a robot that follows us around for example:
1. Remember lists that are made from smart appliances that can read RFID chips embedded into the product packaging
2. The smart phone digital assistant could read these RFID chips for other products like cleaning products etc. and these could be added to the list
3. This device could search for sales in the users area or based on store preference and determine the optimal path to store based on walking, driving and public transit.
4. Further to this, the device can access the smart city grid to determine the danger points for intersections for example and upon arriving at the store this device can map the location of the products and the safety record of these products from the Internet of Things.
Imagine how this can help us even be more independent for longer. The future has hope if we design it, to have it.
Blackberry Users: Non Conformists
Will the users of BlackBerry be the new non conformists of the technology world? This title was held by Apple for years but now this crown needs to be deemed to a new company.
Apple is no longer cool or cutting edge and has become the established company that is a conformists cult to the max. For example, the use of "I" just like a cult leader and with the "flag of white" always being used in an ominous presence.
Cool is about being unique and different and Going against the established norm as a former of rebellion. BlackBerry offers this as:
# It is no longer cool
# It's user interface is actually visually appealing and goes against the grains of Apples
# It offers user the ability to speak with different words that are imaginative as the conformists Apple users will not know the language
# It can publish a shirt with the phrase, "Been a user since it stopped being cool to own a BB"
Non conformists like my self, dropping the conformists iPhone and hopefully this will benefit BlackBerry, a dedicated user base.
The US Energy Picture: A Backgrounder
American energy comes from an array of different resources — the fossil fuels of oil, gas and coal, as well as nuclear and renewables. We can compare these energy sources and measure our total consumption, even though energy end-uses are diverse and dissimilar.
At the moment, fossil fuels make up the lion’s share of our energy consumption, but it hasn’t always been that way. Wood and water fueled America up until the end of the 19th century, when coal took off as the latest and greatest energy source. Since then, carbon-intensive coal has been supplanted by oil and gas and coal’s importance is on the wane in this country; the vast majority of coal-fired power plants are over thirty years old.
Over time, the energy picture has only become more complex and chaotic, with fossil fuels of all kinds now battling it out with renewables and nuclear to fuel America.
