humans again
working hard
proud of her work!
More hum! versions, this time full-length!!
I've actually had some thoughts about this AU:
– It all takes place in 1901 in Germany (the year was chosen almost at random)
– Maya is 10 years old, Willy is 12, Flip is 35
– Flip is constantly changing jobs and residences, and he's most likely traveled a lot, precisely because of his varied work. He doesn't have a formal education, but due to his rather busy life, he has a broad outlook and knows a lot.
– It's really hard to come up with anything about Maya and Willy, to be honest... They're like some kind of street kids, I guess?? I need to think about it...
I love it! Seeing them in full length is so cool! I really like their outfits and how they're all unique, even regarding their shoes. And at the same time I like it the similarities between Maya's and Willy's outfits with the brown/yellow colours, because it perfectly translates their bee designs into a human form!
Maya's dress is so cute, and i love her pose, it looks so friendly, playful and happy! I also like it how Willy is putting his hands into his pockets, and how his trousers have a patch on them. And Flip looks so elegant, because of the way he's standing and because of his long, beautiful green suit.
Regarding your thoughts:
-Their ages fit really well! I like it that you kept the fact from the anime that Willy is two years older than Maya. And Flip being 35 makes perfect sense, since 35 isn't old yet, but people at age 35 might start to feel like they're getting old... and in the anime Flip is sometimes complaining that he isn't young anymore XD
-I love how you said it that Flip "has a broad outlook and knows a lot"! And yeah, this kind of lifestyle of changing jobs and travelling a lot really fits Flip.
-Maya and Willy as street kids kinda makes sense... when you first posted the human forms, I was only thinking about how Flip would live freely as a human, but now I realize that Maya and Willy would actually live pretty freely as humans as well XD Them being street kids could be a good reason as for why, despite being human kids, they are living without adult supervision and having adventures!

If you need some sweet and comforting music, here is my playlist "You're safe and sound":
https://music.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLRH7-lToSqf-Zya8_FlNQStSVqOiB47Ie&si=-wrpmg3MWDBYLYGA
I couldn't share it any other way, but it's a compilation of various relaxing and beautiful soundtracks composed by Karel Swoboda for the German-Japanese anime coproductions "The Wonderful Adventures of Nils" (1980), "Vicky the Viking" (1974), "Maya the Bee" (1975) and "Pinocchio" (1976).
I made this playlist sometime last year and I even designed a possible playlist design for YouTube (maybe one day, I will "own" these songs somehow and make it) but this is the picture I used:
This is "The Little Mole (Krtek)", aka a small mole with the CUTEST voice... (I used to watch his little adventures as a child 🌻)
It's time for some scenery pictures again!
This is the first view Maya ever gets of the meadow where she'll live on after leaving the beehive.
She gets to see this view while she's taking a peek out of the hive... Unfortunataly for her, while she's looking outside, a storm is currently wreaking havoc on the meadow, so she's only seeing these grey clouds and flowers with dull colours, instead of witnessing how bright and colourful the meadow usually is.
Thankfully though, the weather soon clears up:
And now Maya can see how colourful and bright the meadow can be! Now she gets to see the blue sky with the soft white clouds, towards which the flowers with their fresh green leaves and stems are raising their warm white or pink petals.
Her first impression of the meadow might not have been very good... but this is definitely a great second impression!
I love them! Maya and willy
Maya y Willy
Cute bees! 🐝
Maya the bee and her friends!
- maya is the leader of the groups she takes her friends of her journey!
- willy the guardian, he protects Maya whatever she goes, willy will always help Maya of her journey! 🐝
- sting bug the robotic fighter, he makes robots to fight the bad guys!🐝
- violet the witch! She doesn't like joining Maya's group but Maya wants to join her groups with violet, so she joins in!
This was created by me!😻 It's an au
The story is about four lil bugs going on a journey to adventure a lot of new kinds of things that they have never been!
That's a great and exciting au!
I like how in your drawings of these four, each of them has an unique outfit and expression. Maya looks so happy leading her friends into the adventures, while wearing that cute and pretty outfit.
Meanwhile Willy looks kind of scared, especially when he's clutching to his sword in the first picture... which is also really adorable, and I was glad to read that still, he acts as a guardian who protects Maya! I like his design, especially his little scarf and his boots.
Sting also has a great scarf, and I like the design of his trousers with the hammer on it! And these goggles he has in the first picture are really cool, and it's also cool that he makes robots! I like his excited, but also kind of laid-back smile in the third picture.
Violet's witch hat and her cloak with the stars are so pretty! And I like the broom she's holding. Her annoyed face in the last picture is really cute and funny. I'm glad she still joined Maya's group!
Looks like some magical adventures are awaiting these four!
Humanizations of Maya, Willy, and Flip 👀
The idea is that in human form, they still live in Germany around the late 19th or early 20th century, but no longer in the insect world, but in the human world. I'd like to add something historical here, but I don't have any specific ideas yet, hahaha
Oh, they look really cool!
I like how you turned each character in human form and how you kept or adapted some of their characteristics. Like Maya's hair, her nose and her round head. And even her freckles in her human form are reminiscent of these lines on her face in her bee form! And I just love these small round eyebrows and that excited smile you drew her with.
And I like how you included Willy's eyes, his nose and the oval shape of his head. I also really like his little smile and the way you turned his hair into a full hairstyle!
Flip's human design also look really cool! I like it that you gave him a green outfit - since green is such a characteristic colour for him! And once again, I like the similarity of his head and nose shape to that of his insect form.
Also, the designs of all of their outfits look really nice!
In general, it's really interesting to imagine them as humans! I wonder what kind of adventures they're gonna have in the human world...
Maya's new hat! (now she's matching with Willy)
Another out-of-context comic panel! (I got this screenshot ages ago from having put the comic through a translator, which is why the text is like that). This one can be interpreted as kinda sad but also there's the unexpectedness that makes it slightly comical
Had no clue what to draw today, and spent a lot of effort on fanarts I changed my mind on last-minute, then remembered I wanted an opportunity to mention Shnuck from episode 3! Another underrated character like Flower Elf. Her episode was also pretty eventful and surprising, it's admirable that Maya was not permanently terrified of humans afterwards. Anyways, how and why was this dragonfly given such stylish vibes, it's literally a bug!
True - Schnuck is so underrated! I liked it that despite being a predator animal that hunts other insects, she was portrayed in a sympathetic light (unlike other predator insects that appear later in the show who are portrayed as more evil) and that Maya did end up befriending her after not liking her at first. And since Shnuck is one of the first insects Maya befriends on the meadow, she probably had quite an influence on Maya and how Maya views the world.
And Shnuck really is so stylish! Dragonflies do look quite elegant and beautiful after all... I loved how fascinated Maya was with Shnuck's pretty wings in the episode.
It also surprises me that Maya was able to be so open-minded and curious about humans despite her first experience with them being so negative in Shnuck's episode!
Maya the bee 🐝
Alexander and Willy screen ✨
Random doodle I made yesterday. She sees her reflection and it's still a real bee
Right here we are presented with a glorious critter... the episode about him implied that there's secretly more of these guys around the place, and Maya just doesn't encounter them. Interesting to think about
Oh yes, the flower elf! He has such a simple, yet cute design. I love his silly smile and how confidently he crosses his arms in that particular picture!
And true, it's pretty interesting that there must be more flower elves other than the one from that one episode, it's just that neither Maya nor us viewers ever get to see them. Such mysterious characters!
So mysterious, in fact, that the whole flower elf episode felt special! It was so much more magical than the other episodes. And it's surprising that we could also see quite a lot of humans in that episode, instead of just insects!
Was looking at some of those comics that were made about Maya's anime the other day and thought this shot of Willy was hilarious without the context
