“Yeah, you might want to stay in your lane and away from drugs…and possibly cigarettes too.” Vanessa replied. It was kind of cute how innocent Maya seemed. It was something that definitely attracted Vanessa to her, especially since she was often a rebel herself. Vanessa often tried to stay away from people who were considered “good” since she knew how bad she was. Arching an eyebrow when she stated that she lived here, it didn’t surprise Vanessa much at all that she didn’t know who Maya was. She probably often just ignored her around school. “Oh, you have to come visit someday. It’s such a beautiful city. It’s always so lit up. The people never sleep. They’ve got the most amazing food and during Christmas time it’s always so pretty with the different decorations and the huge Christmas tree at the Rockerfeller Center. It’s nice. So many different cultures. I love it.” Chuckling softly at the mention of the pot brownies, Vanessa shrugged. “Damn. This scene is just not for me anymore.” She mumbled, mostly to herself. “I came here with my best friend, yeah. But she ran off with some guy, so I don’t really know where she is.” She stated. “Hey, if you’re wanting food we can get out of here and go to like a truck stop or something. I’m craving a really nice burger right about now and this party isn’t really hitting on anything much.” Vanessa suggested, hoping Maya would accept her invite.
“Careful, I might take you up on that one day.” the younger girl quipped while looking at Vanessa as a bright smile graced her features. Maya always had dreamed of breaking free, of exploring the world and becoming someone she could be proud of rather than her parents. But it was just that ––a dream–– and Maya didn’t know if she would ever get to live it, something she knew was in her hands but humans were creatures of habit and she simply couldn’t shake her fears while a little pesky voice in her head kept telling her that she’d never make it out there on her own. At her suggestion Maya lifted her gaze to the brunette, coming to realize that she had never even been to a truck stop … which she didn’t feel comfortable sharing, considering that the fact was actually ridiculous and embarrassing. It just wasn’t a place her family or friends would go to and even if it wasn’t anything special, Maya was intrigued. More so because of the prospect of potentially doing something her parents would frown upon. Not just because of the truck stop itself but for the fact that she’d roam the streets at night with a complete stranger. Besides a burger sounded really nice. “Count me in. But only if they got fries and milkshakes too.” the girl returned before setting her cup on the kitchen counter. Maya was good to go.
