“You bet,” Bonnie agreed, smiling wider as she hugged one of her oldest friends. She still felt so small in comparison to Matt, but as always, he was a comforting presence. “I know. I should have spent more time with you when I was back in town, but I didn’t. But I’ll be here for quite a while now trying to save everyone yet again,” she joked, rolling her eyes. “I’ve been fabulous. Seeing the world, experiencing everything with very few threats to my life. It’s been amazing. How about you?”

“I’m glad you got to live a semi normal life, Bon. You deserve it, more than any of us.” He told her truthfully. “Bonnie Bennett to the rescue.”

“Did we walk into some parallel dimension?” Katherine looked around. “You’re telling me to have fun?” She raised a brow. “This is new.” 

Matt chuckled softly. “I’m trying this new thing called letting loose. Apparently it helps with stress.” He informed her.

“I can’t believe everyone threw this party just for me,” Bonnie stated sarcastically, taking off her sunglasses. “Well, I guess since I sort of surprised people with my arrival, I’ll live with the party not being all about me,” she added with a smile. “I suppose I’ll deal with enjoying the party and drinks.”

“And the guest of honor has arrived.” Matt smiled and wrapped bonnie in a hug. “Long time no see, Bon. How have you been?”

“Right…. because events in Mystic Falls always go sooo well.” Katherine was only showing up in hopes of spending more time with Nikolai and learning more information that could be helpful in defeating the Necromancer. “I’ll take that, thanks.” She grabbed a drink from a passing youngster and brought it to her lips to sip.

“Come on, have some fun.” Matt himself was in the lookout for any danger, considering how the last event ended, but he was trying.

“I need to see her.” Katherine told him. “There is so much I have to talk to her about.” The first on that list being Nikolai. “Is she there now?” 

“She was there when I left.” Matt nodded. “Just let me give her a head sip first, huh?” Matt understood Katherine wanting to see her daughter, but Matt suddenly worried about Nadia being okay with it.

While there was so much uncertainty in everything, this was something that was familiar to the vampire, and it was something she craved above all else. Nadia never bowed for anyone, but for once in her life she relented, and let Matt lead the charge as she rested on the counter. “Did you miss me?”  

“Mmm, I must have.” Matt smirked at her. When the dead started popping back up he never thought he would be sneaking around in the grill with Nadia like he was a teenager again. But something about her and the moment made this all seem right. “Do you need a place to stay?”

Henrik rolled his eyes…“yeah yeah thats what there called now huh.? Henrik mikaelson I’m the baby of the family.”

“I didn’t realize you had come back.” Matt was under the impression that Henrik has died when they were younger, before they were vampires.

“Yeah…the ones I know are in town are Niklaus, Kol and Rebekah”

Matt gave him a look of surprise. “The originals are your siblings?”

Matt laughed slightly. “Not something the mayor really wants to hear, but you’re not exactly wrong.”

“She’s staying with you?” Katherine raised an eyebrow. “Wait.. are you and my daughter like.. a thing?” She questioned. This was a lot of brand new information at once. “How long has she been here?” 

“Uh, she just came back.” Matt didn’t know how to answer her first question. He didn’t think ‘not exactly a thing just made out in the mystic grill bathroom’ was an acceptable answer. “She didn’t have anywhere else to stay.”

“I know.” Matt nodded. “Don’t think I haven’t been keeping tabs on you.” He told the woman. “I wanted to let you know, before you saw her, Nadia is back.”

“Of course you have.” That didn’t surprise Katherine in the least. The next thing he said, however, shocked her. “What? Nadia is back? My Nadia?” She asked, her eyes widening. “Where is she? Is she okay?”

Matt nodded. “She’s staying with me.” He put his hands in his pockets. “If you want to see her, you can go there to have some privacy, but I want to let her know first.”

“They’re kids. They need a place like the school to learn control.”
