Well … it would explain why BOTH Gajeel and Natsu’s ages were never revealed and why they couldn’t pass through the barrier.  We’ve been assuming it’s because they held their dragons in them, but Mashima gave us Wendy’s age … so maybe Gajeel is Acnologia’s son/brother??
