Life begins at the end of your comfort zone.

Introduction to PHP and JavaScript things are getting slightly more interesting!! after finally laying down the basics and building up websites from the bare bones, i can now finally say i feel comfortable in the web.

As i am coming half way through my second semester things are starting to get a little more tense as i feel i'm slipping out of my comfort zone but this can't be a bad thing right ?

As of last week i have starting to plan tasks in to building replica websites of other designers, this allows me to design and build to my full potential and learn new tricks.

a friend once said to me "the best way to learn is to set yourself a project and do it" and that's exactly what i'm doing :)

Group Project...........One gear........GO!!

So we finally get our group project brief to develop a website front end and back end.

the scenario is based on a music company called "Cragg Music" who basically need a website developing, The groups are all split down into teams of 3 / 4 including Design, Developer and also a engineer. As it is i have the designer role which i'm so stoked about but something tells me this ain't going to be an easy ride.

As a design i have to take into account all accessibility, target audience and develop the CSS and HTML, hopefully i wont change this design as much as i did with my own website.

Website Launch!!

So the start of a new chapter happened Wednesday  5th of February, i have finally made my website go live and i'm currently in the works of developing my site for my portfolio.

Having so many idea flooding into my little brain lately i really can't stick with a design. i should really start developing some wire frames and maybe getting some input off my uni friends to see if i can further develop my website.

Semester Two.......Go

So semester two has started and everyone seems to be in good spirits to be back at university. Finally started putting a bit of a plan together and started learning some Java script since everything i hear sounds like "oh that includes script" or "oh thats java Script lulz" at the same time though im hitting some brick walls with my designs as i keep scraping them. maybe i need to expand and develop my self a bit more and take a step back from the big picture, or just stop looking at the big picture altogether, on the plus side i feel a lot more confident in what im doing and keeping on top of the work load, work less play more.

Semester One Complete

Wow so semester one is finally complete and i'm halfway through my first year at Staffordshire university, i can't believe how fast this semester has gone.

So all in all I've come along way looking back from when i first started taking interest into the web but i have a lot more to learn and many many more hurdles to overcome. So far I've gained a massive knowledge into the C# programming Language Brushed up on my HTML / CSS Skills and made some awesome friends. Taking into account that the web is always changing i need to keep up to date on the knowledge and all of the changes that have yet to come, as i have another week off before i start semester two i thought it would be a great opportunity to start learning some Java Script to help me build some awesome websites.

So too sum it all up its been an awesome year and i really should start updating my tumblr a lot more, maybe that could be my new years resolution ?

Web concepts begins.

So i finally start web concepts and i am beginning to develop my skills as a web designer!! developing my own website is proving to be some kind of a long and repetitive process as i really can't decide what model i should go for.

focusing on one page layouts its opening new doors and bringing some creative inspiration into my design. once i have my website sort of ready i think ill upload a sneaky picture on here :) the above image is a really nice tool from adobe called "adobe kuler" pretty much  just a color picker. enjoy.

The start to my C# Journey 

So now I've been at Staffordshire university for at least a month now and I feel like I’m starting to build the foundations of a web and multimedia student.

Recently I've been building programs in C# to solve problems. From the basics of the “hello world” program to the more advanced code such as looping, deterministic and non-deterministic. programming is definitely not for the faint hearted but I also feel its a skill that is learnt through doing and not reading.

a recent program I have written was to prompt the user to input 10 integers, negative or positive such as 5+ or -5. When all 10 integers have been input the program will then enter a loop and calculate the total number of positive and negative integers and finally output the result using the console WriteLine.

The future of web can be amazing if we make it.

so recently i attended one of my first "guest speaker" lessons at Staffordshire university last Friday, for those that don't know what a guest speaker is its basically someone who tells you and grants you knowledge on a particular subject.

the subject that was being talked about was the future of web, web in my opinion is something that will always be around something we can use forever to gain knowledge from or even stay connected to our loved ones, but i guess its not always that simple.

we spoke about something more serious more along the lines of native apps and the way native apps are damaging the web and its future, apps are being used more and more everyday by all different types of people because they are fast, fluent and easy.

we spoke about a lot of native apps and what should be done for the future web, should the web consist of being a pre installed icon like an app so its much faster and fluent instead of gaining and downloading all of the data from the server ? or is it still too early for us to decide where the web should go ? should we make it a complete open source and disband the W3C or is this a dangerous dream that we all have?

So many doors have been opened up just from the guest speaker on friday (bruce lawson) and it has made me realize that this could become quite a dangerous thing if we don't do something about the future of the web.

Liquid CPU coolers.

A question I've always asked my self from time to time is it really worth getting a all in one liquid CPU cooler or would you prefer to keep it nice and simple with top end air cooling for your CPU ?

The only way you can judge and ask yourself this question is if you have experienced the potential of both. personally my self i love the all in one liquid cooling idea, massive cooling potential for high end games or even rendering movies. The price on the liquid cooling is pretty much the same for a high end air cooler but is it worth it ? well i've been browsing and looking at some comparisons and i must say air cooling sometimes does come out on top but that would be against low end liquid cooling units.

My h100i vs Eisberg.

Recently i have upgraded my corsair h100i cpu cooler for the Eisberg 240L liquid cooler, most people would ask the question why ? well i have a simple answer and that answer is "why not ?" the eisberg 240l is fully customizable also it has its own reservior and pump and you can pretty much change anything you desire.

I didn't really notice a difference in temperatures at first compared to the h100i if anything the eisberg was running hotter at a idle temperature, but after running some tests and high end games i did notice the eiberg was alot cooler than the h100i at full cpu load, all in all i think i have invested in something that has a massive cooling potential and having the option to customize the eisberg will let me fit in a water loop of my own but by the time i start this i think my passion for building computers will have evolved and i will of  moved onto something bigger and better.

Something small can be incredible.

A side project i have finally fished "something small can be incredible" it has really shocked me on how much power these ITX motherboards have by having limited space within the case. I am so stoked on what i have achieved, At first i didn't have much hope of fitting a liquid cooler in this case (H100i) until i striped the entire case and re-ramped some of the hard drive bays but i didn't expect too take the CD drive out as well.

the main goal behind this build was too create something that can be transported and easily maneuverable, but also a rig that is future proof for gaming.

Corsair 600T Insomnia build.

Recently finished the insomnia festival this year with high hopes of kicking some ass in the league of legends tournament! considering me and the team didn't get alot of practice we didn't do too bad on terms of playing at the opposing teams level, but winning was something else.

This is the lan case i used for the event and i am now back into my original case...........the NZXT switch.
