About Otome Game heroines
Okay, Iâve been an otome game player for more than six years and as many people know otome games are one of my favorite game genre. Iâll play anything as long I have the money and if I am interested in the plot and the characters. This said, I never thought much of the heroines in otome games.

I personally do not understand the hate the heroine in these games get. The heroines get critized for often being bland, clumsy, stupid and naive. Having read these opinions so many times I found myself asking: What is wrong with being clumsy? What is wrong with being naive? Is naivety a sign for lack of intelligence? I wonder what is wrong with being a little clumsy.Â
Another word caught my eye as well and that it âweakâ. How do people define weakness and what makes otome game heroines weak? I wonder how people define this. Many otoge have very unrealistic plots and the heroines face a lot of very strange situations that we as the player do not experience in real life, so I wonder how the âweakâ comments come from.Â
There are a lot of women who are very clumsy and naive. Are they bad examples of women if they are this way? Are clumsy and naive women naive? Does are woman have to fit into the picture of the out-spoken, extroverted and confident woman? Isnât there otoge heroine who stand up for themselves? Are clumsiness, naivety and shyness a sign for the lack of independence? Isnât it possible to be naive, shy and clumsy and be strong and independent?Â
I really wonder why otoge heroines are hated?
