❝come, take my arms and go i’ll be yours for sure❞
So I’ve been busy all day and this is like and hour late but idc, its’s Blackpink’s 3rd year anniversary and even if I’m late I still need to say something even if no one reads it.
I found out about Blackpink through a friend who was into kpop. I didn’t even like kpop back then, but I knew most of my friends really liked BTS so because I was lonely and had social anxiety issues I’d pretend to like whatever they liked so we’d have something in common. Blackpink had just recently debuted and I kept hearing my friends talk about them until one of them finally decided to play a Blackpink song for me.
Blackpink’s Whistle was the very first kpop song I heard that truly intrigued me. The language sounded weird and the song was just very different in general but something about the girls’ voices and the melody drew me in.
Cut to the future. It is DDU DU DDU DU era and though I’ve already heard all their songs I never gave Blackpink a chance because:
1. I was a typical boy group only stan who would just say I stan at least one girl group, Mamamoo, to cover up my jealous ass (I wasn’t nearly as gay back then).
2. Everybody had so many negative things to say about Blackpink, especially about Jennie’s laziness and the whole ot1 ot3 drama.
Then one day, on Rosé’s birthday specifically, I find a little video on Blackpink’s channel called ROSÉ - EYES CLOSED (Halsey) COVER. I didn’t know it was Rosé’s birthday, nor did I know she made the cover as a birthday gift to Blinks. I just clicked on the video and OH MA FUCHKNG GOD I STARTED CRYING AND I FELL IN LOVE💝💝💝💖💖💖😤😤💖😤😤💖💖💝💝💝💝😤😤😤😤💖💖💖💖💖💖💝💝
Suddenly, I was getting a glimpse of a blink’s perspective of the fanwars, of other side of the hate train. I discovered that many reasons why Blackpink was so hated were because antis and blonks never actually acknowledged the girls as human beings with flaws and insecurities. Their expectations for a girl group were already high enough, and with the way people always think there can’t be two big girl groups Bp was always getting pit against Twice (who are their friends btw) and because of how quickly they blew up, the girls were automatically assumed to be famous for their looks and not their talent. When Blackpink was still a rookie group, they got SO much attention for Lisa’s computer-like dancing, Rosé unique voice, Jennie’s duality, and Jisoo’s stunning visuals. But when they started reaching the level of the boy groups, all of a sudden they aren’t actually that good and they are all overrated?
I’ve started realizing just how much Blackpink suffers from internalized misogyny. Their biggest enemies aren’t like the gamer boys that hate kpop. They’re kpop fangirls that need a reason to hate on the newest big girls for being too beautiful, too talented, and too fucking close to their oppas.
Why does this have to happen? Why, when girls deal with enough shit already, do we have to make life even harder for one another? And why did I previously think it was ok to be a part of this? When I started asking these questions, it was when I started realizing that I would need to be stronger and start loving myself if I wanted to break this cycle of hate. Not just for Blackpink, but for myself and the people around me in life.
My confidence has grown so, so much since last year when I first heard Rosé’s ETHEREAL cover of Halsey’s song and started gushing my eyes out. I feel like a different person, more socially aware and actually taking care of my mental health. This sounds so cheesy and I hope no one reads this but Blackpink taught me to love myself when I didn’t even realize how or why I hated myself. Because of the shit they’ve gone through from our favorite sexist CEO and random haters I’ve become so much stronger and I’ll continue to get stronger with them in the future.
Blackpink, FIGHTING! 💖

Thank You f(x)
With Amber’s departure from SM, while she hasn’t formally left the group, it does solidify that f(x) will continue to be inactive as a group for a very long/potentially indefinite time. f(x)’s legacy as a 2nd generation group is always overshadowed as they weren’t as visible as their sister group snsd, and SM entertainment always prioritized f(x) members individually despite their group work objectively being some of the best stuff of their kpop generation.
f(x) was one of the best selling 2nd generation kpop groups. From 2011-2015, all their songs were #1 hits on music charts and music shows, their physical album sales were just behind snsd and maybe 2ne1. f(x) was probably one of the first multi-cultural kpop girl groups, with members from the states, China, and Korea. They went on to be the first kpop artist to perform at SXSW, one of the most popular music/art/film festivals in the states. f(x) is also credited with having one of the most musically complex discographies in kpop, with their experimental sounds and risks later being passed down to other SM boy and girl groups.
Individually, The girls broke and redefined so many standards within kpop. Amber’s “tomboy” look was unheard of in kpop and she challenged beauty and style standards. Krystal, despite being the group’s visual and “it” girl, was always unapologetically herself, even when she got hate for her “ice-cold glare”. If she didn’t want to smile she never did, and that is a hard thing for idols to give in to. Victoria was one of the earliest examples of foreign idols being individually recognized in Korea for their charm. During f(x)’s early days, she was the most publicly recognized member through her time in WGM and other variety shows. Luna will always have one of the most underrated voices of kpop, and overall is the strongest all-rounder idol with power vocals of a lead vocal and dance abilities of the main dancer.
I hope to see f(x) as 4 one day, but I thank them for their incredible impact, and I wish the best for Amber and all the members.

nah fuck it. rosé is honestly blackpink’s backbone and without her, the group wouldn’t be what it is. that girl gives 110% every fucking performance. whether she’s singing or just dancing in the background, she gives it everything she has. even if their performance is for a small event, she goes out there ready to leave everything she has on stage.
during an episode of bp diaries, she was seen with a cast on her leg. literally NO ONE suspected anything the entire tour. NOTHING. she went out every single night and gave the fans her absolute best while in pain. never complained on camera. never went on stage and told us what was going on with her so no one would worry.
she’s the one that reaches out to fans the most and tries her best to connect with them. she could easily do an entire instagram live/v live in english or korean, but she always decides to do both and translate whatever she’s saying as best as she can so everyone feels included. she notices the memes. she notices the love fans give her and posts them on her instagram story all the time. she took her time to speak to as many fans as possible during their tour and actually listened to them rather than just a quick “hi bye”.
she might be a little awkward with physical affection at times, but she makes up for it by being able to write/speak her feelings regarding the love she has for both her members and her fans.
rosé is needed no matter what y’all think. her popularity being “lesser” than the other 3 members has nothing to do with how important her role is in the group and the quicker yall realize that, the better. she deserve to have her solo. she deserves to be known as a well rounded member. she deserves to be treated better.
Rosé every 30 seconds: I love you ☺️💓
