We purchased about 7 meters of timber for the frame and 13 pipes to insert the sticks into. Then we drilled at most 2 holes in each piece of timber for the pipes.

Reinforced Concrete
“The history of concrete’s development as a significant building material is, in part, the search for ways of combining concrete with steel to create a material which is both flexible and strong - reinforced concrete. Like stone, unreinforced mass concrete is strong in compression, but weak in tension. This means that if a concrete beam spans between two supports and a load is applied to it, it will most likely fall on the underside, in effect tearing apart. Any beam will deflect under this type of load, that is it will bend into a curve, with the upper surface shortening and the lower one stretching. With a steel beam, stretching is not a problem, as steel is strong in tension, yet it is more likely to fail by snapping or buckling when compressed.
By contrast, concrete can be squashed or compressed without failing. Unreinforced concrete works well (like stone) in load-bearing block structures and arches, but for wide spans and large openings, the sorts of structures that epitomise concrete construction, only reinforced concrete is appropriate. It has steel rods (or sometimes mesh), or occasionally some other material that is strong in tension, cast into it where tension forces occur. In a straightforward beam, this is near the lower side, but in a more complex structure, where the distribution of loads will be more complicated, designing the amount of steel reinforcement necessary and positioning it is a job for a skilled engineer.”

More emphasis onto the ceiling, adding skylights that resemble the flow drawings from earlier
Current Model showing perspective and plan. The idea is that the bedroom would be the darkest room followed by the kitchen which slowly gets brighter and brighter. This should assist my client in waking up. However the windows that I’ve made in this model have not shown a contrast in lighting. This is a first model though.
The image to the right is the model showing use of concrete. I used Permafil to get the concrete shape and feel to the model, followed by sanding it down to make it more smooth.
