SOURDOUGH SEPTEMBER
September has crept up on us again this year but we don’t mind as it’s one of our favourite food months...#sourdoughseptember
After a few cups of tea and some serious thinking, we’ve decided to concentrate on the new old flours that we’ve been lucky enough to get hold of this year. It’s all about heritage!
The line up:
@scotlandthebread Scotland the Bread have grown heritage Rouge d’Ecosse, Hunters wheat and Golden Drop. Having taken the time to rebuild these heritage grains from seed banks we are looking forward to
@trenchmore_farm This year is the first year Trenchmore farm have sold their stoneground heritage flour. Interested to see how this heritage mixed landrace behaves compared to the single wheat varieties from Scotland the Bread.
@mungoswells Based in East Lothian, Mungoswells are our go to flour that we use day to day. Their organic Mullika strong bread flour is like baking with an old friend, it certainly keeps our sourdough starter lively!
@lammasfayre Lammas Fayre produce a range of historic flours, we’ve decided to try out their Victorian heritage blend.
@gilchesters produce stoneground organic heritage wheat, spelt, rye, emmer and einkorn from their borders farm near Hadrian’s Wall. We regularly use their farmhouse blend and rye in our sandwich loaves and we’re looking forward to trying out some recipes with their alternative grains

Real Bread Week 2018
What a difference a year makes! This time last year our sourdough was definitely more tentative with mixed results, twelve months later and we are making sourdough bagels and loaves daily in the cafe! We’ve tried out some sourdough cakes, cinnamon buns, kolache and all sorts of added extras in our loaves.
With a new menu on the way we’re looking forward to trying out new flavours and incarnations...there are some sourdough hot cross kolache that we have lined up for Easter
STREETFOOD FEASTIVAL FOR RESTLESS NATIVES

Yasssssssssssss! Off Kiltr Street Feastival is BACK, and this time we’ll be partying with the RESTLESS NATIVES festival crew over at Glasgow Collective in the East End. Street Feastival will be providing a thrilling and exciting pop-up experience, bringing a carefully handpicked selection of street food offerings, cultures, art, music and styles under one roof during closing weekend of the Restless Natives Festival. Glasgow Collective Studios is located within the Barra’s area of Glasgow, an area historically associated with many cultural activities. Recently, Glasgow City Council has provided significant investment in the hope of once again re-establishing it as a cultural hub. The Feastival will aim to continue the drive of rejuvenating the East End of Glasgow. The Feastival will include a selection of Top Glasgow culinary institutions alongside some very impressive new kids on the block. Expect to see a bar alongside confectionary stalls with delights ranging from milk shakes to craft beer. The overarching theme of the event over and above great food is the collaboration and experience. A glorious soundtrack will be provided by a clutch of very special DJs, playing music from all corners of the earth. There will also be various market stalls selling items ranging from vintage to cotemporary. Alongside the Feastival will be Musical performances inside the Collective studios all day and night.
