Thoughts I had designing these:
Leo: He’s leading some important war meeting while he is on babysitting duty, but he would stop every thing if CJ needed anything at all.
Donnie: I almost made this one into a comic (I still might) but it would go something like this
(-Cassandra: okay boys I’m needed at the outpost, can y’all watch CJ?
-Leo: that won’t work, the only one on base this afternoon is Donnie and he hates kids.
-Cassandra: … he’s letting CJ wear his Battle Shell rn.
-Leo: WHAT?! He never lets me wear it! No fair!!)
Raph: CJ is drawn a bit older here, this is probably one of his last days with Raph before he dies. CJ probably doesn’t have many memories of him, but what he does remember is how safe and loved he felt whenever Raph was around.
Mikey: Tbh all I thought about for this one was ‘I am not drawing Mikey with hair.’ Sorry not sorry I just can’t lol
Cassandra: She’s the one who gave him his hockey stick and he had Donnie trick it out later cuz it reminded CJ of his mom. Also I gave her CJ’s shoulder pad thing, he started wearing it when she died. I really wanted to draw her cuz I feel like she doesn’t get enough love as his mom, but I do like the headcannon that she died when he was still younger.
April: Commander O’Neil! I think April would out live most of the others so I drew CJ older here. Also I don’t actually like drawing young kids that much and I wanted to do an action pose. I like to think CJ looked up to April a lot and she taught him some of her bad ass skills. For her design I based it off of concept art and the designs from that one comic, but I also changed it up a bit just based on personal preference and I wanted her to look like herself just older and was struggling with that. Also, I gave her red and purple bracelets to remember Donnie and Raph after they were gone. (Made from their old masks of course)
Thinking about Casey Jr. makes me so sad cuz, he fought so hard to fix the future but in doing so he made it so his family would never turn into the people he knew. He lost everything, and he’s left with people who are almost his family but they don’t even know him. I listened to Eternity by Alex Warren while drawing these cuz that’s like CJs anthem I think. Like the line “it feels like an eternity since I had you here with me, since I had to learn to be someone you don’t know” like are you kidding? AHH 😭
