HOMEFront Initiative Follow Up

We realize it's been a while, but we wanted to let you know that our HOMEFront Initiative for Quinton Picone has ended. Picone has taken over the keys to his beautiful new home, and we could not be happier for him!

Several volunteers from McGillicutty's were present for the Volunteer Day, and it was amazing to see all of the support.

Thank you to everyone who supported our efforts for this Initiative! We have a few shirts in inventory if you would like to grab one before they are gone. We'll still be donating 100% of the proceeds to Homes for Our Troops for their current and future projects!

Support Our Troops Today/And Look Good Doing It

For the next several months, McGillicutty's continues working to raise funds for Oklahoma-native Quinton Picone, an Army veteran who lost both his legs after stepping on an IED while he was deployed in Afghanistan. We have designed a shirt that is inspired by Picone, and 100% of the proceeds from the shirt will be donated to the Homes for Our Troops organization, who will build a specially-adapted home for him.

What is a Specially-Adapted Home?

Homes for Our Troops builds single-level homes, equipped with over 150 special adaptations including widened doorways, automatic door openers, and roll-under cook tops and sinks. These adaptations are designed to give our heroes full wheelchair accessibility. The veterans receive these homes mortgage free, allowing them to focus on their recovery and embark on new careers, start families and return to activities they enjoyed prior to their injuries.

The Urgent Need

Over 1,700 have returned home from post 9/11 wars with life-altering injuries. These injuries include the loss of one or more limbs, varying levels of paralysis, and traumatic brain injury (TBI). These heroes who fought for our freedom overseas must now relearn skills often taken for granted, like walking, eating, talking and bathing. Their homes, sadly, are no longer places of comfort and safety, but rather room after room filled with obstacles that make caring for themselves and their families nearly impossible.

Each single-level home is equipped with over 150 special adaptations including widened doorways, lowered countertops, roll-under cook tops and sinks, all designed to give our heroes full wheelchair accessibility. In cases where a Veteran is paralyzed, the home may include specialized items including a lift system and voice activated controls.

Veterans receive these homes mortgage free, allowing them to focus on their recovery and embark on new careers, start families and return to activities they enjoyed prior to their injuries.
