     “Yea, guess it did…”

No smile touched his lips, and that in itself should have been the biggest indicator that something wasn’t quite the same about Earth’s hero. He was studying Vegeta as though he had come across some new and strange species that he was trying to make sense of. Sure, his memories were there, but they felt so distant. It was almost frightening to feel this way, as though he were floating a million miles out in space just watching this moment happen. He needed t ground himself.

     “Gohan…how is he? And the others? Has there been trouble on Earth?”

Whis had promised no interruptions during their training, yet that had also meant no news of family and friends, nor of the planet he fought for. No wonder he felt so very detached.

Vegeta was noticing the difference quite ridiculously so, and it was a bit unnerving to see the usually excitedly annoying Saiyan like this. Though, he shoved any of this strangeness aside in order to get out the responses that were most definitely needed to be said to the other. He must be so lost. He looks it. Why in the hell do I care?     “They’re fine. Everything’s been good and safe, while you were away. You know, Kakarot, even for you three years is a bit much. There was no notice of it, and I’ve gotten quite an earful from your family from time to time. Thankfully, they’ve stopped pestering around here, but still... What happened to you? Did Whis knock some sense into you, finally? Hmph. About time, if that’s the case...” And I don’t like it one bit. He’s stronger than me, isn’t he... Damn you, Whis! If he’s leaped to a height higher than what we all saw, I will personally see to it that you get nothing from my wife’s gourmet dishes. Wipes his forehead with the towel around his shoulders, and just assesses the state of the other Saiyan. It was certainly odd to see him looking so... It’s as if he’s really here. What did they do to him? No, wait. I don’t care...... But Gohan would. Damn it all. | @earthssavicr​ |

Three Years.

Three years had passed since the tournament’s end. Since Goku had been offered training by Whis himself, and had accepted without hesitation. Everyone had expected a wait, of course, and this wasn’t even the longest of the Saiyan’s many departures from Earth. Yet somehow, it seemed different this time…

No one would feel his return, for his ki was almost completely concealed. Not by choice, just by nature. Goku wore a strangely somber look, and it was with grey eyes that he examined his surroundings. Capsule Corp…With just a moment’s focus he knew that Bulma was deep underground in her lab, the boys were across town with Chichi, and Vegeta was right where he expected him. Goku didn’t even knock to announce his presence, sure that the proud Prince would hardly notice over the sounds of his workout. 

     “Long time no see, Vegeta. Keeping up your strength, I see.”

Vegeta hadn’t expected someone like the other Saiyan to really be gone for this long, as that would have been his department long ago. Though, it didn’t bother him that much at the time, since he was most likely just receiving more training. I’d imagine Whis was just kidding about the part on being a God of Destruction, as he usually was. We’re nowhere near that level, after all...  Though the years went on, and it was almost ridiculous with how much he actually, dare he say it, missed the damn oaf. Of course those thoughts were only with himself, and no one else would notice the way he’d slam his fist harder into his training bots. No one would notice how he’d settle himself further into more private sessions where he’d try, try to attain what Kakarot had back at the tournament. Yet, all of his efforts had been for nothing, and he found himself only trying to push further. That voice had him immediately turning, stopping mid-punch, and his heart leaped several times up into his throat from sheer surprise.  That was quickly replaced with something short of being calm, his normal reserved set of minor aggression at just seeing the other here before him. Though, there was something strange about the Saiyan, and he couldn’t stop staring at those eyes of his.    “Kakarot... So, you’re finally back. Took you long enough. Hmph.” | @earthssavicr​ |

zaamasu:

     “I wouldn’t dream of it, mortal. So don’t cry       when you’re hit with the power of the Gods.”

Taking his stance, Zamasu waited only a moment before rushing forward to begin the mock battle. Of course, he was taking it as seriously as he would a fight for his life. This was a chance to prove the error of mortal thinking, even if only once instance.

As expected, they began with a warm-up, a mix of punches and blasts that amounted to little on either end. Soon, however, things intensified and Zamasu wasted no time in forming his favored Ki-blade around his hand. With precision, he aimed a sharp blow at the Prince’s neck…a blow that could be fatal if no blocked or dodged.

     “Is this all you’ve got, human?!”

Vegeta couldn’t have been happier with all of this, as the excitement in getting to fight someone else was already too much. He was going to drag this out for as long as he could, even if he already knew the outcome. That smirk never leaving him, and he blocked every punch that was given. When he saw the blade of ki rushing towards him, this was when he deemed it appropriate, and in a blaze of golden fire his form changed. His hair was the same color as the golden aura that surrounded him, and his eyes were piercing blue-green. They stared triumphantly as he seemed unfazed by the blade, and a resounding thunk being heard.

It was obvious enough that Vegeta’s slights were intentional, but that didn’t make them any less effective. Gowasu would have certainly told him to ignore such an attitude, that the Kai were above such conflict. To Zamasu, however, this display was beyond offensive; it was downright blasphemous.

“It is not your kind’s job to be of use. It is simply to live the life that the God’s gave you, and even that much is desecrated by mortal sin. However, I see that such knowledge refuses to enter your small mind, and so perhaps I will show you how much more powerful we are. You are here to train, correct? Sparring is one form of that.”

    “If that is what you wish. Let’s spar, then.” Leads him over to a place that was a little further away from anything valuable, like their precious Kai home, and unfolds his arms. Faces the other with still such a smug expression. Points at him with two fingers, and can’t help the little chuckle that escapes his throat.     “Come on! Give me all that you got. Don’t you dare hold back, Kai.” He wasn’t even going to waste much time, for he knew that this was going to end pretty quickly enough as it were. I’m going to have fun, either way... | @zaamasu​ |

     “You dare…?!”

Anger rose in an instant, so quickly that Zamasu hardly even registered the purple ki glowing from elbow to fingertips. Teeth gritted hard against the desire to lunge forth with a yell, yet something was holding him back. The faint recognition that attacking a guest wasn’t appropriate behavior…despite any provocation on said guest’s part.

“You…are a fool, if you truly believe that, Vegeta. A mere mortal cannot stand up to a God, it’s how things are meant to be. If humans were strong enough to oppose us, it would upset the balance of the Universe. Even with all that pride and ego, you must recognize this.”

Vegeta saw the display of anger before him, and how badly did he wish to disobey Beerus in this moment. There was a great need to see this Kai trembling beneath his boot, humilation running rampant in his face, and it took every part of him not to react. The only hint that he was beyond thrilled at all this, was the pointed smirk seemingly plastered on his face.     “I don’t see how it would really upset that balance. Maybe you’d care to      enlighten me, Zamasu. Shouldn’t a mortal that has the power of the Gods      be more of a use? If you could even control someone as low as we mortals.      Besides, you’re looking at one that could pummel you into the ground.” | @zaamasu​ |

zaamasu:

Vegeta was already imposing, in his eyes, just by remaining here for more than a few hours. The world of the Kai was just that, a planet dedicated to the Kai race that watched over so many mortals. Not a training ground for said population (and displaying such power in their wake was already such an affront to the Gods). Why Gowasu had agreed to this arrangement, the younger Kai could not fathom, nor did he approve in the slightest.

“If you would listen rather than simply barking like some rabid dog, then perhaps you would hear my point. I was simply saying that the strength you possess may be…impressive. For a mortal. But it simply cannot match up to ours as Divine beings. It’s simple fact.”

    “With a weakling like yourself, I doubt you’d barely stand up      against a few of my punches. Though, I’m not supposed to      be here for that... Apparently.” And curse that damn Beerus for denying it! Fighting is in my blood, more so than anything Kakarot has to say. Lucky for me, he’s off keeping himself busy, and not being an annoying pest. Folds his arms tightly across his chest, but gives this one another look. It was quite curious to see this Kai as he was before, and still he and Beerus doubted if there would be any difference or change... Highly unlikely, really.       “You may want to re-check your little facts, Zamasu.” | @zaamasu​ |

  “So, if you’re done talking to the air, is there a point to all of this?    Or are you just a huge bluff of a fighter, because that’s what it    sounds like to me...” He was already quite done with this conversation, and wanted to get back to doing whatever he was doing prior to this whole mess, which was -of course- training. | @zaamasu |

     “Hm….”

There’s just not enough to go on, dammit! They hated each other, yet had similar attitudes. I wish Beerus hadn’t clammed up so quickly…Snapping out of her thoughts, Bulma turned her attention back to Vegeta.

     “But his henchmen saw him do it, right? Frieza, that is…       He’s definitely the one who destroyed the planet?”

     “Yes... Zarbon and Dodoria made it very clear that it was Frieza who did it.” Though, now she had him wondering a little further. He had an idea of what she was insinuating, but that’s just too out of the...-- No, it’s not and you know it.    “...Bulma...” The longest pause from the Saiyan Prince, and he gave her one of his most serious of stares as the idea was truly forming in his head. “Tell me you aren’t suggesting that it was Beerus who blew up my world.......” He did not want to believe it was a possibility, but now that he was older anything was bound to be truth. @capsulecorpcutie​

     “I see…”

Of course, she knew the story for the most part. It wasn’t something Vegeta brought up often nowadays, but it was still old news. She almost felt bad for bothering him with all of this, yet it was just a hunch driving her on.

     “You said that Beerus visited your planet as well.       Did he know Frieza? DId the two ever, er…talk?”

   “Oh, he hated Frieza. The two of them hated each other, except we     all know Frieza was his bitch.” Tries not to think too much on that aspect, but he definitely enjoyed seeing that in his younger years.     “....Anyway, hm... They mostly stayed away from each other, but the      occasionally accidental barging into the throne room would occur,      and sometimes sparse conflict. I’m surprised it wasn’t Beerus who      finished off Frieza, before I was even old enough to try it myself.” @capsulecorpcutie​

     “Yea, and when are you not? Anyways, we       should probably go somewhere private for this.”

Glancing over her shoulder, Bulma motioned for the Saiyan to follow. At the very least, Vegeta had calmed down a bit. Once inside, she fixed her husband with a harsh stare…that somewhat softened as she began to form the question to start this discussion.

     “Vegeta…what do you know about the destruction of your home planet?”

    “...................” He had no idea why she was bringing this up, and more importantly what this had to do with Beerus?? He had recalled only a few incidents with the God on his homeworld, but that was it... Yes, humiliating ones, but nothing too out of the ordinary. It was Frieza who always spread the most terror for his people, even if the other was visiting. It was the horned-lunatic that was almost always a present force. Still, why is she wondering about it now? I’m completely past that life, right??     “......Well, that Frieza originally told us survivors that a meteor     had struck and destroyed it. I always had my doubts, but when     I found out just before we met... It seems he was the one to do     it himself, after dealing with a revolt from the Saiyans. We had     gone down fighting, as it should have been...” @capsulecorpcutie​

     “We need to speak, now. It’s about Lord Beerus.”

She added, hoping that would catch his attention. Lord knows the man was impossible to pull away from his training sessions, but when it came to the God of Destruction, Vegeta seemed like an entirely different persone sometimes.

Sighs, and wipes his forehead with the towel he had set aside, before placing it around his neck as he went over to see what she had to say. Of course how could he refuse something about the damn cat-God, when it could be something as stupid as needing more food... Though, something about his wife’s urgency in her tone was irking him. What did he do to her?     “It better be good, Bulma... I was in the middle of training.” @capsulecorpcutie​

Already panting too hard, after his extreme routine of working his body to the limit, and a single look over was cast to her once he could finally speak.    “What is it, woman?!?!” @capsulecorpcutie​

     “Heh, I guess it is pretty odd, huh?”

It was a comment without humor, the words sounding far away in Goku’s own ears. He had hope to escape everyone’s notice, but that had been a foolish hope. Still, he was glad it was Vegeta, and not Chichi or one of his sons, to see him like this. He hoped, even, that the Prince might understand somewhat (though he wasn’t so foolish to think Vegeta would ever show it).

“I was just thinking…about Black. What he did, even if it was in the past, even if he wants to atone. I’ve always believed in second chances,” His words now came through clenched teeth, fists balling in his lap. “So why, now…is it so hard for me to forgive someone?”

Vegeta let it linger on in silence for a few moments, as he was taking in this sort of situation quite seriously. For Vegeta, above all else before, knew very well on what the other was going through. It took years for the Prince to even begin to forgive himself, much less the thought of trying to forgive another as dark as Black had been; For what he could still be, now.     “Kakarot... You have every right to feel the way you are about that man.      He stole your body, he stole your pride, killed your family... There’s much      to not forgive in a being like that; a God, of all beings... It’s disgusting that      one of them had sunken so low, but you are who you are, Kakarot.      Perhaps, you’re needing more time... If it were me, well...... He would      have been killed long ago.” | @earthssavicr​ |
