"this is me you're talking to, do you really think i'm ever going to be careful at anything i do?" he asked her, a small grin pulling on the edges of his lips. "plus, the dude deserved me knocking him the hell out, so what if i got a few cuts on my hand from it?"

the fact that she jumped at his action caused a small and almost inaudible chuckle to pass through his lips. leave it to him to find the chance of getting punched in the face funny. however, her comment caused his brows to raise upwards, his head tilting to the side ever-so-slightly. "oh, is that so? you've got me curious. what would you consider to be 'something better' than free drinks for the entire evening?" kaden asked, his lips curling up in a smirk as he felt hers press against the edge of his. "it's more fun this way. sure, that way is entertaining, but this way? you and i both get to watch the range of emotions that'll play across her face. which already seems to be happened." the male replied, nodding his head lightly in the direction of a woman sitting a few tables from them, her expression changing from determined to confused in a matter of seconds.

being in the line of business kaden was, he was extremely good at knowing his surroundings, the people in said surroundings and the nearest exits out ever building he ever stepped foot in. he didn't see a place and think about how pretty it was, all he saw were the blueprints that his mind created the second he walked in the door. the same trait was the reason he'd been able to pinpoint the person out of the entire crowd, the same trait that knew she was following him around. "you don't? are you saying you find me attractive, pippa?" kaden teased, wiggling his brow at her before a grin began painting it's way onto his features. "i promise i can afford it, and that i'll make your time with me worthwhile." the male retorted, glancing down at her as a small chuckle fell from his lips. "you should have told me you were a whiskey person before now, i've got an unopened bottle of rather expensive stuff sitting at home because it's something that should be shared."

kaden was known for being closed-off, cocky and slightly temperamental at times. however, there were a select few people that he'd grown comfortable around, so much so that he began showing them that he could laugh, could have a good time and didn't take everything so seriously, even if he looked like it. "see, that's where you're wrong. i said it was a possibility, not that it was the truth. there is a big difference there." the older male retorted, rolling his eyes slightly at the other's comment. "i've got a decent track record when it comes to my looks that proves otherwise. let's just say it's owned by a female who's rather materialistic and impressed with my car." he smirked. "i didn't think you had enough brain capacity to actually worry, let alone worry about me." kaden teased, giving the other a light nudge.

"that is exactly why you need to go clothes shopping. i'm not saying it's always fun and games, but i happen to like going to get a new suit here and there. especially when i have a nice chunk of money laying around and no bills to pay. plus, you need to go get a nice dress. who else am i gonna take to nice ass restaurants when they open?" he asked, crossing his arms over his chest as he glanced around the room they were in. "top shelf cigarettes aren't all they're cracked up to be, trust me. i used to be the guy that spends ten dollars on a pack just to realize they taste the same as a four dollar pack." kaden told her, pulling out the pack that sat in the inside pocket of his leather jacket, sliding them over towards her. "that's about as top notch as it gets, try them before you waste your money."

while kaden was usually smart about how he presented himself in public most of the time, there were occasions where he just wanted to let go of that, to do stupid shit and not care about the consequences and tonight had been one of those nights. a night ruined by one singular person.. was it ruined fully? who knew, all he knew at the moment was that he'd enjoy getting the person off his back. "i had a feeling you could, wouldn't have come up to you if i didn't have faith in your ability to crush her heart." the male replied, his voice almost drowned out from the music that blasted through the building. "why would i rethink it wheh i'm being serious?" kaden asked, quirking his brow at her. "i'd like an opponent that's not afraid to actually hit me. my trainer refuses to actually fight back and well, most people in the gym don't want to go in the ring with me because they know they'd lose. i want good competition. as for my face? i've had my nose broken at least seven times in my life, my jaw broken once. it's still somehow working for me. plus, i'd like to think that i have other redeemable parts of me other than my face." he chuckled lightly, nodding his head towards her. "i happen to like expensive things, is that a problem?"

“good.” mikhail replied, giving him a small nod, face full of a relief he couldn’t hide, no matter how good mikhail was at concealing his own emotions. he took a deep breath, cracking his fingers in a nervous habit, trying to keep them from shaking; dread and excitement pooled at his stomach, and mikhail felt utterly pathetic; he felt pathetic, because he knew he only had that level of visceral reaction because of how repressed he was. it made him sick, and it made him hate himself just a little more. at that point, mikhail simply wanted to run and hide, to ignore the conversation he just had, to pretend that he wasn’t feeling all of the emotions he was. “good.” he repeated, though this time was regarding kaden’s capabilities of keeping himself quiet. “where is she?” he asked, taking in another deep breath before he tentatively wrapped his arm over the other male’s shoulders, tugging kaden a little – a lot – closer, frowning a little bit at the awkwardness he felt. as a six feet four man, he couldn’t exactly hide the action from the people around them, but mikhail did his best to hunch his shoulders down, almost folding into himself andthe man in his arms, hazel eyes wide as he looked around. much to his dismay, nobody seemed to notice the contact between them; mikhail swallowed thickly, unsure of how to feel about it. it was such a big moment for him, and it felt utterly anticlimatic, with not a single person in the room caring enough to spare them a second glance. “what do we tell her?”

it took kaden forever to try and pinpoint what might be going through the other male's head, and even though he'd been racking his brain for reasons, there wasn't one that was yelling at him as the obvious reason. sure, he had a few ideas that he thought might be the case, but it wasn't for him to think about nor was it his right to ask the other if he was okay. which was why he had to shut his mouth for a moment, almost letting a 'are you okay' slip past his lips. however, he was able to reel it back in, shaking it off as if it'd never even been a thought in his mind at all. he wasn't the type to press. most of that came from the fact he hated when people asked him question after question, continually pressing him on a situation he didn't want to speak about.. some if it had to do with the fact that he respected mikhail. the other had been in the group for longer than kaden had, which means he'd been there when kaden joined and well, from then on, kaden had this respect for the other. was it ever voiced? no, but it existed. "three tables over, army green crop top, pretending that she's on her phone right now." kaden replied, his tone low as he looked everywhere around the room but the place she happened to be sitting. however, the second the other pulled him closer, kaden couldn't keep the small smirk off his lips, making the action far more believable by wrapping his arm around the other's waist, making sure there was no space between them. but he'd caught the other looking around the room, which caused his brow to raise out of curiosity. "welcome to the one place you can be whoever the fuck you want to be because no one else gives a shit. why do you think i like clubs and bars so much?" he asked, a chuckle leaving his lips at the question. "we don't tell her anything. actions speak louder than words, which means she'll pick up on them. but if she comes up and starts asking questions, we wing it."

"just promise me you're not going to turn the bass up so loud that you can't even hear the music anymore.." the words were light, meant to be taken in a teasing manner because kaden wasn't the type to judge others on how they lived their lives, especially when it came to small things like that. "i never tried to be discreet, though. i figured hiding in plain sight would be a better idea than skirting around like i've done something wrong." he shrugged, glancing back at his car for a moment. "are we, though? i think this just goes to show that we happen to have really good taste in cars. plus, they get us positive reactions and attention. i can't find anything to complain about there."

"do you enjoy hurting every man's ego, or just mine? because if it's just mine, i think we might have to reevaluate our friendship. please do not refer to my dick as kaden jr, ever again. wasn't one of those people that came up with a nickname, sure a shit don't want or need one now, far too old for that." he said with a huff, shaking his head at the thought. "yeah, i know that.. and i should feel bad but honestly? not the first, won't be the last." the male replied, nodding his head as he ran a hand through his hair, pushing it away from his eyes slightly. "considering i usually tell most of my hook ups not to expect anything else out of me, yeah." he shrugged. however, now it was time to roll his eyes at her. "i can't say that i'm shocked, really. are you even capable of doing something out of the kindness of your heart?" his words were light, teasing her right back as he glanced over at her, a chuckle escaping past his lips. "behind us, four hundred yards or so, blue top, black pants." he spoke, keeping his tone low. "if you want to, knock yourself out. that'd be entertainment enough for us both."

he'd noticed her walk into the bar a while ago, choosing to stay hidden in the shadows as they both went about their business. however, he'd glanced over a few times, just to see what was going on, his brow quirking as he watched people fall into her trap. it was an easy one to fall into, he had to give them that, but he knew better and well, he wasn't that naive. not when it came to her. kaden was good at pool, far better than most, but he was sure she'd beat him if he'd ever asked to go against her. but after a bit of leaving her to do her own thing, he'd realized he'd been followed and knew she'd play along, or well, he hoped she would. "i don't know if i should take that as a compliment or if you're supposed to be insulting me, sugar." kaden retorted, glancing down at the pool table below them, half tempted to take the pool stick from the person she'd been going against just to help them out somewhat. but that was a lost cause, one he wasn't about to get involved with. "oh please, she doesn't intimidate me. in fact, it's the opposite. i didn't even notice her until i realized she was following me around like some lost puppy." he shot back, leaning against the pool table as he watched the loser of the previous match grumble to their group of friends. "help me out with this and i'll get you whatever you want." kaden said, sighing to himself as he gently grabbed her wrist, pulling her towards him. "please don't make me ask again, lor. you know i hate asking people for help, with anything."

“honestly? there’s not a lot of places that i’d want to be other than here. i’d love to visit ireland, though. so i guess i’d go with that.”

“once. a very, very long time ago. or i thought it was love. we were so young, looking back on it now, i think it was infatuation, but back then you couldn’t tell me that. things didn’t go the way i wanted them to and because of what i do, it had to end. haven’t seen her since. it’s better that way, though.”

21) Is there something you loved doing, but have stopped for whatever reason?

“boxing. i mean, i still do box but it’s only for exercise at this point. used to go to fights as a way to make money. i’d like to get back into that but at the same time, i’m okay with just boxing for fun.”
