Well I could go on about breads and pastries forever but I would bore you, so what kind of doughnuts and sandwiches do you like? I’m a simple kind of man, just a BLT kind of guy but as for doughnuts, Krispy Kreme wins forever and always. If you go to the actual Krispy Kreme stores, you can even get them unglazed and those taste sooo good somehow. Laminating is the cheffy term for folding and rolling the butter into the dough over and over to create all the glorious flaky layers in the puff pastry.

The first you’ve ever had?! Now that’s something I can’t believe. Maybe you’ve had it and you just didn’t know it. Puff pastry is just the name for this kind of dough, anyways, maybe you’ve had it in other dishes and you just can’t remember... but I’m glad you like it! I thought I might’ve gone overboard on the laminating but I’m pretty happy with the results.

I’ve used Chinese five spice in french toast before and I loved it, five spice isn’t just for stir fries and char siu pork, ok. It’s basically just anise, cloves, cinnamon, ginger, and peppercorns. Sometimes there’s ones with fennel in it but if you toast and blend your own spices it’s not a problem. Unless of course you like fennel, but I’m not a fan. Anyways yes, Chinese five spice palmiers, wanna make some?

Crazy foodie and proud. Ok, you can try some now that they’ve been on the rack for a bit, but cooling foods down is actually very important. I mean foods taste different when they’re hot and when they’re cold, ok, that’s why you’ve gotta wait like half an hour before you cut into a pie or wait like overnight for the flavors of sauces to mingle and develop.

Cocaine in the bu - I would never disrespect butter like that, that’s just how good this butter is, ok? The pre-made puff pastry made with like margarine or vegetable oil products just can’t compete. This is just my tester batch, to make sure the dough is good. You always have to test the dough before you start putting stuff all in it. I mean if the dough doesn’t taste good, nothing you make with it will taste good, or it’ll be so obvious you’re trying to hide the flavors...

Puff pastry making from scratch is quite the process, yeah, but the product is worth it, man. Of course they’re pastries! But don’t you hate when you can’t wait to eat your food and the first bite is so hot it burns your mouth so you can barely taste the rest of the dish? Because I do, and that’s what we’re avoiding here.
