     ❝ o-oh, well— ❞ her compliment throws him off guard as a hand rises to adjust the glasses in question, lips twisting into a prideful grin. ❝ thank you. they can’t exactly do what they’re supposed to anymore, but they were definitely nifty while they lasted. ❞ after all, the killer corporation looming over the planet would probably track him down within SECONDS should he choose to access their finances WITHOUT authorization a SECOND time. 

     ❝ so do you FIGHT with that thing? even with practice, i doubt it would be easy. ❞ he wouldn’t even try to hide that he was impressed with the supposed SKILL the pandoran mastered.

    nights like this felt the most PEACEFUL amidst their hectic lives together. . . no bandits, no fighting, no HYPERION— just the comforting hum of the caravan’s motor and a sea of stars glowing against their jet-black backdrop to marvel at.

     breaking through ( admittedly AWFUL ) first impressions had been difficult, but her efforts never went unnoticed. on these nights, she’d join him on the sofa and engage in idle small-talk until the two fell asleep, working to make ends meet as the makeshift team was forced to co-exist. while at first OFF-PUTTING, vaughn came to look forward to the habitual conversations, and soon the cheerful buzz of their voices joined the caravan’s lulling ambiance. 

     tonight, the abrupt sensation of her cheek nestling against the top of his shoulder caused his body to STIFFEN and voice to falter—— maybe making the topic all about CONSTELLATIONS hadn’t been the best decision for both of the conversation’s participants. eyes shifted to look down at his companion, daring not to move from the fear of disrupting her peaceful slumber. could he sit like this all night? certainly not. he could already feel the crick in his neck from trying to remain frozen in time, even altering his BREATHING to keep shoulders from rising too high. but after an ETERNITY ( or perhaps it was only five seconds ) a soft ‘keep going‘ caused his heart to swell with confidence. ❝  well from here it’s a little difficult to tell, but that cluster of stars to the left of hyperion makes a constellation called Sphyraena Major, called that because of its position relative to the one beneath hyperion—  ❞ and so he went on until his own somnolence overtook him, his own head leaning against sasha’s as the two rested until another busy day began.
