“i knew i could count on you,” she told the familiar face as she ordered a couple more shots for them. “so, what have you been up to?”
she shrugged, “still teaching, still with elena- long-distance but we’re making it work.” she thanked the bartender as he set the shots in front of them, “and you’re engaged now? that’s great.” she paused, glancing around, “have you seen val and layla yet?”

“those puns are half the reason i’m with you, ya’ know?” elena teased, leaning in to press a kiss to morgan’s temple. being with her girlfriend made this reunion thing actually tolerable. “i totally believe that.” she hummed. tucking a strand of the other’s hair behind her ear, she sighed. “you know that if there was a nasa facility in atlanta, i’d be there in a heartbeat, babe. there’s nothing i want more than to be closer to you.”
morgan smiled, leaning closer to her girlfriend, “i know. i wish we were closer too. i hate not being able to see you everyday. we’ll figure it out though, we always do.” then she sighed, “i feel like there’s a million people i don’t want to see and we’re probably going to see them all. reunions are a lot more stressful than i imagined when i was actually in college.”

sitting in one of the bars that was right off campus, brooke ordered another shot. being back in the area just reminded her of how off course her life had gotten over the past couple of years. she downed the shot and looked over at a familiar face, “do a shot with me!” she said a little too enthusiastically, “it’s on lance. actually, get whatever you want, the entire night is on him.”
morgan let out a sigh as she sat at the bar, not too happy to be back at her old school. a lot had happened since she’d last been here, at the familiar voice, she let a smile slip onto her face, “you know i’m always here for shots- especially if they’re free.” she slid closer to her old friend

“i don’t know. that kid was a little shit head. he’s not going to be invited to mason’s sixth birthday party. i can promise that.” she chuckled. “he is though. i love my little man. although the fact that he is chivalrous is dangerous. he’s going to be a lady killer when he’s older.”
“good, don’t invite that kid to anything- i bet his parents are complete assholes too, like, who raises their kid to be like that?” she grinned, “yeah, you might be lookin’ at some trouble when he gets to his teenage years.”

“mhm, well i landed the cutest high school teacher there is so i can’t say i’m complaining.” elena retorted, grinning against her girlfriend’s lips. “that sounds about right. god, you’re so smart.” she teased, stealing one more quick kiss before sighing contently. “i missed you too, babe. so much. knowing that i’d get to be with you for a week was like, the majority of the reason i’ve been eagerly anticipating this thing for the last couple of months.”
“yeah, yeah, well, you’re the apple of my eye.” she joked, “yep, i’m pretty smart- one of princeton’s finest, in fact.” she chuckled, smiling, “probably wouldn’t have come if you weren’t going to be here, honestly... so many places i’d rather be than princeton, new jersey- unless you’re here, then it’s the best place on earth. d.c. is just too fucking far from atlanta.”

elena grinned, squeezing morgan’s hand. “yeah, you think so? how’d you get so lucky to land the hottest space nerd alive, then?” she teased. crinkling her nose she shook her head. “well, no — it actually says elena reyes, astrophysicist and then a bunch of letters but we can pretend.” she retorted.
she smiled, shrugging, “i don’t know, i must just have a lot of luck. because you are out of this world!” she retorted, leaning in and kissing her gently, “astrophysicist comma professional space nerd then a bunch of letters.” she laughed, then she murmured, “i missed you a lot. a lot a lot.”

“i’m seeing all these former students with kids and such now and it’s really throwing me. some of y’all have changed so much but the only thing that’s really changed about me is that i smoke significantly less weed and i’m professionally obsessed with space now. i’ve even got the nasa i.d card to prove it.”
morgan chuckled, “well, some things never change, but that’s ok because you’re still the hottest space nerd alive.” she slid her hand into elena’s, “is that what that id card says? ‘professionally obsessed with space’?” she joked

“so a kid in my son’s class said ‘your momma is so ugly..’ to my son, and apparently mason said something along the lines that he was a liar and then kicked him in the shin. i couldn’t even be mad at him about it and instead of punishing him i gave him ice cream. so that’s the kind of mom i am now.”
“being protective of his mom is an very valid reason to kick someone- what kind of asshole kid had the nerve to call you ugly, wow.” she laughed, “mason sounds quite chivalrous, he definitely deserved that ice cream.”

“It’s definitely nice to have that last cushion year before you really have to start making decisions,” Ben agreed. Although he already knew what he’d be doing after graduation, he still liked having one last year before having to really enter the work force. “I’ll have to make sure to get its favorite food or something. Set it up nicely so it won’t have any reason to stare at me in the middle of the night with its claws out.”

morgan fake gasped, throwing her arm over her eyes dramatically as if she was feeling faint, “yes! i’m so distracted i don’t even know if i’ll be able to make it all the way to the volleyball courts!” she pulled her arm away, laughing, “not distracted quite yet, but it’s not a bad view.”
