Check-In To Your Heart
Choi Seunghyun x f!reader「Han No-eul」
Summary: A chance mix-up of luggage brings Han No-eul and Choi Seunghyun together, strangers at first who discover each other’s memories and inner worlds through their swapped belongings. Their fateful encounter slowly unfolds into a quiet romance, where new beginnings rise from the wounds of the past.

Airports always made No-eul feel a little unanchored—places where no one stayed, only arrived or left. She had just returned from a long trip, but something inside her still felt like it hadn’t landed. Maybe it wasn’t the jet lag. Maybe it was the silence that clung to her since she left Seoul… or rather, since he left her.
She stood at the baggage carousel, tired eyes scanning the sea of nearly identical luggage. Finally, her suitcase appeared—black, unmarked, ordinary. Just how she liked it. She hoisted it down, placed it on the trolley, and rolled it quietly out of the airport and into the dusk-colored city.
---
Back home, she kicked off her shoes, draped her coat over a chair, and unzipped the suitcase. The moment the zipper opened, she froze.
Inside wasn’t her neatly packed set of sweaters and books. Instead, there was an elegant men’s coat, a burgundy scarf, a leather-bound notebook filled with meticulous handwriting—quotes in Korean and French—and a velvet pouch of old jazz CDs.
And then the envelope.
Simple, white, heavy paper. On it, written in looping script:
> Choi Seunghyun.
Her heart skipped.
---
Across the city, Choi Seunghyun was staring at a silk scarf that smelled like lavender and a book of poetry titled:
> "It’s Okay If It Hurts – Poems by Han No-eul."
Tucked between the pages was a handwritten note:
“Don’t forget: even if you’re scared, go anyway.”
He smiled faintly. He wasn’t easily surprised anymore—life had made sure of that. But this… this woman, her words, her scent, her silence… she had walked into his life without meaning to. And she had left her voice behind in his suitcase.
He dialed the number written on the luggage tag.
---
No-eul picked up on the third ring.
“Hello, this is Han No-eul.”
Her voice was soft. Sleepy. Sad, maybe.
“Good evening,” came the reply, smooth and calm. “Choi Seunghyun. I think you’re currently sleeping next to my jazz collection.”
She laughed quietly, and it was the first genuine sound she’d made all day.
“And you’re reading my heartbreak.”
“Possibly. It’s beautiful heartbreak.”
A pause.
“Maybe we should meet,” he said. “To return our... lives.”
---
The next evening, they met at a quiet book café. Seunghyun was already there when No-eul walked in, draped in a soft, pale coat. She wasn’t flashy—but something about her made people look twice. Maybe it was the stillness in her. Or the way her eyes looked like they held stories she wasn’t yet ready to tell.
He stood.
“Han No-eul.”
She smiled faintly.
“Choi Seunghyun.”
The suitcases sat between them, untouched.
“I read one of your quotes,” she said, gently placing her cup down. “The one that said: ‘Wine only becomes good if it comes from wounds.’”
“And what did you think?” he asked.
“I think... it might be true. If you let it age long enough.”
He raised an eyebrow, amused.
“Do you always talk like this?”
“Only when someone listens.”
---
They walked after coffee. Through a quiet park where the trees were dressed in early summer green. They didn’t talk much. They didn’t need to. The silence between them wasn’t empty—it was waiting.
“Why did you leave Seoul?” he asked as they passed beneath an old streetlamp.
“To forget someone,” she answered.
“Did it work?”
“No,” she said. “But maybe now... I don’t want to forget anymore.”
He stopped walking. She did too.
The space between them was small. Just a step, a heartbeat.
He looked at her—not like someone watching, but someone seeing.
“And you?” she asked. “Why didn’t you read my poems right away?”
“I was afraid they’d tell me too much about you,” he replied softly. “Before I had a chance to find out myself.”
He stepped closer. Just barely. His hand reached out, fingertips brushing the edge of her coat. A quiet gesture. Gentle. Like pausing after the perfect line in a poem.
“I don’t usually start things like this,” he murmured.
“I don’t usually swap suitcases,” she smiled.
“Maybe this was the only way it could’ve happened.”
And then, simply, softly—they kissed.
Not rushed. Not dramatic. Just two people who realized, quietly, that they might have found exactly what they weren’t looking for.
---
The next morning, No-eul woke up to a small package on her table. A new CD, wrapped in cream-colored paper.
On the label, in his handwriting:
> “Even if it was an accident… I’d choose you again.”
