Steve and Cath get together while being at naval academy and even if it's not illegal to date another midshipman, they want to keep it secret for a while. Which means dates off the base, lots of written notes being exchanged etc. And one particular phone call from Steve where he's talking dirty just to see how long Cath can hang out with her friends while he's telling her details about how he'll fuck her later ;)
