merula raised a brow at the blonde but took a few fries out anyway, offering a small smile of thanks to her. “ it’s just weird, i thought i’d hate being stuck in a town in the middle of nowhere. but it’s turned out to be more of a learning process than anything else. ”

“ for once --- i might have to say that i agree with you, haywood. ” merula replied with a bite of her lip. “ the town itself isn’t as bad as it could be, but i have a feeling the reason that we’re here isn’t as friendly as we might think. ”

“ well, as far as i’m aware, dinosaurs have been extinct for a very long time. ” merula frowned at the man.

“ i know, it sounds desperate but i’ve been here a while & i’ve tried a lot of different things to get out but there’s nothing. ”

“ it really is the best. ” merula agreed, a hint of a smile on her face. “ it’s weird  --- ever since i got here i’ve found a lot of different things to eat that i wouldn't have tried before. ”

“Wait - what do you mean it was my fault?” Carlos frowned, shaking his head as he stood up a little, staring at the people now claiming he was responsible, “I literally just walked up here to see what was going on - clearly there was a problem before I arrived!” The usually quiet young man was a little on edge, he had so far had no luck finding Dude and it was starting to cause him to be a little more than upset.

merula took a deep breath, deciding that this wasn’t the right course of action & perhaps a gentler tone was needed. “ no, no --- that’s not what i was saying. ” she looked over to the other. “ i just think that involving yourself wasn’t the smartest thing to do. it’s fine. it should be left alone. ”

(¸.• ♛ → “Of course not” That wasn’t going to do anything at all but still, it was annoying not being able to know why they were here, it was just way too strange and she didn’t like facing something that it is unknown to her “Where…I mean, for how long have you been around here?” She couldn’t help but ask, looking at her now, of course she was going to feel curious about it and even if it was strange looking at her, she just couldn’t help herself but feel inttrigued.

“ yeah. ” merula bit her lip, her gaze set on other for a moment. none of it made sense --- how could someone look exactly like her ? the only difference that they really had were their accents & a couple of small, near indistinguishable things. “ i’ve been here for a few weeks. there’s no way out. believe me, i’ve tried everything. ”

Tulip’s eyes widen she had thought she had known the girl - but who it was, that was a bit of a surprise. It had been a long time since she had been alone face to face with Merula and of all people she hadn’t expected it to be her now ex friend. But it was Merula, and Merula was the first familiar face that she had found her so without even thinking about it, or thinking about everything that had happened between them she launches herself towards the other girl.

Quickly wrapping her arms around Merula in a tight but brief hug before pulling away, “Shit - I’m sorry I just.” she shakes her head, feeling a little awkward as she frowns and looks around, “… I am so glad to see you even if things are… well - anyways its so weird but.. were the hell are we?”

if merula was stiff before, she was now a statue from tulip’s embrace. she slowly wrapped her arms around the other --- feeling slightly awkward. they hadn’t talked in forever & whenever they did, merula was far too rude. all of that was her pride, anyway. it exhausted her to keep up a facade that only made people hate her even more. it was difficult to adapt in a new setting when people from her past kept popping up. she just wanted to relax & actually live her life properly for once.

“ you don’t have to apologize. ” her tone was soft, a sigh leaving merula’s lips at the concept of facing up to their issues. “ it’s all my fault, anyway. i was selfish. i’m sorry, tulip. ” she can’t bear to look at her former friend, it was hard for her to put someone else first --- as much as she wanted to. “ we’re --- we’re in america. ”

the teenager nodded his head as he took a sip of his coffee. “honestly, I think we’re all feeling the same way right now. at least I am.” he said putting his cup down and then giving her a slight smile. “honestly, I’d like to find out who is responsible for dropping us here as-well, I miss Boston and would like to go back as soon as possible.” 

“ it’s unbelievable. ” merula admitted with a sigh. “ i’m not from america, i think it’s ridiculous that i’ve been put here. what am i even going to do in this place ? ” she shook her head. “ i’m not sure if there is a way out. i don’t know why anybody would bother to drop so many different kinds of people into a town. ”

Was that who he thought it was? No, it couldn’t be. She did have the same face, the same figure. The same walk in her step. It had to be her. Lips pursed together, the Slytherin boy grabbed his bag and jogged over to the figure. “Merula?” He called out to her softly. “Merula! It’s me, Barnaby!” He looked over her. “What are you doing here?”

merula frowned upon hearing someone call her name. however, she soon recognized the sound of his voice. could barnaby be here too ? the brunette turned only to have her suspicions confirmed. forcing a weak smile to her fellow slytherin, she nodded. “ we’re probably here for the same reasons, barnaby. we’re stuck. ”

“ great. ” merula smiled back. “ funnily enough, i do. it’s right around the corner from here, actually. ”

“ yeah, you did --- but i don’t have the answer you’re looking for. ” merula admitted. seeing someone that looked near identical to her was pretty strange & she felt uncomfortable the more she glanced at the female. “ it is, but we’re trapped here. it’s not like complaining about it will make anything better. ”

molly laughed some more. this girl was just too cute ! growing up with a malfoy as a friend had made the witches’ skin tough as nails. she was used to SNIDE remarks made by the pureblood family. “ the year two thousand wants its retort back, sweetheart. ” still leaning against the wall of the building, molly tilted her head to the side. “ why use PRECIOUS time on something that you know is not going to work ? ”

“ what are you on about ? i’m from nineteen ninety so i can assure you that none of that applies to me yet. i still can’t get over how we’re being dragged out of time too. ” merula finally sighed & decided to give up. what was the point in being this person anymore ? “ i doubt my time is precious anymore, there’s nothing i can do with it other than be stuck here. ”

The last thing Tulip could remember was that she was heading to potions class at Hogwarts, how she ended up in this place - she honestly didn’t have a clue. But when it came down to it, how it happened wasn’t really the most important thing - what was however important was working out where this place was.

Despite her not knowing a lot about where she was or how she got here - she was finding it interesting at least, there were some curious people here and she was enjoying the chance to talk to people, particularly the more interesting kind of people. She was in the middle of chatting with a rather peculiar person when her eyes caught sight of someone familiar. Without thinking about it she waves a hand at the person she was speaking to before bolting off, “Hey- Hey wait up! I want to speak with you!” she called out, hurrying towards where she saw the person.

merula froze on the spot at the sound of that familiar voice. no way could she be here. it wasn’t fair, all the brunette wanted to do was put the past behind her but how could that happen when it seemed to be following her wherever she went ? posture still stiff, the witch turns & lets out an uncomfortable sigh at the sight of her former friend.

it was difficult to even look at her, especially considering the fact that merula wanted nothing more than to have her best friend back. she was working on her pride, but friendship was now something that she valued more. “ tulip. ”
