“Ah, that idiot,” Corban scoffed. “I rarely pay attention to you, or the quidditch team. No offence, love.” It wasn’t entirely a lie, he paid less attention to the other now than he did before. “Nah. I’m actually finding winding you up far more entertaining, if I’m honest.”
Although she was never usually one to bite her tongue, Marlene resisted the urge to defend her cousin; anything to avoid making Corban think he was having an effect on her. “Your housemates are serving far too good firewhiskey for you to get me wound up.” she said in a fairly convincing voice, taking a sip of her drink as proof. “Nice to know that you still care how I feel about you, though. That’s really adorable.” Perhaps she wasn’t as good at sarcastic indifference as he was, but in the end they had similar goals.
