Hello everyone! I'm remaking this post since the last one was just for introductory sakes, but i'll write down the general stuff

Saw a post of someone asking about boundaries and whether they were allowed to ship something, had my rant mode triggered instantly (war flashbacks to the pyroscythe bs lmao), reblogged it with a long rant explaining to them that they don't need permission to create fanworks, and then. Had them message me?? And thank me for responding?? And had a very respectful conversation? AND NOW WE'RE MUTALS??

Tbh Martyn being Artemis feels more like a product of their only being 4 members of the smp that identify themselves as a woman, and forcing any of them to play as Artemis's champion, and restricting that access to the rest of the members, wouldn't feel right. If he wants to play Artemis, he should be allowed to. I also wouldn't be surprised if they would just lean in more on the hunting and bow aspect of her and ignoring other parts, this is a piece of fiction after all. Fictionalizing and ignoring certain things to better tell a story is nothing new. And it's not like stranger things have happened in the god choices so far, mostly the fact that the two primordial deities, Nyx and Chronos, are getting involved. You would think Chronos would be to busy spinning the wheel of time or whatever to involved at all, but I suppose that is the reason why the world was falling apart. And this is all without mentioning the Orion sized elephant in the room. (frankly, I haven't watched his episode yet, which could ruin all of my arguments, but eh)

my opinions on the pantheon smp discourse i've been seeing as a white pagan who works with Artemis.

Martyn discourse: stupid. literally stfu. who cares if him being Champion of Artemis doesnt make sense. only really annoying people bar men from worshipping Artemis in this day and age.

Scott discourse: very understandable and valid. a lot of white people have MASSIVE issues with orientalism and dont realize it. while i understand Scott not doing much research and just keeping with the aesthetic, minecraft skins are very malleable. he can fairly easily change the design without changing the skin. he could just make the hem of the pants hang loose and like a few other small changes and then its less of an issue and keeps the flowy feel. his non-apology sucks though. "if i" this and "if i" that like sftu and just say you're sorry, change the design a little, and move on. its not that damn hard.

I think the worst part about the current discourse about Scott’s pantheon design is that people are saying his apology was avoiding responsibility? I mean he addressed the worries and how he recognized the valid points made against his design. Explained how he messed up and how this led to the issues in his original design. Took accountability and made it clear that changes will hopefully be done in preparation for the next episodes. Apologized for causing offense and thanking those who brought it to his attention. Genuinely how is that a bad apology and avoiding responsibility when he validated the criticism and established the steps being taken to fix his ignorance?

Scott Smajor fast becoming the vivziepop of the fandom for me.

Every time I encounter a hater they always give a different reason for why we should never engage with his content and half of the reasons sound bullshit from the get go but I look them up anyway and see his statement on it and he’s usually apologised and tried to amend it or it’s been blown way out of proportion or something. He’s actually better than Vivzie in that regard.

The hate just feels like an echo chamber of misinformation or misconstrued information that just spirals out of control.

I thought after the A&M situation we would all back the hell off Scott bc the guy is clearly trying. And some people just really hate him.

Oh my god i'm genuinely so tired of this fandom sometimes, why is there so much drama. Sometimes it feels like people just want to make shit up to be mad at. Why is there always SOMETHING.

First avid and marm turn out to be peices of actual shit, then pyro has his whole stupid "boundaries" (rules) bs (though i don't see really anyone talking about this anymore which is. Curious), i don't want to rant about those situations tho thats not what spurred me to write this, plus i feel like ppl on here have already said everything i would/have lol. And now. Now people are already mad about pantheon?? HOW IS THERE ALREADY DISCOURSE IT HASN'T EVEN COME OUT YET.

Ughh it's not my place to comment on the orientalism stuff with scott since i'm white as paper but. I'll just say listen to actual east asian/middle eastern/poc people's opinions. Apparently comments by poc ppl disagreeing with the take have been deleted by some people which! Is extremely fucked up. I think the whole thing's resolved now since scott apologized and is changing the design at least LMAO. (If people continue to harp on about this past now though i'm going to LOSE MY SHIT-)

Now, martyn. How are some people saying that martyn's design is misogynistic. Genuinely. What. How. LOL. By this logic hades (the game) designs are misogynistic since some of them are quite visually similar (to me, a guy who has not played the game, at least. I swear i've seen characters with nearly the same exact hair and toga). And the shit with him being a male follower of artemis… Y'all. Artemis had male followers. She wasn't some man hating lesbian (<- i say this as a man hating (/nsrs for clarification's sake) ace lesbian). She had close platonic relationships with men. I mean ffs y'all know her and apollo are siblings right. They certainly don't hate each other. Someone more educated on ancient greek history than me could probably name prominent/favoured male followers of hers as well.

Good fucking lord this smp was never going to be historically accurate y'all need to stop treating it like it's a greek myth "retelling." Martyn doesn't even know like. Anything about greek mythology. I watched his epic the musical reaction streams. He's clueless LMAO. This isn't a bad thing! But i think people have their expectations too high. And I swear to god if people are mad when episode one comes out and there's historical inaccuracies I'm going to LOSE IT. Gods. Where is this hatred towards christopher nolan. Scuttling my ass back to rainbow quest i love my niche little 5 year old mcrp fandom THERE IS NO DRAMA IN THE FAVREMYSABRE FANDOM (we ignore the discord being Very anti-shipping (apparently) i've heard it's gotta better. But like i've never talked in there even once soo. I can't speak from experience lol. Other than that there really isn't anything). Mcyt sphere needs to get more favremysabre pilled in general. No drama in the fms fandom <3 i'm honestly so glad the rq fixation came back when it did because it was JUST in time, like right before the news about avid came out. If i had still been fixated on vampires i would have been DEVASTATED. Thank FUCK i was deep in the rainbow quest trenches already. I have had nothing but a lovely time in this fandom.

People who are uncomfortable with content creators having boundaries on how much you as a viewer make them uncomfortable are lame. Genuinely lame. Maybe even too far gone.

If the idea that someone doesn’t want you to impose on their life, art or work makes you frustrated, you shouldn’t consume content.

You wouldn’t be this mad if an author said this about a book, a musician said it about their music etc. It is because you are too parasocial and do not consider what MCYT is as a JOB which it is for most of them, and just as something they do for fun. Yes the WORK can be FUN but in the end, this is their livelihood and you are making it weird.

About the current Scott Pantheon SMP discourse, coming from inside the mind of a writer. When it comes to character creation, I can say that at least I put most of my thought into story and a light research on the culture mixed with the vibe of the character.

The process probably went "wind guy -> flowy clothing" and probably not farther than that.

I'm not trying to be dismissive here, I'm not trying to say that struggles of POCs aren't real, I know damn well they are. But this really feels like projecting and drama causing at this point.

Most of the reasons from the original post that I saw was looking deeply into the character clothing and putting hate on him from there and nothing else. I really find that frustrating, IT'S A CHARACTER DESIGN FOR A MINECRAFT SMP FOR GOODNESS SAKE. IT HAS FUN LITTLE DESIGNS AND FITS THE AESTHETIC. And I truly think that's it.

I’m kinda worried for pantheon smp now tbh, mostly because of Martyn, it just feels a bit distasteful and disrespectful to have Artemis (y’know, the goddess known for not fw men and famously only having women huntresses) be represented by a man. And apparently the logic behind this decision was “she’s throwing a man to the wolves instead of the women/girls” (take that with a grain of salt bc i can’t find the clip atm) but like…1, that feels *very* ooc for her, 2, It opens up the possibility for Martyn to do a storyline about how he feels “othered” as a man being one of Artemis’s hunters which….I am PRAYING they don’t go that route bc it will honestly ruin the smp for me

im still fairly new to mcyt fandom as a whole and im sure youve heard this a billion times already, but this fandom could really benefit from thinking of ccs as actual human beings with both positives and negatives and not only see them as their silly guy or whatever.

the majority of people idolise ccs so much to the point where they just outright refuse to see any flaws in them even if they are called out right in their face. its like talking to a brick wall everytime you try to hold a genuine conversation about a cc istg. peoples ignorance amazes me.

but anyways I think its important to call out in a [educational and respective manner] when a cc is being not so great in some way. and its even more important to not be a dick and harass or doxx people.
