A Big Bang is a fandom event where writers have a set time period to create a work. These works are then offered to artists, who create a piece based on their chosen fic.

if we're writing a multichaptered work, is it ok for us to write more chapters after the event ends? is it ok for it to not be done when artists get to it? as in, when the writing period finishes, we have X number of words over a few chapters all finished and we go through the process with artists with that. but then post event we add more, finishing the work.

as long as there's a solid storyline for the artists to work with, then that's fine! the total word count of the existing chapters at the end of the writing period would be what art tier your work is granted though, as a fair warning!

hi mods! i think i'm having issues with my email so i'm also sending to you guys here since it's past the writing period finishing and i didn't hear back, life hit me like a freighter train and i was super unable to finish so just wanted to formally let you know i was dropping out, my participant number is 2154!

we uh. we don't have email participants, anon. you had to join the server to be considered in the event, and we did extend the writing period by a month, which we announced there... we marked you as dropping out months ago.

is animation of any kind allowed or is it just like still images?

As long as you understand that you only have a limited time to work on it, and therefore need to consider how much work you can feasibly do in that amount of time, you're welcome to submit an animation!

hi! this is my first time participating in this event so apologies if this is asked a lot or if this isn't phrased well

if you're an artist and you get into a new series/fandom in the middle of the event, is there a way to mention you're willing to draw a piece for it?

say for example you started getting into vampires smp early into the event's lifespan, but you only said you'd draw hermitcraft when you applied

does that mean during the assignment period you'll only get hermitcraft works or will you be able to pick out your fandoms again before getting a piece assigned?

Hiya!

All artists will be able to preview the information of all fics (of rating and warnings they've signed up for) regardless of the fandoms they expressed interest in at the start of the event.

More information on the assignment process will be released closer to the time, but essentially artists will note down a few works they'd be interested in creating art for, and then mods will do our best to evenly assign artists to writers based on that data.

Writing Period Has Begun!

It's official! The MCYT Yuri Big Bang writing period is underway! Writing period will include two check-ins and will run until March 1st at 11:59pm GMT. After that, staff will begin the assignment process!

Our staff team has now sent out invites/Discord friend requests to everyone who signed up, so if you haven't already joined the server, please check your email/Discord!

Note: There was one person whose Discord username did not work when a staff member tried to send a friend request. If you registered for the event and you have not received a friend request, please send us an ask off anon so we can get you into the server. We still want you here!

Don't forget that if you don't join the server by January 4th, you will no longer be able to do so.

Hello! How many pieces can writers create?

Hi anon!

We're going to limit the number of written pieces to one per person, just due to of the nature of a Big Bang-style event, and to keep things under control when it comes to pairing writers and artists. We already have a lot of participants, so keeping the numbers down would be easier on staff, and put less pressure on artists who might feel obligated to create multiple pieces. However, the piece you submit can be as long as you want it to be, just as long as you're able to get it mostly finished by the deadline.

Our event team is comprised of six adult members, three of whom are moderators on this blog! We have experienced writers, artists, and beta readers who are equipped to provide support and feedback or answer any questions you may have. If you've registered for the event, you'll get to know us all more personally once the Discord server opens, but if you have anything more specific you're wondering about, feel free to ask!

If I were to register as a writer but ended up not being able to follow through with making a piece, would that mess up the process? Is registration a promise that I will be participating? I would hate to register just to cause issues and disappoint if I'm not able to complete something lol

Registration isn't a promise, no. We don't expect anyone to 100% commit to an event, things happen.

As a writer specifically, dropping out any time before the assignment period would have no effect on the matchmaking process. Regardless, any participant can drop out at any time if they need to. We're here to promote yuri, not burnout!

In addition, we can't guarantee you'll get a match. As this is an event that is focused on Yuri and participation between multiple people, we can't guarantee that someone will want to work with your genderbend.

Any artists, writers, or beta readers who wish to participate in the event can fill out our registration form below to get involved in our project to make the MCYT fandom a more yuri-filled community!

Because this is a classic big bang, writers will be creating first! Please keep this in mind, and review our timeline [HERE] before you register, so you know when your deadline(s) will be.

This is not an application-based event, so you don't need to try to sell yourself. Just answer the questions to the best of your ability, and you're good to go! Make sure you've familiarized yourself with the guidelines of the event before you sign up, and get your form in before the deadline!
