it's amazing how ordinary objects can become so significant to only the owner

when my aunt's best friend passed away, my younger brother was four years old. at his funeral, my brother went up to her and gave her a nickel. he told her very solemnly that it would make her feel better. she smiled for the first time in days, and tucked it in her wallet.

when my brother was 22, his best friend passed away unexpectedly. my aunt drove three hours to be there for him at the funeral. she went up to my brother, gave him a big hug, and then gave him a nickel. it was the same nickel; she had kept it in her wallet for 18 years, and now it's on a necklace that he never takes off.

what i'm trying to say is that the love you put into the world will always find its way back to you.

Just saw someone In the Heartstopper tag say that Nick didn't have to say that he was bi multiple times throughout Season 2 when the whole reason why he was doing that Is because that's the reality of bisexual people. Myself Included. We always have to clarify that we like both men and women because It's as If bisexual's don't exist both In and out of the LGBTQIA+ community. If a bisexual man Is dating another man, he's automatically gay to other Ignorant people, same goes for a bisexual woman dating another woman. And If a bisexual man dates a woman or a bisexual woman dates a man, they're automatically deemed straight by said Ignorant people again. We're always pressured to “pick a side” when all we want to do Is just like both and not be bothered by It constantly.

Nick had to say It and clarify It so much throughout Season 2 because literally EVERYONE In the show kept saying or asking If he was gay everytime he or Charlie told people they were dating. Once again, as If bisexual people don't exist and that straight and gay are the default sexualities and there's no In between. That's how It Is for bisexual people literally every single day. The B In LGBTQIA+ Is there for a reason. For us. That's all there Is to It. Nick said “I'm bi, actually” that many times for a reason. To anyone who thinks It's annoying, THAT'S WHY. Please be mindful of that going forward. Thank you for coming to my TED talk.
