For me its always club over player. No matter how much I love a player I can never bring myself to buy another club's jersey. I will however buy the player's nt team kit hence me having a mario spain jersey and not a barca kit

yes same I get that. i have an mead 7 england shirt but don’t really feel the need to get one for club. I’ve also just given up on shirts all together, the water damage from the fire in my apartment ruined most of them and they’re so expensive, when I really like a kit I’m happy to get fake ones (not a citeh one though), live laugh dhgate <3

You have family connections to Curaçao correct (couldn’t remember if it was there or Surinam). Just noticed that all of the players on Curaçao’s WC squad are all born and raised in Netherlands. Is there a large number of folks from there or with descent from there living in Netherlands?

yes i do :) the dutch colonised curaçao and it was central to their slave trade 🙃 so the histories are very intertwined. my grandmother’s great grandmother was enslaved. its only been an independent country since 2010 and its still part of the ‘kingdom of the netherlands’, so there’s quite the curaçaoan community in netherlands, its an official language there as well.

Tbf to Beth, my English friend who has been living here in the Netherlands for over 7 years still barely speaks it. It must be even more difficult if you live in England. It’s such a difficult language to learn.

same for my english speaking friends! they can understand and follow along quite well but none of them speak or write it (they probably could speak, but choose not to and i get it). it’s a difficult one to crack

I'm so used to English that when i talk to myself it's in English. And yet my job is 99,99% Dutch so i only speak english online and to myself

i also had that for a while, but i think because my job requires me to copywrite in it a lot, i’ve had to switch back for my own sake, and it only happened after a year. at first my coworker kept telling me off for writing months down with a capital letter or silly things like that that were just engrained. sometimes i still have to translate english words to dutch because i cannot for the life of me find the dutch word for it (and tbh sometimes there isn’t one). when it comes to dreams my brain can’t really decipher which language that’s in, i think its a mix

I think she’s got the basics down anyway (I still have to test it sometime), she just seems like someone who won’t talk it unless she’s sure she gets it right, and it’s not an easy language at that
