It was an easy mistake to make - that meant Kalluto never shouldâve made it. Even a decapitated snake could still deliver a venomous bite, so how could he have forgotten that simple simple rule - make sure your target is well and truly deceased before you approach?
With crimson soaking a pattern into the folds of his paper fan, his target lay in an ever-growing pool of their own failure. A mis-step there, a slow reflex here, and the youngest assassin felt their flesh give way, it travelled up his arm as he stopped in place.
How easy, he thought with dissatisfaction. Heâd been sent to test his skills against a Nen user, and it goes without saying their family had been hired to eliminate them. He never even got to see their Nen. The only noise in the room was seeping in from the outside through the open window to his back, where he knew his older brother was waiting for him, the presence of his Nen hovering nearby both stifling and comforting. He flicks his fan, letting the blood spatter to the floor. He would clean later.
Itâs when he approaches, thoughts of any further dismemberment clear in his mind that something he never thought heâd experience happened - Kalluto made a mistake.Â
Something, thick with anger and power slams into his body. It sends the child hurtling back, slamming into the wall hard enough to dizzy his vision for a second. The energy fills his lungs, pulling and tearing, he canât breathe. Heâs drowning, and though he feels no panic, he doesnât want to die here. He opens his mouth and tries to speak but he canât emit a sound - it burns in his throat. Heâs on the verge of unconsciousness when he feels something lift him, and the relief of being pulled from that room is the last thing he remembers before he passes out for good, an apology weakly croaked from his lips.

meanderingpaper replied to your post: âYouâre not wearing that, are you?â Those clothesâŠ
kalluto vc: why is there flames on it?
âBecause they make you look faster.â
âDo you really need to look faster?âÂ

decepteur:
No properly trained hound would endanger the familyâs youngest member by attempting to remove him using forceâespecially not while he brandished his weapon of choice, allowing them to glimpse the edge they would meet if trivial combat ensued.
   âIâm Hisoka.â
Twice, he behaved as though the wind were particularly verbose, brushing aside every curiosity that followed. But his unrequested escort persisted; much worse than the diminutive voice trapped inside oneâs head.
   âHe asked to be friends.â
Kalluto blinked. He may be a child, (as everyone insisted on reminding him), and merely a single, small, weak branch on his family line, but he was no fool. He knew the adult in front of him (Hisoka, apparently - he will check this) was being deliberately short with his answers.Â
But no matter.Â
That was how most spoke to him as well.Â
He chose instead to stay silent, finding the idea of his older sibling actively choosing to become acquainted with anyone difficult to comprehend. Illumi must be lying, to use this man for something.Â
He shadows the man a good way across the family grounds before speaking once more.Â
âDo you want to play with me instead?âÂ

@eldestchild continued from xx
The youngest Zoldyck was well and truly used to the fast pace of his older family members; if father wanted him to cross the room in a second as he did, then Kalluto would, if mother wanted to embark on a personal marathon across the estateâs grounds, then by her side, he accompanied her over the terrain, and if his eldest brother didnât wish to slow down, he would follow, even if his calves began to tighten after a few miles.Â
âA preference,â he replied, hopping over a nasty looking stone. âI donât want dirt under my fingernails.âÂ
He didnât share Illumiâs indifference to earth just yet.Â
killuvolts:
Ï . That hollow gaze of his eases up. There was no need to question the validity of Kallutoâs wordsâit sounded so⊠undeniably typical of their mother. The games this family played with their children, they were something else.
âOh.â His animosity ceasesâhe allows himself to lower his defenses, just enough to press his back to the brick wall and slide down. Sitting before his sibling. He speaks as he gets comfortable. âOne time⊠dad left me to my own devices at Heavenâs Arena. I couldnât come home till I made it far. Took me about two months.â Was he attempting casual conversation? He sounds a bit⊠strained. Had he ever chatted so freely with his brother?
âSo I guess youâre going through something similar now, huh?â
A more extreme and cruel case, by the sound of it. At least Killuaâs experience had an achievable goalâKalluto would never be able to convince the heir to return home. Not unless he became strong enough to drag him. Killua knew that much. Could it be that this was causing him to experience a semblance of sympathy for the young manipulator?
âSo whatâŠâ He scratches his cheek, glancing off. ââŠwhat sort of experiences have you had? Have you learned anything? Have you made friâŠ.â He faltersâ this was a Zoldyck he was talking to. And yet he canât stop himself. ââŠ.you could make friends, Kalluto.â
Kalluto watches, for a moment eager as his older brother begins to relax his stance - enough to sit in front of him! Considering the tactical disadvantage that put him in should the two begin to scuffle, the assassin took it as good sign. Perhaps he was actually considering his situation?
âI remember that.â Briefly, but it flashes past his eyes, very muddled. Alluka crying, non-stop. Pain in his own chest and not understanding why.Â
Kalluto makes a very undignified move; he shrugs while his gaze falls to the ground. âYes, I guess so.â Almost immediately afterwards heâs back to meeting his older brotherâs eyes, a small smile on his face. âBut I found you now, and youâre not running from me.â
Kalluto has to think, what has he learned since leaving the estate? Nothing really popped out to him as anything interesting. âAh. I got to fight a Chimera Ant. That was interesting. Do you know what those are?âÂ
Kalluto blinks. âBut. Why? What good are friends?â
