Why Can't I Find a Job Yet?

I've been trying hard lately. I just can't seem to catch a break. I can't help but feel as though I'm going about this wrong in some way. Either I'm looking up the wrong jobs or I don't appear reliable and professional enough to people. I can't stand working at Starbucks anymore though. It sucks. I thought maybe it wasn't the usual retail type store, but after a month I can see the usual break down in communication and general lack of protocol which plagues retail. I need to get out of this stupid job and do something that I'm actually qualified for.

Apply, Apply, Apply

So some networking hasn't really led anywhere (yet, I hope). 

My girlfriend is back home now, so it's time for me to shape up and get a move on with finding a job. I applied to four places last night:

Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia

SBWire

Healthcare Business Insights

Zywave Inc.

All four were for basically the same position: assistant/editor of some sort. I actually heard back from Zywave today. They want to do a pre-interview assessment with me. It'll probably be similar to the ones I did for Epic. This company is out in Wisconsin also, and that makes me a little anxious. But I need to get out of this dump of a city. I'm tired of homeless people and crazies bothering you every goddamned minute for some help. I need to help myself out!

I just applied to Simon & Schuster Publishing. Here's hoping that 3rd times a charm.

Job Searching Feelings

I keep cycling between feeling like "Fuck yeah, everyone should want to hire me! I'm pretty awesome!" and "No wonder I can't find a job, I'm a worthless sack of human flesh".

What to Do?

What do I do with myself? I know most people write these morose sort of posts on their personal tumblr's and I guess I am now too. It's been nearly two months since coming home from China and I've applied to and been turned down by one job. I'm having trouble just deciding what sorts of jobs to apply for. I know I need to take just about anything and that a person in my position has to start out on the bottom of the totem pole but I also would like the "right" job, whatever that is.

Wangfujing was really fun, but obviously aimed at tourists and people ready to spend some cash. As you can see they sold things like scorpions and starfish on sticks, among many other typical Chinese wares.

Turned Down

Turned down by my first job application since being back. I'm actually pretty disappointed. I know I shouldn't have, but for some reason in my mind I was really banking on getting this job and assumed I would maybe, possibly, most likely, get it. I really shouldn't have expected to get the job, but for some reason I thought I was. What a fool.

Time to (actually) ratchet up the job search process! (This is me trying to stay positive in spite of the feelings of sadness inside).

Home From China

I'm home now, in NYC. I don't know if people who can see my original blog can see this one too somehow, but I know sometimes I get followers on both. Anyways, I'm home now, realaxing and stressing about trying to find a job. This won't be much of a travel blog though, so sorry to those who follow me for that purpose. I definitely hope to continue traveling, but right now it's on hold.
