something so uniquely bittersweet about spending my final christmas with my nearly 10 year old holiday themed goat.

i started playing Goatlings at 16, taking a large 5+ year gap and coming back very luckily just before my account would have been deactivated for inactivity following the semi-recent TOS changes. in that way, I guess this has always been borrowed time I had with my herd- but that doesn't make it sting any less. millions and millions of sugar stars came into and left my hands; as an irresponsible teen I bought maybe too much Diamond Dust goods, and in my return, realized I had generational goat wealth in retired items collecting dust in my inventory. thousands of hours I spent; trying to hunt down good goat usernames, color-matching treasures, browsing random wishlists to see if I had anything I could gift or buy them to spread the love. I had a spreadsheet keeping track of what I would work on next for my profile, and now I have repurposed it to help keep track of what I have archived. Goatlings, for all the flaws and horrors you contained in your years, I'm sorry you're being punished for the mistakes of your creator. in a just world, you would be rehomed to someone who could care for you proper. in this one, you will be missed. is this the first website I have frequented to shut down? no. will it be the last? unlikely. but I think I will have a goat shaped hole in my chest for the rest of time. thank you to everyone else who inhabited this corner of the internet with me for these years, and I'm sorry for your loss.
