Satoru watched Beef as he resituated himself on the bed, more so on his torso, but he didn't dare move. The thought of sitting up further that tempted him being whisked away by the rotund dog now laying on him. The boy was fairly detatched when it came to animals, he already struggled with being attached emotionally to people so handling animals was tough. Not that he wouldn't try, show care and or concern just a different challenge he had with expressing and feeling empathy when it came to certain things.
The twinkies would be saved for later, when his honesty wouldn't betray him with new foods. He liked sweets, but too much sweet was overwhelming and he didn't want to be rude if it was too much. Placing it besides him, now that Beef was resting comfortably, he just had to remember to grab it before he accidentally rolled over onto the package. At least Robert didn't take offense to the comparison of Beef and the food item. "Good, he might turn into one." Satoru let out a laugh at his own joke, short and it cut off quickly- pain shooting through his body with the laugh. He didn't show it, but a brief wince crossed his features. That smarts.
Satoru didn't quite catch the fact that Beef was hoping for more loving, hands resting in front of himself clasped together. His eyes focused on the chihuahua on his lap, it felt more comfortable than facing the discomfort of looking Robert in the eye. The pressure of messing up weighed heavy, even though Robert said not to worry about it. It felt like a personal failure when he caused more issues, despite the dispatch itself being successful. "Well, if you say so." A look of relief washed over him, the fact it was successful meant that everyone was most likely safe. With that, he looked over to the other seated by his bedside. "Doesn't this cause issues for you?" An arched brow, it was a genuine question, not about the visit but about the fact he got injured while working; enough to be down for the count the rest of the shift. He knows he'd be annoyed at least.
Unclasping his hands a hand went down to absentmindedly pet Beef, the petting was awkward, not really sure on where to pet. But he's seen people petting dogs before, maybe not dogs as large as this one, but none the less he had a fairly good idea of how to pet a dog. "Hey, I know I'm probably not allowed, but if I can do anything while I'm in here let me know. Like, paperwork or something." Satoru didn't want to be seen as useless, but he also knew he couldn't overdo it in the competency department either to keep up appearances of being a kid. Besides it'd mean he could look over things, get more information. And the kid was bored, so the company itself was a welcome break from the silence.
Satoru thought for another moment more, body lightly jerking as he came up with a new idea. "Do you.. have any questions for me? Things you don't know but would benefit from knowing." He couldn't promise that he'd be able to answer everything, some information he'd keep to himself for the foreseeable future. Admittedly he hoped to learn more about the man beside him as well, but trust was a two way street, so hopefully if he offered his own life, he'd be able to find out more about Robert. Within reason of course, he wouldn't press on issues and Robert had no way of really verifying what Satoru was saying either.
