I present to you the main planets that will be present in Ecdysis story (and for my other yautja ocs)
I will talk more in depth about these planets - their atmosphere. bio diversity and main places where the story will happen - after the cut.
- U'lesyo
U'lesyo is a planet whose atmosphere is good enough for humans to explore without oxygen masks, with a slightly lower gravity environment than Earth. It has one sun and one moon.
U'lesyo is composed by huge, dense jungle forests. It doesn't have seas in the traditional sense, but latge rivers of salt water that separates the various continents.
Originally human studied this planet to colonize it, however - due to the huge presence of apex predators and being a favored hunting spots for yautja - the idea was soon discarded.
This planet is covered by rainforests and high mountains, some with volcanoes; there seems to be a lack of other biomes. The jungles are denser at the center of the continents, making it harder to move freely.
Most of the animals evolved with multiple disjointed limbs and a slithering body to hunt or run in these forests.
U'lesyo is a favored training ground of the Naghe-tih clan. All of the chivas happen on this planet; it's the perfect ground for Ra-taro to hunt and for strengthening the bond between Ra-taro and hunter. The predators of U'lesyo are worthy preys that can kill a yautja with ease and the chiva is also a race against time: staying too much in the lower gravity could reduce muscle and bone density, making the young hunters weaker to move on Yautja Prime for a while.
The goal is to conclude their chiva with their Ra-taro and come back before both the animal and hunter can suffer from the low gravity. Which means concluding their trial within 48 days before muscles reach atrophy.
Since - aside for three main spots - the planet is nameless, hunters on U'lesyo check their position on the continent thanks to various abandoned human research stations in the jungle or the mountain. The yautja may use these stations as temporary shelter, but they tend not to touch the tech inside it since they consider it obsolete or useless for their hunts.
The 'Lone hunter forest' is the most infamous one known to the Naghe-tih: the jungle is thicker than any other, the trees shield the ground from daylight, a perfect hideout for dangerous predators.
Many young and old hunters lost their life here.
- Eunoè
Eunoè is a moon almost at the end of its star system. It's mostly covered by the planet it orbits and the other moons surrounding it.
The planet atmosphere is similar to Earth. However, the weather mostly consists of rain and snow, with occasional warm season when Eunoè isn't covered by the other celestial bodies and it's exposed to the sun.
Mountain, bogs, evergreen forests, and tundras make most of Eunoè's natural landscapes; the long seasons of rain cause the ground to be more muddy than dry, making it a though environment for survival.
The animals that live on this moon are either fish or land animals that evolved with long limbs to walk with ease in the mud and bogs, or developed wings to stay mostly in the air, landing only on trees for shelter. These preys, however, didn't catch the attention of those few hunters that happened to land on this planet.
They are barely large enough for consumption - killing them for honor would be too easy, a child play.
This is the exact reason why the Ossa clan made Eunoè their hideout: the moon goes under the radar of hunters and enforcers, allowing the bad blood to live in chaos without the fear of being captured/killed.
Their clan is located right under the Northern Spine, a huge chain of mountains that divide the upper continent. The area is covered by a taiga forest and sheltered by the mountians from the wind and rain.
The Ossa clan turned these lands into lawless lands, where they bring their preys from other planets to hunt with sadistic amusement, knowing their trophy will struggle with the muddy terrain and the temperatures freezing the bones.
While the Ossa uses the forest around their clan to hunt their prisoners, the favored area is a continent in the north west of the planet, with a large tundra covering most of it, making their prey easily exposed to danger.
The continent is named Rotten Claw, while the tundra is known by the Ossa as the Pale Graveyard: the bad blood of the Ossa clan defy the honor code's laws, most of the time they kill their prey in horrible ways and not always they bother to collect the skull as trophy, so the ground of the hunting areas is covered by skulls and bones left behind.
This 'bone floor' has its uses: it alerts the bad bloods of incoming enemies, where their prey is running. The sounds terrifies their victims, knowing the crunching of bones means a yautja is getting closer.
- Nosos
Nosos is a rogue planet that drifts around star systems.
While most rogue planets don't have the conditions to harbor life, Nosos seems to have maintained some sort of atmosphere that consists of various types of gas, such as nitrogen and oxygen.
However the planet conditions are not fit for survival: the temperature is icy and most of the surface of Nosos is covered by nitrogen, the presence of oxygen is not enough to breathe without a helmet and there are various other gases that are harmful. Not to mention, the gravity is denser than Earth or Yautja Prime.
The few yautja - that crossed their path with this abandoned planet - met their end there due to an emergency landing or falling down after a space battle with other vessels. Finding remains of spaceship is fairly common, yet the largest ship cemetery is located towards the norhern hemisphere of this planet.
Some researchers said to have detected movement from their ship's radars, but they never seem to find actual life forms when investigating. It is believed now that those signals came from those that ended stranded on this planet and shortly died because of the different types of gas.
The Aether Sea is one of the rare places with more oxygen. Even if it's still low enough to cause some dizziness, it can be used as a safe zone by researchers or those who are waiting for a slow death on this planet.
Not far away from this sea there's a vast area covered by a thick fog: those that happened to cross it felt their body cooling from the inside, until it completely petrified them; the U'dl-kwe valley is covered by frozen statues of those deceased because of it. The fog seems to be repelled by oxygen, so it never crosses the borders of the Aether Sea.
The only proof there was once life on this planet it's the presence of petrified forests and plants, as well as deep canals where once there were rivers.
- Ga'lea
Ga'lea, known by researchers as Galatea, is a sea based planet whose ocean covers the 80% of the surface. It has archipelagos scattered all over the ocean.
Ga’lea has one sun and two moons, which causes high tides that submerge those few pieces of lands for a certain period of time - this is one of the reasons researchers don't consider this planet good for living.
The main one is the presence of a yautja clan, the Coh'urall: a large clan, divided into four mini-groups located on the largest islands, each one for each cardinal point.
There was a time this planet was the main focus of researches; many came and disrupted the peace of the sea. The breaking point was when one elder and two yautja kids - offsprings of a renowned jeweler of the South clan - were captured by smugglers, never to be seen again.
The Coh'urall clan chased away these strangers from their hunting ground, claiming many as their trophies, and Ga'lea was marked as a no land zone to avoid further deads.
Each of Ga'lea archipelagos has various climates and biodiversity, and each Coh'urall clan evolved differently to survive. Some of these islands are neutral grounds for the different clans to meet or hunt. One of them being two large islands which create the shape of a creature's head with an open jaw.
In the middle of this archipelago and the one of the North clan is located the Great Beast: remains of a leviathan like animal, whose bones emerge from the sea - eroded by the winds and salt water - and it's a protected ground by the Coh'urall.
Towards the south, a large volcano neighbor with the South clan, it is called the Ze-rei Sea; the volcano is active, and the beach is mostly rocks and obsidian, with water crashing with the hot lava. When it's erupting, the ashes tend to fly towards the archipelago of the clan, painting their beaches with grey colors.
The water of the Ze-rei sea is warm, and the deeper a yautja swim, the hotter it becomes. Fishes and Sharks like creature evolved with a though hide to survive the burning water: they became a favored material by the sea yautja for creating their hunting armors.
