EMILY
the silence was most certainly a discomfort – and the lack of visual response from the omnic certainly didn’t help to sate that discomfort and yet she stood, waiting; looking vaguely in the potential direction that he himself was looking in. he was right; the view certainly wasn’t the best – though it did act as a nice reminder of reality. call it bittersweet that she had access to a constant reminder of reality from the comfort of her home.
❝ aye – I would say so as well. ❞ she agreed, confirming said agreement with a nod of her head. attention quickly turned from the scene below her apartment to the omnic who stood before her, requesting her input. brow raised curiously as he inquired (partially in rhetoric, to boot) to her; wished to know more. understandable, really; not entirely unexpected, either.
❝ I can only imagine how that must’ve been – though it’s unfortunate for me to say that i’m not all too surprised by that, either. tensions are… particularly high in the Capital. my reason for helping you doesn’t differ from the reason i’d help anyone else; you needed it, and what kind of person could I call myself if I left you there to suffer like that, when I could do something about it? ❞
she saw him as an equal. that stood out to him the most as he secretly evaluated her inside his mind, trying to figure out her angle. she had none, and that revaluation didn’t soothe his confusion at all. not many humans shared her views, and though he was met his fair share of SO CALLED PEACEFUL HUMANS, he had never felt EQUAL to them.
‘ you are a very surprising young woman, miss emily, ‘ he responded, not knowing what else to say. ‘ your kindness and hospitality surprises me. and i am one that does not get very surprised or excited easily. so good on you, i suppose. ‘
he’s hardly ever thankful, either. cassian, his late friend, never failed to remind him so. living as an omnic, life in general would never favor them. their lives were hardly filled with fortune and they were often left with little to look forward to in life. kay ONCE HAD SOMETHING TO LOOK FORWARD TO, but he couldn’t say the same as of now considering the loss of his friend. but maybe he’s found another.
he liked emily a lot.
‘ have you let MISS LENA know that she is no longer permitted here now that i have made this small apartment my home? ‘
